It was a very sad afternoon here in New Zealand when our 2nd largest city was hit again by a major earthquake 6.3 magnitude at 12.51pm. Although not as large as the one in Sept 2010, this one was nearer the CBD and much shallower and has caused more major damage in the central city and at present a death toll of 65 with more expected. This is the sort of thing we think of as happening elsewhere..... not in our backyard. Christchurch is know as the "Garden City".... it is very beautiful and serene........ but no more!
Just devastating.... There have been a total of over 4857 earthquakes since Sept 4 2010. People were just coming to terms with rebuilding and feeling a little better but this has put them back to square one.... My thoughts and prayers are with everyone done there..... please can you do the same....
And thank you to those of you who have enquired that I am ok.... much appreciated that you thought of me.... we are lucky to live quite a way North....
Take care

Dawn I was so upset when I saw the news tonight. They've been broadcasting what happened in Christchurch non-stop all afternoon. I am so relieved that you & your family are ok & am thinking of all those less fortunate. Keep your chin up & sending lots of hugs xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Dawn, I couldn't believe it when I heard the dreadful news this morning. I'm glad you and your family are safe. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone there. I hadn't realised there had been so many earthquakes in New Zealand since 2010.

Hi Dawn! So sorry to hear about the earthquake in your country :> I am so happy that you and your family are safe! By the way I thought of you in church yesterday, On March 2 a pastor from NZ Paul Dejong is coming to speak to my church. His church is Life church, have you heard of him? I look forward to hearing him speak and hearing his accent!
Dawn, I tried to comment this morning, in vain! So glad to hear you are safe. We have friends living in Christchurch, Hawford Street who have an office there and live in this town. In the mean time we have heard they are safe although major damage was done to their properties. The people must be traumatized having had to deal with more than 4000 tremors since September! We met this couple in Myrtle Beach this Autumn and they told us how uncomfortable it is to live in such conditions, that they deliberately chose to sleep in the basement, etc....
Thanks for this blog post!
Keep safe!!
I'm glad to hear you're safe, Dawn. I'm praying for all affected by this trajedy.

Dawn, I'm so pleased that you're all okay but my heart goes out to the people of ChristChurch - I cannot believe they've had so many earthquakes since September 10. This is the first I'd heard of any of them. You're all in my prayers.
I'm with Deborah - my heart goes out to you all in NZ! I was there at this time 5 years ago and am so worried about the wonderful people we met there! Thinking of you all!!
