"School of Rock" @ Red Carpet Studio

Our challenge this week is inspired by Jack Black and his movie "School of Rock"  ~ to make a Back to School card.  I have to say I almost forgot to make my card for the challenge... in fact last night I suddenly realised I should have had done by Thursday last week.... Panic stations!!!!

But good old Bugaboo to the rescue.  Off I went to the website and purchased this image... They have heaps of images suitable for Back to School cards.

Here's what I did

The background is from MyGrafico (Lindsay's Stamp Stuff)  I distressed round the edge and added some black ink and smudged some black ink over it.  I printed out Deacon and coloured with Copics.  I coloured the blackboard with a black Copic and then using a white gel pen I wrote the alphabet.  I finished by fussy cutting Deacon and adding some glossy accents to the apples.

Be sure to hop over to the blog and see what the others created and join us with your Back to School cards.

ETA:  Added to the Linky party over at Craftin Desert Diva's (Thanks for the heads up Tara)
and Back to school over at The Paper Nest Dolls challenge.

Owl Get Well @ Mygrafico

Another new challenge starts over at Mygrafico this week... Anything Goes again.   Last challenge there were 193 entries... so there were two random prizes...

This week I chose a gorgeous owl set from Cupcake Cutiees

This set is already coloured so I used my Publisher to build up the page.  I did a bit of a play on words for my sentiment.   I printed it out and layered onto my card base and added lots of stickles to the body.  I added some Glossy Accents to the eyes and feet.

The very sweet owl toy in my photo was made for me by my niece Vicky.   Isn't it sweet.

So do pop over to the blog and see what the other's have come up with, and join us in our challenge.

Thanks for stopping by.  I really appreciate all my followers.

No stamps were inked to make this card.....

Yes... I've done a totally digi hybrid card today for the latest Mygrafico inspiration.    I chose to use a set by Shery K....

This is a free set that has cutting files and printable files ~ so if you are in a hurry... this is a great card to just print and cut... but as it comes with all the elements as separate files, I was able to make the card with a few personal touches.

Feel Better Soon

I took the PP and resized it to fit a square card size.  Added the heart and the scallop and then printed it out.  I added a stripe of green card to define the two areas.  I then printed out the heart onto card stock and die cut it with a Spellbinders die.   I imported the banner and added the sentiment over top and printed it out, fussy cut and added to the panel.  I added some flowers and a button tied with some twine, a pink pearl and the little corner embellishment.   Another one of my handmade teddies as an accompaniment.

So as you can see, you can do it the easy way or add your own touches with this kit.   Pop over to the challenge blog and see what the other's have made.  And join our Anything Goes challenge and have a chance to win some digi images.

Off to have a quick play before bed.  Got my next month's sets from Mygrafico and can't wait to start creating.

The Easter Bunny is coming .

Today is the start of a new challenge over at Mygrafico and I chose to make a little gift box to hold some Easter Chocolates.

I used two sets from Shery K Designs,

 and

and here is what I made

I started by printing the PP onto some light weight card and then put it through the printer again and printed the little gift bag.  I really like how Shery K Designs have the SVG patterns and JPEG for gift bag.  As I don't have an electronic cutter, I was able to print out and cut and fold the bag.   It is just big enough to fit two chocolates inside

The little Bunny with my gift bag is one I made a few years ago.  It's all hand sewn.

As usual this two week challenge is a "ANYTHING GOES" challenge.  If we have over 100 entries in our challenge we'll draw TWO winners...that's right the more people that play the more prizes we'll give away!!!
So...Please link directly to your newly created project (not just to your blog).  And depending on the number of participants there will be one or two winners this go round.  You will have until midnight, Sunday, March 24th to link up your project!

Chinese New Year and a bit of a laugh..

This week is the start of a new challenge over at Mygrafico.  This week for inspiration some of the team worked with a set by Deasy Designs (here)  It's a Freebie.

Here's what I did

Chinese New Year

I had the piece of watercolour paper sitting on my desk.  I put it through my printer with the sentiment  where I wanted it and the Chinese word at the top.  I printed the snake onto plain card and coloured and cut out .  The panel was trimmed with decorative scissors and matted onto the embossed and distressed panel.  Added some Kindyglitz to the hat of the snake.   Now I have to tell you a story about my Chinese word.... I was giving this card to the girl I sit next to at work.  She is Twainese Chinese and when she saw the card, she nearly fell off her chair laughing..... Apparently the word does not say HAPPY as I thought, but it says "ADJECTIVE".  I typed the word in my Word doc and used the Translate button.  I thought the first thing I saw must have been the translation!!!!!  But it was like a dictionary but in Chinese and what I thought was the word, wasn't!!!!  She really thought it funny.  She was going to give it to her children, who don't read Chinese.

I also have another card to share, using the same digi stamp I used in last challenge...this time I used Copics to colour

Just saying Hello

I cut the image with a Spellbinders die, added the Hero Arts sentiment in Distress ink and clear embossed.   I enjoyed making this one as Purple is a colour I love working with.

As usual our challenge is "Anything Goes"  There is an exciting change for you too....if we have over 100 entries in our challenge we'll draw TWO winners...that's right the more people that play the more prizes we'll give away!!!

