here's what inspired me:

Here's the card I was inspired to make

My inspiration came from the stripes and die cut sentiment on the first card, the coloured matting on the second one and the butterflies on the last one.  Kelly's card are always so bright and cheerful so I also went with bright colours.

Watercoloured Christmas Trees

I've already shared these two cards here, but today they are over on the A2Z Scrapbooking ,  Here they are again for your enjoyment

IMG_1061W
This card was CASE'd from one I saw Sandy Allnock do on her blog.  I used Hero Arts Layering Christmas Trees set. I used a variety of distress inks and a waterbrush to color the trees.  I chose one to turn into a Christmas Tree by adding some dots of Liquid Pearls and Stickles.  I finished with a die cut sentiment.
My second cards using the same technique.

I used a Spellbinders die to make my oval frame and outlined it with Liquid Pearls.

There's still plenty of time to join our Fall challenge... we'd love to see your Fall inspired cards.

It's been a Tim weekend!

Yes I spend the weekend with Tim.... Tim Holtz stamps that is!  For some reason my cards over the past few days have all had Tim's stamps on them....

Firstly here is a Butterfly I painted last weekend and made up into card on Friday evening.
I was inspired by the blue brick background that I saw Kathy Racoosin do on one of her cards.  I used Zig Markers to colour the butterfly.  The sentiment from the same set as the butterfly and I embossed it in silver EP.

Next up is another image I watercoloured last weekend.

This is from the Tim Holtz Stamptember with Simon Says.  I started by using my Zig Markers to make a wash on the background.  Then stamped the image and then added some more intense markers on a few spots and some Glossy accents on a few parts as well.   This one was for hubby on his birthday on Friday.

And my last trio of cards uses Tim Holtz Crazy birds.... two for my twin great nephews who turn 9 on the 28th

The banner stamp is a new border stamp from Crea8tiv that I picked up at K-Mart the other day.  Stencil from MFT.  Winnie & Walter sentiment stamped in a Penny Black die cut speech bubble.

And this last one for a friend's Aunty.

Using sentiments from Kaisercraft and one from Montarga

thanks for sticking through this long post... As you can see I have had fun spending some time with Tim.

Weekend colouring

We spent the weekend at our friend's place at Mangawhai Heads.  I took along some Copics, watercolour paint palette and my Zig Markers and spend some time colouring .. did a few stamped images, made some watercoloured backgrounds and generally had a fun few hours both Saturday and Sunday.

This evening I made up one of the watercolour panels with stamping and colouring into a card

The background was a colour wash of watercolour paints.  Once it dried, I stamped the Lily (from Stampendous) and then used my Zig Markers to colour the image.  I love how you can get such vibrant colours with using the markers with only a little water.   This card is for my NZ Technique swap... theme is Spring and technique is stitching.  My stitching is faux - I used a MFT die to cut out the panel and then used a silver gel pen to do some faux stitching along the die cut stitched line.  Added some texture with an embossing folder to my base card.  The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter.

These are a couple of the other bits of colouring I did.   Still to make up into cards.  The bottom one has had a few added bits of colour since I took the photo.  This will be hubby's birthday card for Friday.

And I'm finishing with a picture I took of some visitors to the house on Sat evening.

Mama Duck and 11 midsized ducklings came waddling across the lawn to the window.  The ducklings then pecked on the window while Mama looked on.  She then called them and the waddled around the back of the house to the other ranch slider then off to the wetland beside the property.

Thanks for stopping by.

more challenges for WCMD.

Yes... still at it!
Winnie & Walter also had some WCMD challenges.  One of them was to make a masterboard and make cards with it.

Here's the board I made (minus one panel as I forgot to take the picture before trimming it up)

I used stamps from Winnie & Walter's Eva's Favourite Flowers (From StampNations SOA box) in black ink and green for the leaves.

Here's the first card I made

I added another stamp from the Winnie & Walter set in Abandoned Coral ink and coloured the flowers in orange and yellow.  Distressed the edge with the coral ink.  The sentiment was stamped with a Kaisercraft stamp and white embossed.  A few clear sequins to finish.

and card two

Again I used a stamp from the Winnie & Walter set in the Picked Raspberry.  Add just a touch of blue on the flowers and stamped and embossed the sentiment onto vellum.  This one is my entry into the Germany - inspired by Folk Art, at StampNation.

I still have two sheets left to make some more cards.

Only one StampNation challenge left... Not sure when I'll get time though as we are heading away for the weekend and I'm not sure if I'll take any stuff with me.

Wednesday 7 October 2015

WCMD continues.............

