"We Bought a Zoo" @ Red Carpet Studio

Today is my last challenge as a DT member for Red Carpet Studio... the past year has simply flown by... thank you Ashely for including me in this wonderful challenge blog....

This week's challenge is inspired by the film "We Bought a Zoo"

I went with the Zoo theme (well sort of) with my card

Lion Birthday

This card was also made for Die Cut Divas as well...It uses an image from QKR Stampede  and using Paula sketch (here)

I coloured the image with Copics using the colourless blender to make some texture on the mane. The edging is a Fiskars punch and the sentiment is one of my favourites from Montarga

I've had a fun crafty weekend ~ got up at 7.00am this morning to scramble with the Hero Arts girls... and did some DT work for Die Cut Divas and Chalk'n'stock.  And even had time to cook a roast lamb for dinner last night for my son and his partner who came over to watch the rugby and take them out for breakfast this morning...

"School of Rock" @ Red Carpet Studio

Our challenge this week is inspired by Jack Black and his movie "School of Rock"  ~ to make a Back to School card.  I have to say I almost forgot to make my card for the challenge... in fact last night I suddenly realised I should have had done by Thursday last week.... Panic stations!!!!

But good old Bugaboo to the rescue.  Off I went to the website and purchased this image... They have heaps of images suitable for Back to School cards.

Here's what I did

The background is from MyGrafico (Lindsay's Stamp Stuff)  I distressed round the edge and added some black ink and smudged some black ink over it.  I printed out Deacon and coloured with Copics.  I coloured the blackboard with a black Copic and then using a white gel pen I wrote the alphabet.  I finished by fussy cutting Deacon and adding some glossy accents to the apples.

Be sure to hop over to the blog and see what the others created and join us with your Back to School cards.

ETA:  Added to the Linky party over at Craftin Desert Diva's (Thanks for the heads up Tara)
and Back to school over at The Paper Nest Dolls challenge.

The Hangover @ Red Carpet Studio

It's the card design team's turn to inspire you over at Red Carpet Studio and our inspiration movie is "The Hangover"

The challenge is to include a drink or cocktail on your card.   I don't have many stamps or digis that are drink orientated, but do have a Bugaboo image that does... so here is my card

Had a lot of fun colouring this one in.  I used the computer to create the sentiment.   I finished off with a Spellbinders Poinsettia.

Be sure to visit the blog  and see what the others have come up with and join us with or drinks/cocktail cards.

Thanks for stopping by.

Christmas in July Blog Hop

Edited:  I'm having an issue with blogger.  If you can't leave a comment, please head over to the Red Carpet Studio's site and leave a comment there, that you came here

Just because there's not snow on the ground, doesn't mean Christmas can't be celebrated a few months early! Happy Christmas in July, everyone, and welcome to Red Carpet Studio's Christmas in July blog hop!

If you're unfamiliar with Red Carpet Studio, we're a challenge blog that challenges crafters to create projects inspired by movies! Right now we offer alternating weekly card and layout challenges, but starting in September we'll be opening up our challenges to any types of projects that fit our theme, as well as extending the duration of the challenges to biweekly to give you awesome crafters more time to create and play along! We're also having a design team call!

Now onto my project..

Being that we are inspired by movies.... my card was inspired by the 1954 short film ~ Frosty the Snowman.

My Frosty is a digital image from Crafty Sentiments Design.  I used a Lawn Fawn Polaroid die to cut the red frame.  As I wanted it a bit longer, I trimmed a bit more of the red card and covered the join with the ribbon which also served as my sentiment.  My background PP is from the Christmas paper pad by My Mind's Eye.  I used a punch to make the snowflake and added a pale blue gem

And of course we have some wonderful sponsors giving away gifts to those who are a follower of Red Carpet Studio (either through Google Reader or Blog Lovin') and comment on EVERY stop of the hop!

$5 Gift Certificate

$10 Gift Certificate

5 Digis of Winner's Choice

Winners will be randomly chosen and announced on Tuesday July 23rd along with the winners of our Action Wobble challenge!

Your next stop is Rochelle's blog.

Happy Hopping!

"The Graduate" @ Red Carpet Studio

This week's card challenge at Red Carpet Studio is inspired by "The Graduate"........... so we want you to create a Graduation card.

I decided on a blackboard technique card.... the school theme coming through.  The stamps are from a set by Couture Creations which I white embossed on the black card. I smudged some white ink on the panel.  I stamped the heart in pink and cut it out and added to the panel.  I added the sentiment with my computer onto some patterned paper.

And I have had some BIG news today..... I won the entire NEW EDITION stamps from Penny Black..... how exciting is that.  I 'm over the moon!!!!!  Hubby, though, no so!  He said I have too many stamps already - spoil sport.

Thanks for stopping by today

"Sixteen Candles" @ Red Carpet Studio

This week's inspiration film is "Sixteen Candles" and we want you to create a Birthday card... Easy yes!!!  Our sponsor is Paper Pretties

and we got to choose an image to make our cards.  They have the cutest digi stamps.