So...Please link directly to your newly created project (not just to your blog).  And depending on the number of participants there will be one or two winners this go round.  You will have until Sunday, March 10th to link up your project!

Mygrafico ~ Anything goes

Another challenge over at Mygrafico and it's an anything goes again.  This is proving a fun theme so we are sticking with it... and if there are over 100 entrants not one but two prizes will be drawn.

I got to use this set from Mujka Chic called Whimsy Flora Elements 2

I printed out a number of the elements and coloured in a variety of mediums.  Today's card used aqua crayons and some pretty PP.

I printed it the flower onto some watercolour paper and used the aqua crayons to colour it in.  I took a Hero Arts stamp and added the sentiment.  The PP's are from a My Mind's Eye pack.   I made this card while I was away earlier this month and only had limited supplies, but was really pleased with the result.

Now it's your turn.  Pop over to the blog (here) and see what wonderful projects the other DT members came up with and link up your "anything goes" creations to be in to win some Mygrafico images of your choice.

Mygrafico ~ Enjoy every moment.

Welcome to this weeks challenge at Mygrafico..... It's an anything goes challenge, so we would love to have you join us.   All the design team members got to choose a set to us, and we all came up with some fabulous projects.

I decided to use this set by DreAmLoft

Nutcracker Suite Frames and Labels

Although it is a Christmas set, I'm here to show you the versatility of using digi images.

I printed the frame onto my white card and using some Weathered Wood I distressed around the edges.  It was the perfect colour to match the colour on the digi.  I matted the panel onto some dark red card.  I took a scrap of white card and using the distress ink covered it to get just the right coloured card for the blue flowers.   The sentiment in the middle is a Hero Arts stamp.

Today is our 35th Wedding Anniversary.  21st January 1978 ~

This is the Certificate of Attainment that my parents gave us.  They got my brother to make it up.  The photo behind the words is Peter and I on our wedding day.  If you are interested there are some more of our wedding photos on this post from last year.

Wishing you all a great week.

Mygrafico ~ New Year's inspiration

We are back with some fabulous inspiration from Mygrafico to start the New Year.  It's another Anything Goes challenge... so do join us.

For my project this week, I used this set from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff

Recipe Stamps & SVG Special!

As I don't have an electronic cutting machine, I'm happy that the set has printable PNG/JPEG images so that you can print and cut by hand.  I used a set of Double sided PP to make the folio and added PP from a magazine to the dividers.  I printed out my recipes onto the cards and stamped a Hero Arts fern.

Do come and join us.

I survived my first day back at work for the New Year.  I went for a walk after work along the beach at Takapuna.  Wished I had my bathing togs as the water was wonderfully warm.  Over the weekend I swam on both Saturday and Sunday.   We had nice hot sunny days.  We went down to the beach after dropping Mum and Dad at the airport.   When I got home after my walk, I did 30 mins on the exercise bike.... so feeling a bit stiff now!

I'm off to make a card with a new image I got today from Alicia's Little Shop for her challenge.  More practise with the Copics

Have a great week.

Mygrafico Inspirational Monday

It a Mygrafico challenge ~ Anything goes!.  Do come and join us... you could win a fantastic Mygrafico prize.   This week the team got to chose any set to use so there's lots of great inspiration from us all.... Pop over to the blog and take a look.

I chose to use this set from Alexsma Designs.

I paired up one of the frames with some Hero Arts stamps. I printed the frame three times... one for the base, one for the layered middle portion and one to cut out the leaves.  I stamped the Hero Arts snowman and fussy cut it.  Coloured with Copics, added Stickles and Glossy Accents.  I added Kindyglitz to the snowflakes along the top.  The sentiment is from the same Hero Arts set as the snowman.

Just over two weeks till Christmas !!!!!!  Yikes!!!!!   hope your plans are going well.   I'm almost sorted.  Getting the Christmas tree this weekend.   We always have a real tree so can't have it too soon.  My parents arrive on Saturday and next week is our neighbourhood party on Wed evening.  Plus my works lunch on Thursday.  Thank goodness I finish work on the 21st and am off till the 7th Jan.  So looking forward to the break!

"Frosty the Snowman" @ Red Carpet Studio

Sunday again and time for the fun challenge over at Red Carpet Studio.
It a card challenge to use a Snowman or Snowflakes.  Easy?  YES!  Pop over and see what we came up with to inspire you.

The sponsor this week is Crafty Sentiments! The winner will receive their choice of three digital stamps.

The team got to work with some delightful images from our sponsors.  I just loved them.  First up is the card you'll see on the blog.
I used this delightful image here

I found the globe on line here.  I printed it twice so I could cut the base to add over top of the black frame.  Once I had printed one with the image on, I coloured with Copics and added lots of stickles.

My second card used another of the images from Crafty Sentiments Design

Snowman

I printed and coloured and added lots of Kindyglitz and Sakura gel pen. Matched it with some PP from DCWV Christmas mat stack and white embossed the sentiment from Hero Arts.    Punched and coloured the snowflakes with the Sakura pen and added some gems.

Please join us at Red Carpet Studio with your snowman or snowflake cards.

Had a fun weekend away, but now lots and lots of blogs to catch up on.
