Play Date Cafe ~ A splash of Green ( and some Happy mail)

This week over The Play Date Cafe it is a Colour Splash week farewelling one of the original organisers of the challenges.    I have already entered one card (here)  but had this idea the other night and had some green butterflies coloured and cut out.  And tonight I pulled the card together....
PDCC83  #2

The butterfly stamp is from Rosie's Studio.  Coloured with Distress inks and cut out.  The pretty paper is double sided so decided the turned over corner would look interesting.  I then used the small piece cut off when layering on the card under the ribbon to allow it to be seen a bit better.  Added the sentiment from Hero Arts and a little stickles on the butterfly.
And now look at the lovely mail I received from Nancy.... we swapped ATC's and a card too...

thank you Nancy... these are so lovely.  It is so nice to have meet you through the Flickr group.

Visited my back specialist today... looks like my surgery will be in July ~ hopefully the 21st or 22nd... ACC declined my request so I'll be seeing how much my insurance will pay... not all though!  I have to wait to get pre-approval and then I'll be able to organise time off work.   At least I know what is what now...

Thanks for visiting, I do appreciate all your lovely comments.

Start each day with "Whee"!

What a great sentiment..... my Saturday was just like that.... I got to play with friends!  Our little group of stamping friends meet at Sandie's place for a day of stamping, creating, talking, eating... what more could you ask for.

One of our group, Helen, had to have by-pass surgery awhile back, but is now well on the road to recovery, thank the Lord,... and she joined us for the day.  Plus Sandie's neighbour Marcia and her 9 year old daughter, Andie.  The day just flew by.  I had some projects in mind that I wanted to do so was pleased to get them done... one was my DT sample for next months SSC colour challenge.... so it will have to wait to be revealed.... but here are some of what I did...

First for Play Date Cafe challenge 83 - "a splash of green" -
PDCC83

Not sure if that's a bit more than a splash!  The photo makes the two greens look a bit as if they clash, but in real life it's not that bad.  Had fun colouring that MFT~ Pure Innocence stamp.  I had this colour scheme in mind and bought a couple more green Copics on my way home on Friday.

Next is another MFT ~ Pure Innocence stamp.... the one with the "Start each day with "whee"!" on it...
Whee

Isn't this just the sweetest little stamp and sentiment.  I used Copics and paper piecing to colour the image.  I'm not sure who produces the wonderful background PP I used, as I forget to look before I cut the 12 x 12 sheet up into 4 pieces.  I just loved the greens and browns on it ~ parts of it had a trees and then parts had bikes all over it... interesting page.

And my final share today is a quick card I made with the piece of PP I had left from making the card above.
One of a kind

I started with a Kraft base and added the strip of PP left.  As there is a bit of a bike in the top corner of the PP I used that as my inspiration.  Stamped a Penny-farthing bike from the HA set "Three Bikes" cut it out with a Spellbinders die and then sponged some distress ink while it was still in the die and then used a fine-line marker to draw round the inside of the die.   I stamped the sentiment onto more kraft and used a Spellbinders Tag die to cut it out.  Added some sponging to that as well.

I did get 1 and a half more cards made.  Plus some bits and pieces cut out or coloured.   All in all a very fun day.... but I did come home to an extremely sore back which is still very sore today.  Which is why I DID NOT rise at 7.00am to join the Hero Arts Scramble this morning... My brain and heart wanted to be there to join in, but the body said a BIG NO WAY HOSEA....

Take care everyone

Some more SSC challenge cards

This week over at Simply Scrapping Crafts the cards challenge was set by Dani...
to use these colours

Great basic colours.
SSC Colour challenge
I did some masking of the Peeking Posies to remove the frame around the flowers and masked around the embossing as well.  I used Antique Linen to stamp the envelope pattern for some texture.  I coloured the flowers with water colour pencils.

Last week I didn't get around to sharing the card I made for the sketch challenge....
I decided to stick fair accurately to the sketch.  I had a friend in mind when I made this card...
SSC Sketch - May 11th

The yellow card is plain white that has been stamped with HA Envelope Pattern and then distressed with Scattered Straw Distress ink.  The striped paper was a free download from Papercraft Inspirations magazine  The flowers are punched from some handpainted papers made with Twinkling H2O's and Pearlescent paints.  I love how some cards just come together so well.... this was one of them.  I sent this off to Jacqueline to let her know I am thinking of her.

I hope you take the time to visit the challenges over that SSC... they are such fun...

Hope the week's been good for you... still no light in my studio.... so not a lot has been done... but am looking forward to catching up with my stamping friends around at Sandie's on Saturday... got a few ideas to try out...
