Happy New Year...

Not quite yet.... but today's card is to celebrate New Year.

Happy New Year

I saw a challenge over at Cute Card Thursday ~ to be inspired by Fireworks.... 5th Nov is Guy Fawkes Night in the UK and also here in NZ.  The story behind it can be found here.  I chose to be inspired by fireworks.... sometimes we save our fireworks ( only on sale in NZ from 2nd to the 5th of Nov) and set them off at New Years.    This is a hybrid card... the city scape is a digi stamp from Hero Arts ( currently on sale at 2 Peas) called Silly Scape.  I printed it onto my card and then onto computer paper to make a mask.  I then sponged Stormy Sky and Pumice Stone distress ink for my night sky.  My fireworks were made with a flower stamp from Hero Arts.... the flower head only of the Silhouette Burst.  I used yellow and red markers to colour.  I coloured the city scape with Copics and then finished by matting the panel onto red then cream card.  Added a computer generated sentiment and some gems and stickles.  Not sure if it is cute enough for the challenge... but adding it anyway... also for Hero Arts bling challenge.

Now, in answer to some questions about yesterdays post...  this many cocoons for the Monarchs is a just a few more than usual... today Peter counted a total of 28 and lots more still to come...

Normally we get 10 or so.... but this year the butterflies have come early to lay their eggs and there seems an abundance.  I'll try and get some photos of some hatching...  we are going to have a very pretty sight this summer with all these butterflies.

Thanks for visiting ~ as usual I really appreciate you taking the time to call by and leave me such delightful comments.

Hugs

Dawn

Hi Dawn, Love the card It looks amazing & I love that you used a flower to make the fireworks. Here in Australia it's illegal to have fireworks unless you live in the Northern Territory & then you can set them off on one day of the year (not sure when). The Butterflies are amazing as well, love hearing a bit more about them. Good luck with the challenge xoxoxoxoxo
