A BIG thank you to Hero Arts

As you may know, I have been hosting the challenge over at Die Cut Divas this month, and our sponsor is Hero Arts.  They have generously donated a lovely prize so we Divas have decided to make some cards to say thank you!

My card used three Hero Arts stamps.  There are two on my oval.  The background on is a collage stamp stamped in Antique Linen.  The Leafy Vine is stamped in Wet Cement Shadow ink.  The corners are a new Spellbinders die.  Finished with A LOT of butterflies.

So on behalf of the Divas we thank you Hero Arts .... and also a huge thanks to all the entrants in this months challenge..... Pop back to the DCD blog for our next challenge 1 April and then on the 2nd for the winner of our GREEN challenge.

Much Excitement in the Turley household

My daughter has arrived home for a 10 day holiday so there is much excitement in the household.  All my family together for a few days R&R on Waiheke Island.  Emma and her partner arrived at 6.45 am and we are all packed and waiting to head off to catch the ferry over.  Two cars packed to the gunnel's.  Enough food to feed an army.... not just 6 of us for 3 nights!   Oh well, would rather have more than less.

Today I do have a card to share.  I wanted to enter the City Crafter's challenge last week.... to use Woodgrain.

Window Frame Thinking of You.

I have had the window die ( Spellbinder De-lite ) for ages but this is the first time I've used it.  I had some woodgrain paper that I picked up at a $2 shop.  Didn't quite turn out how I envisaged, but Hey that's crafting !!!       I cut out the window from the wood grain paper and some cream card.  Did a bit of paper piecing to cover up some bits that I didn't want to stay open, made the curtains ( Didn't realise till I looked at the photo, my scallops are going sideways :-(  )  Used another De-lite die to make the greenery for the window and a couple of punches for the flowers.   Through the window I have stamped a Hero Arts Starburst stamp in Old Paper to resemble wallpaper.   Distressed all the edges. Finished with a Simon Says die and sentiment stamp.   Something a bit different.

Wishing you all a very Happy Easter....

No stamps were inked to make this card.....

Yes... I've done a totally digi hybrid card today for the latest Mygrafico inspiration.    I chose to use a set by Shery K....

This is a free set that has cutting files and printable files ~ so if you are in a hurry... this is a great card to just print and cut... but as it comes with all the elements as separate files, I was able to make the card with a few personal touches.

Feel Better Soon

I took the PP and resized it to fit a square card size.  Added the heart and the scallop and then printed it out.  I added a stripe of green card to define the two areas.  I then printed out the heart onto card stock and die cut it with a Spellbinders die.   I imported the banner and added the sentiment over top and printed it out, fussy cut and added to the panel.  I added some flowers and a button tied with some twine, a pink pearl and the little corner embellishment.   Another one of my handmade teddies as an accompaniment.

So as you can see, you can do it the easy way or add your own touches with this kit.   Pop over to the challenge blog and see what the other's have made.  And join our Anything Goes challenge and have a chance to win some digi images.

Off to have a quick play before bed.  Got my next month's sets from Mygrafico and can't wait to start creating.

This week's movie inspiration is "The Secret Garden" ~ and you need to use a flower/s on your card.  This week's sponsor is The Saturated Canary.

and the lovely Krista  provided the design team with an image of their choice.  I chose an imaged called "Princess Red Rose"

Rose Red

I coloured her and cut with a Spellbinders label die.  The lace edging is a Martha Stewart punch.  All the PP are from Prima.  Die cut flourish and paper roses to finish.  The sentiment is a Hero Arts Sparkle clear mini set on a SU punched oval.

Do come and join us at Red Carpet Studio and shows us your cards with flower/flowers.

I am also entering this into the Saturated Canary's Challenge.~Read all about it.  Inspired by the story of Snow White and Red Rose

Colour blocking

A couple of weeks ago CAS-ual Friday's had a challenge called Colour Blocks.  I made a card for it but realised today, I hadn't shared it here.

Colour blocking

I won some Unity Itty  Bitty stamps over at Isha's blog and chose this set.
My card came about by inking up my acrylic block with some Hero Arts shadow inks, spritzing and pressing onto the base card.   I then used Hero Arts Cup'o'Joe ink to stamp the flourish onto the blocks and the sentiment to the side.   Simple but effective.

I've been busy this week, working on some DT work and making some invitation for a 21st.  I got asked by someone at work to do them for their daughter's party.  I used my new HA Leafy Flourish in Starlight Silver Brilliance ink onto grey card.  Looked very effective with the computer script.  Finished with some glittery silver ribbon and silver gems.

A busy weekend ahead... time for a huge clean up of the house before my daughter comes home for a little break.  She is arriving very early on Good Friday morning.  Then the whole family is heading off for a few days break on Waiheke Island.

Enjoy your weekend.

Easter Wishes

When I got my Cardmaker Magazine, there was a delightful card from Julie Overby that was so pretty and when I saw it as the Project in the newsletter (here)  I knew I was going to CASE it... I just adapted it with what supplies I had.