I really am trying to get all 10 challenges at StampNation done... two more done

Challenge #6  Australia - Aboriginal Art

I started by stamping the dragonflies in black ink onto the blue card.  Then overstamped with a Hero Arts background in white pigment ink.  The sentiment is from Kaisercraft.  The die cut dragonfly was cut from dotted vellum.

Challenge # 7 Malaysia - Batik

I was inspired by a pink floral batik in the inspiration board.  So created my own batik.  I clear embossed the Inkadinkado flourish and added some flowers from Eva's Favourite flowers by Winnie & Walter.  I then used Picked Raspberry to cover the entire background.  I used some Zig markers to colour the flowers.  I stamped the dots in white ink but it faded into the background, so I used a Signo white gel pen and coloured over them.  Add a few single dots here and there.   I decided to do a hidden sentiment by using the Winnie and Walter Happy die and adding it to a layer of 4 other die cut.    Adding this to Winnie & Walter's watercolour challenge with Vanessa.

Only two more challenges to go  - just a few more days to do so.

Christmas Tag Card

With Fall coming to the Northern Hemisphere and Spring in the Southern Hemisphere that means Christmas is just round the corner.  And now's the time to visit the store at A2Z Scrapbooking and get some new items to start on your cards.   All the Hero Arts Christmas stamps, dies and stencils are in stock.

Today I have a card that uses Hero Arts Merry & Bright Tag Die and Stamp Set.

Tag card

I die cut the Tag from some American Crafts silver card stock.  The sentiment from the set was stamped with black ink and clear embossed.   Here I have used a bow die from Cheery Lyn but am pleased to let you know Hero Arts has an awesome bow die which we are stocking at A2Z.

Don't forget that our challenge this month is all about Fall.  Hope you can join us, there is a chance to win a $25 Gift Certificate to the a2z Scrapbooking Store.

World Card Making Day - take two

Here I am back with a few more card I've made for WCMD challenges.

First up is a card for two challenges... StampNation challenge # 4  Scotland

I used some Winnie & Walter stripe stamps to make my own plaid background.  I cut the panel with a MFT die and then split it to fit onto the card base.  Used a feebie die from last year and added a little holly embellishment, I made with a Kaisercraft stamp.  Very CAS.  Entered into the Masculine challenge at Winnie & Walter.

Next one was for StampNation challente #5 Japan. - inspired by flower and Kimonos

I was inspired by the pretty pinks and flowers on the kimonos.  Used  an Altenew stamp (Fresh Freesias) and watercoloured with Zig Clean Color markers.  The background was a variety of sprays.  Used a die cut and sentiment from
Winnie & Walter.  I've also entered this into the challenge at Winnie & Walter - Watercolouring

and today I manged one more card for StampNation challenge #8 - France -inspired by brocade

I used the free embossing folder I got last week with some Red Memento ink so do a faux letterpress technique.  The sentiment is from a free set with a magazine.  It's such a great way to build up your supplies!  I used some Spellbinders dies to cut the sentiment.

And here's a picture of what my desk looked like yesterday evening.

One hot mess!  But the result of a fun few days.

Now only 4 more StampNation challenges to make to do all of them.  I've already started on #6  Australia - inspired by Aborginal art.   Then it's Malaysia,  Germany, and Israel.  We've got a few more days to enter.

World Card Making Day (or should I say Weekend!)

3rd October is World Card Making Day and because we are the first place in the World to see the sun - I got to spend the weekend celebrating... as the 3rd in the States is the 4th here!

So I started on my Saturday and decided to do the challenges at StampNation - they started midnight Friday so by the time I looked just after lunch Saturday 4 challenges were already up... I managed three cards in the afternoon,  so here they come

#1 - Inspired by USA - Bandannas
Using a Doodled Dry Emboss technique I saw on Splitcoaststampers.   Time consuming but fun result.

#2 Inspired by Canada - Hudson Bay Blanket

using Simon Says Stamp Holiday Borders.  Sentiment from Hero Arts.

#3 Inspired by Switzerland - Edelweiss Flower

Used Simon Says Stamp Fog card stock and Lil'inkers dies to make my base and layer.   Hero Arts Wreath stamped in Versafine Olmypia Green.  Flowers and leaves from Inkadinkado stamped in London Fog Memento ink.  Coloured with Zig Clean Clear markers and fussy cut.  Finished with a Impression Obsession die cut bow and a Hero Arts sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing my WCMD  fun.  I'll be back to show you a few more later in the week.   I did get two more cards made today - and hopefully the rest of the challenges during the coming week

And I'm leaving you with some exciting news in our family.... we are to be Grandparents in April next year... Our daughter and her husband are expecting.... Very exciting news.
