Chinese New Year and a bit of a laugh..

This week is the start of a new challenge over at Mygrafico.  This week for inspiration some of the team worked with a set by Deasy Designs (here)  It's a Freebie.

Here's what I did

Chinese New Year

I had the piece of watercolour paper sitting on my desk.  I put it through my printer with the sentiment  where I wanted it and the Chinese word at the top.  I printed the snake onto plain card and coloured and cut out .  The panel was trimmed with decorative scissors and matted onto the embossed and distressed panel.  Added some Kindyglitz to the hat of the snake.   Now I have to tell you a story about my Chinese word.... I was giving this card to the girl I sit next to at work.  She is Twainese Chinese and when she saw the card, she nearly fell off her chair laughing..... Apparently the word does not say HAPPY as I thought, but it says "ADJECTIVE".  I typed the word in my Word doc and used the Translate button.  I thought the first thing I saw must have been the translation!!!!!  But it was like a dictionary but in Chinese and what I thought was the word, wasn't!!!!  She really thought it funny.  She was going to give it to her children, who don't read Chinese.

I also have another card to share, using the same digi stamp I used in last challenge...this time I used Copics to colour

Just saying Hello

I cut the image with a Spellbinders die, added the Hero Arts sentiment in Distress ink and clear embossed.   I enjoyed making this one as Purple is a colour I love working with.

As usual our challenge is "Anything Goes"  There is an exciting change for you too....if we have over 100 entries in our challenge we'll draw TWO winners...that's right the more people that play the more prizes we'll give away!!!

So...Please link directly to your newly created project (not just to your blog).  And depending on the number of participants there will be one or two winners this go round.  You will have until Sunday, March 10th to link up your project!

Aw... this IS funny! Like your Taiwanese friend (I am one as well), I see it as "adjective"! Your thoughtfulness and effort are absolutely priceless! For me, it's a KEEPER! What a sweet card!

These cards are so nice, Dawn! I've often wondered if the stamps that have these Asian writings on them are really words and, if so, what they actually mean. The snake image is very comical and I love your coloring on both cards.

Loved your story, Dawn, and I grinned big-time. I'm always a little nervous when using a language I don't know. But, I know your friend appreciated your kindness and this cute little snake. Love that background. Also, the flower card is lovely - great use of the white space!