IMG_6719

I only had the Tessatina die instead of the Spellbinders Lattice die, so had to cut it 4 times.  I used my Xyron mini sticker maker to layer it onto some green PP.  The cross stamp from Inkadinkado was too large for the size I wanted so I stamped it and then photocopied at 75%.  Reduced to the perfect size!   I cut it with a Spellbinders oval and then trimmed a blue mat and added to the Fancy oval die cut.   I cut out a banner with the Simon Says die and stamped the sentiment.   My outer mat looks black but is in fact a very dark purple which looks awesome with the dark teal.

Entering this into the Easter/Spring challenge at Simon Says Stamp

Thanks for stopping by.

Card exchanges....

There is nothing nicer than getting a home made card in the post.. so I always enjoy taking part in card exchanges....  Greta organised two over at the Love....Handmade cards, ATCs and other Crafts Flickr group and I took got to send cards to Canada and the Netherlands

First up is my card that went to Canada.  It was in a Religious Easter Card exchange

Rejoice

I used a Sizzix embossing folder and a Tim Holtz Diffuser.  I used some distress ink to sponge around the edges.  The cross and sentiment are from Inkadinkado.    And here is the inside

Inside of Easter card.

My second card was for the Secular Easter/Spring challenge and winged it's way to the Netherlands.

Easter Wishes

I used a Penny Black cling stamp and a new Spellbinders Die. Had a bit of an issue with this.. Stamped the image, coloured it in and then went to die cut it....and DID NOT use wax paper.... BIG MISTAKE!!!.... the card tore and all sorts of tragic things. So re-stamped.... but it was not quite in the middle and when I die cut,  part of the little trolley got chomped.... so rather than start all over again, I simply fussy cut the first coloured image and laid it over the second image. Card saved.... Added a little Verve sentiment. (Note to self - for the third year running.... get some Easter sentiments!)

Today over at Die Cut Divas, I had the pleasure of sharing a video from Wendy Jones from Scottie Crafts.  Do hop over and have a look... she was highlighting Spellbinders De-Lite dies. Some incredibly beautiful cards and LO's from Wendy and the team there.

Had an incredibly relaxing weekend away.... only had my iPhone, so not much time on the internet.... took some printed images and my Copics and did a little colouring

Lots of practising for my little notebook and some images to make up into cards.

Thanks for persevering with my long post today... Wishing you all a happy week full of crafting fun.

Purple Haze....

Yesterday over at Virginia's blog, I saw a beautiful Ombre effect card Virginia made.... It got me thinking.... and I pulled out some new stamps and my purple distress inks.   And here's what came about

It's your day

I clear embossed the Leafy Vine then used 4 distress inks to do a resist technique, inking from light to dark down the card.   I had the purple lace sitting on my desk and it was just what I needed.  I stamped the sentiment in Archival ink.  I'll add a Happy Birthday inside.

This card is being entered into a couple of challenges
City Crafters Challenge. ~ Inspired by a song - "Purple Haze" by Jimi Hendricks
Moxie Fab World ~ The Ombre Challenge
A Blog Named Hero ~ make your own embellishment ( the flower)
and Hero Arts monthly challenge ~ Spring

We are off to the beach this weekend... delivering a claw foot bath for our friends.  They will be setting it up in the yard to have an outdoor bath area.  They intend to have some gas heating so they can have a nice hot bath outdoors.

I have a great post set up over at Die Cut Divas for tomorrow (USA PST)  ~ we have an awesome guest designer!!!!  Do pop over and have a look.  Here's a little sneak peek of one of the cards our guest has designed.

Enjoy your weekend.

The Easter Bunny is coming .

Today is the start of a new challenge over at Mygrafico and I chose to make a little gift box to hold some Easter Chocolates.

I used two sets from Shery K Designs,

 and

and here is what I made

I started by printing the PP onto some light weight card and then put it through the printer again and printed the little gift bag.  I really like how Shery K Designs have the SVG patterns and JPEG for gift bag.  As I don't have an electronic cutter, I was able to print out and cut and fold the bag.   It is just big enough to fit two chocolates inside

The little Bunny with my gift bag is one I made a few years ago.  It's all hand sewn.

As usual this two week challenge is a "ANYTHING GOES" challenge.  If we have over 100 entries in our challenge we'll draw TWO winners...that's right the more people that play the more prizes we'll give away!!!
So...Please link directly to your newly created project (not just to your blog).  And depending on the number of participants there will be one or two winners this go round.  You will have until midnight, Sunday, March 24th to link up your project!

"Leprechaun" @ Red Carpet Studio

Our card challenge this week at Red Carpet Studio is to use two shades of Green on your card.   And our challenge was inspired by the movie "Leprechaun"

Our fabulous sponsor this week is Clearly Digi Stamps! One lucky, randomly chosen winner will receive a $15 gift certificate to their shop.

Pop over to the blog for all the details and guidelines about our challenge.

So here is my sample this week

IMG_6686

This card uses two different PP's and I used some watercoloured paper in green tones to make my frame.  I stamped the Judkins stamp onto some pinky watercoloured paper.  I used Copics to colour the stamp.  I added the little sentiment from Verve stamps in the corner and finished with a row of black gems around the oval.

Green is the theme for a number of challenges at the moment and this card is entered into
Simon Says Stamp challenge.  Green is my theme over at Die Cut Diva's too

I look forward to seeing you Green cards over at Red Carpet Studio.
