I have a work colleague turning 50 shortly so thought a card with 50 on it was in order.... just so she wouldn't forget...
I used some of my water-coloured paper for a background. I cut it and matted onto silver mirror card. I cut the Tim Holtz birdcage out of the same card but coloured with some butterscotch alcohol ink to give a slightly gilded look. I used a scrap of PP to cut out the bird which I inked the edges of with vintage photo distress ink. I added a dot of black Enamel Accents for the eye. The flower is one I made a while ago, also using a TH die. The centre pearl was one I got at Spotlight.... they come on long wires which I curled up behind the flower. Picked up a packet of 6 for 50 cents on sale. The PP was some scraps of a double sided paper I had in my scrap bin ( so don't know the make now) Cut out the "50" from a CB alpha die set and highlighted with yellow Copics ( to symbolise Golden 50. Finished with a tiny sentiment from Hero Arts.
Hubby arrived home this evening.... so pleased to have him back.... now for some "US" time .... just for a while then we can think of heading off for some vacation time later in the year... maybe to Perth..... why there you may ask..... well in just under 4 weeks our darling daughter and her husband are moving there..... Perth is in Western Australia for those of you who don't know where it is.... 7 1/2 hours by plane from Auckland..... feeling sad to see them go, but happy for them.... a big adventure........... I wish them all the very best for their future....
Hope you weekend is fun and filled with family and crafting time. Take care

Hi Dawn, thanks again for all my b'day wishes :D. Your card is a stunner I'd happily be 50 if I was going to get this ;). When are you thinking of going to WA? We are planning on going later this year as well - maybe if we timed it right we could catch up again xoxoxo
Beautiful! Lovely cage and the effect of the inks of the shimmery cardstock. Glad to know your DH is home safe with you.