Isn't this so cute.  It's the perfect card for a 3 year old!  And it's currently on it's way to a certain sweet little one turning 3 in a little while!

The PP is some freebie stuff I had sitting on the desk.  I cut out some white card with the Spellbinders die and then sponged some pink distress ink while the die was still in place.  I printed and coloured the image and fussy cut.  Added some Glossy Accents to the balloon and the nose.  The sentiment  is from a Hero Arts set.

This card has been added to the Paper Craft Idol Gallery 2013.
Entered also into the challenge over at Crafting When  We Can ~ using punches/Die cuts

So lets see your birthday cards over at Red Carpet Studio.

"Baby Mama" @Red Carpet Studio

This week's inspiration at Red Carpet Studio is the movie "Baby Mama" and your challenge is to make a Baby Card.  Our sponsor this week is Eureka Stamps

Our DT got to chose a digital stamp to use and I chose this one
digi40204 Baby Animals

and here is my card

I printed out the digi and coloured it with Copics.  I made a bit of a mess with my sentiment not going on straight, so saved by stamping it on a scrap of the PP and punching it out with a Stampin' Up oval.  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up as well.  I borrowed the stamp from my friend, Sandie, when I spend the day stamping at her place.  Finished with some gems and a ribbon bow.

And as it Mother's Day here in NZ, I wish you all a very Happy Mother's Day.  My son came over for dinner which was lovely.  The weather was beautiful and sunny so it was a good day

Our fabulous sponsor this week is Dilly Beans Digi Stamps! One lucky, randomly chosen winner will receive three digis of their choice!

Dilly Beans provided the design team with an image of our choice.  I chose this one

 Thanks

I cropped the image and cut it out with Lawn Fawn die... the Polaroid one.   Added the sentiment with white embossing.  The PP is from MME and the purple edging is a Martha Stewart punch.  Finished with some satin ribbon with a large pearl brad.

Pop dotted up from the bride and groom. Added some Prima flowers, a MFT scroll and a die cut heart ( top of a heart key die). Vintage @ Red Carpet Studios

Welcome back for another challenge at Red Carpet Studio.  This week's card challenge is inspired by Hollywood Noir films....so create a Vintage card.

I like Vintage/Shabby Chic cards but not always sure I can pull it off, but was happy with today's project.

Shades of pink and purple

My lovely PP available for free from my fellow Red Carpet Studio DT member Olga, available here.  She has some beautiful papers that are all free.   I printed out the paper increasing the colour tone and saturation a little.  Not sure who produces the butterfly die as I've lost the package it came in. I sponged it with some soft pinks and purples and once I had the ribbon and flower on, spritzed it with some Adironack Colour wash. The doily was also sponged with shades of pink and purple.     This one is a bit more Shabby Chic than vintage... so hope over to the blog and see the fun Vintage cards created by the team.

Had a lovely weekend visiting with our friends in Te Puke.  It's been nearly 2 years since we have seen them.  Here is this morning's brunch

Bacon, lambs fry, tomatoes, fried potatoes, poached eggs, mushroom sauce.   Deliish!!!!

We also visited Hubby's sister in Papamoa and then stopped off to drop something off at our friend's Mum in Ngatea... so it was a long afternoon trip home.

Well time to catch up with all the blog posts I've missed this weekend.

Have a great week.

Happy Easter @ Red Carpet Studio

I'm a bit late with my Red Carpet Studio post today, as I've only got back from my weekend away with my family.   We had an amazing three nights over on Waiheke Island in the Hauraki Gulf.  It took around 45 mins on the car ferry from Auckland city, but is like a world away.  The weather stayed beautiful, a few showers overnight, but great days with lots of sun.   I even made it into the water..... was very warm.

Anyway on to the challenge over at Red Carpet Studio.   As it's the 5th Saturday in the month, it's a combined card and LO challenge or you can make something other!   As long as it is Easter based project.

Our sponsor this week is Verve Stamps
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg39TzZOP-SVuar53YGiV43vP_mvezhdxT2dVd_I6fYeUaeX9GOkG-FEOC20t00hB9YNFa1ZBY6qkFm8ll-3DdEw7aqQO94sCMAVGLUgUlY6oVWRkq3IE1a6lCH10IDktEkamgNDiu9RPae/s1600/Verve+Stamps.gif
and the Design team were lucky enough to get to work with a cute little set

I made a little gift tag and attached to a little bag of chocolates  and then made a card as well

This was a super cute set to work with and I used the sentiments on many of my Easter cards this year.

Now I will leave you with a photo from yesterday morning, looking out from the deck of the bach we rented on the Island

and the lovely Krista  provided the design team with an image of their choice.  I chose an imaged called "Princess Red Rose"

Rose Red

I coloured her and cut with a Spellbinders label die.  The lace edging is a Martha Stewart punch.  All the PP are from Prima.  Die cut flourish and paper roses to finish.  The sentiment is a Hero Arts Sparkle clear mini set on a SU punched oval.
