Use a die as a stencil... Die Cut Divas

Hi all

It's the last day of the month so the current challenge at Die Cut Divas is finishing today.

Kat Scrappiness is our sponsor this month at Die Cut Divas.
(new stamps, dies, stencils, embossing powders or folders, papers, digital images)

Today I am using a die cut as a stencil.... I was colouring up a white Mandala die cut to use of my earlier Die Cut Divas sample card HERE - so decided to use a sheet of white card behind the die cut and hey presto it was like using the die cut as a stencil.

I used a Couture Creations die "Anastasia"  To make it really pop I layered onto some black card and then onto the white square card base.  The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp "Tiny Words Encouragement" embossed in white onto some black card.  Finished with some dark magenta sequins.

Kat Scrapiness has a lot of wonderful dies as well as stamps = both their own brand as well as many other companies goodies.

Come and join us at Die Cut Divas.

For my project today I am inspired by wonderful golden/orange palette of the Fall foliage.

The basis for my card was the stamped leaves I made awhile back with my Gelli plate, some Altenew inks and stamps.  This piece was the stamp off piece as I was making patterns with the leaves onto the Gelli plate. I overstamped the outline leaves in a darker orange.  My Thankful die is from Catherine Pooler Designs and the little For You is from Catherine Pooler Designs "Autumn Blessings" stamp set.

What do you do in your free time?

Our theme this month at Die Cut Diva was "Free Time" and our sponsor was Di's Digis.

I live near the beach so free time is often spend there in the summer.  Our local beach, Murrays Bay has a boating club and there are always yachts coming and going.  So this was my inspiration for this card.

I used Penny Black's Sunny Days set to stamp this cute cat in his boat.  I colour with Alcohol markers.  The circle die cut is from Simon Says Stamp.  My background is some patterned paper from my stash.  I thought it looked like the sea and sky.   I used a little die from Craft Creations Mega Nesting Rectangles for the sentiment and added a bronze anchor die cut with a freebie Nautical die set.

Today is the last day to enter our challenge.  Would love to have you join us.  Entries close at 9.00pm Pacific time.

Summer Birthday card at Die Cut Divas

It's the last day of the month so it's a Thank you to our sponsor over at Die Cut Divas.  Our lovely sponsor was Elizabeth Craft Designs - and the team have been using their products for the month.

https://www.elizabethcraftdesigns.com/

I chose to make a "Hot" Summer card using ECD Flower Power stamps and dies

I started by making a background piece using some watercolour paper and some green Zig Marker.  I used lots of water to move around the marker.  Once the panel had dried, I used an Altenew stencil and some Bamboo ink to add a bit of texture.  I added some black watercolour splatters.   For my flowers I used more watercolour paper and stamped the flowers with some soft brown inks.  I used Zig markers and water to colour them in and used the matching dies to cut them out.  I stamped the sentiment from an ECD stamp set - Build you own sentiments #1.  I added the main flower with dimensional tape and the rest I stuck directly to base.

You still have today to join us.  Our challenge closes at 9.00pm August 31st.

Hello Lovely Ellie

Hi.  It's my day to share over at Die Cut Divas

Our sponsor this month is Elizabeth Craft Designs and our theme is "HOT"

For my card I used ECD - Elephant die and Party Accessories die .  Elephants live in HOT climates... a bit of push... but here you go.

I used some grey and pink card to die cut out the pieces of the elephant die.  I decided I need to give her some arms.  I edged the pieces with some ink - dark grey on the grey card and some pink on the ears.  I used a piece of gold ink gelli print paper that I had made a while back to make my background.  I added some green card to make my grass with a Fiskers punch.  I added my little Elephant and gave her a crown.    The sentiment is from a Concord and Ninth set.

So do come and join us this month at Die Cut Divas

It's Birthday time at Die Cut Divas

Hi all...   June is birthday month here at Die Cut Divas... and June is my birthday month.  My birthday was 14th and it's one of my friend's birthday today (25th) so what better than to share her birthday card here.

Our sponsor this month has a HUGE variety of dies that would be perfect for a birthday card.  I used an Elizabeth Craft Design's large Happy Birthday die that can be purchased from Cheapo Dies

This was such a quick card to make.  I used some marbled Patterned paper and add some glittered contact vinyl to card stock before die cutting the sentiment.  As it is such a big die, it take pride of place on the card.  A few sequins and some layering and it was done.

Do come and join us at Die Cut Divas with your Birthday projects.  Just remember you must use your die cut machine... dies, or embossing.... somewhere on your card.

Thanks for stopping by.

Versatile Vases

It's my day to share at Die Cut Divas again... Our sponsor is the amazing Altenew
if you have been a follower of mine for anytime, you will know that I adore Altenew stamps, dies, inks, stencils etc. so I'm super happy that they are our sponsor this month.

I recently got the Versatile Vases stamp and stencil set.   I knew it would be perfect for our theme this month  "water"

I started by stamping, masking, and some ink blending on my vase and the flower from Fresh Freesia set.  My original idea was to have the vase on a single layer but of course, a spludge of colour happened.  So change of plans... after colouring with a mixture of watercolour markers, Alcohol markers and Prismacolor pencils, I fussy cut the image and added to an embossed background.   I used Evening Grey ink to stamp the images and the sentiment and a brick folder from Sizzix.

Thanks for stopping by today.  No baby yet!  Today is due day but I'm betting that maybe Thurs or Friday.

Sunrise over the Sea

Hi.  It's my day to shine at Die Cut Divas.
Our theme this month is Water and our fabulous Sponsor is
Altenew is one of my favourite companies at the moment.  They have a lot of beautiful floral stamps and all sorts of other stamps, dies and stencils.  For my card today I'm using a stamp set called "Be A Lighthouse"  I was inspired by a tutorial I saw over at Splitcoaststampers about making a sunrise scene.

I started with some Sapphire ink to stamp the water several times, slightly moving each time.  I used my blender brushes to add some colour with the same ink.  I then masked it off, die cut a circle to use as a mask as well, and then used a variety of Altenew inks (Honey Drizzle, Autumn Blaze, Heart Beat, Vineyard Berry and Cosmic Berry) to blend onto the watercolour card.  Once I removed the mask, I lightly sponged the Yellow ink over the sun.  I added the lighthouse, and the gulls.  Finished with a sentiment from the same set.  I use a die to cut it out, and then used a couple of the larger dies to emboss around the panel for some texture.

Due to a the big transformation/system upgrade at the NZ Inland Revenue Department (where I work) is closed down from last Thurs and not reopening till Friday 26th so I've had a few days off.  Lots of fun crafting time.

Water, water, water....

Hi.  It's the first of the month and a new challenge over at Die Cut Divas.  This month our challenge is Water...(rain, lakes, ocean, streams, rivers, dark clouds full of water, glass of water, tears, just have some sort of water on the card.  And our wonderful sponsor for the month is one of my all time favourite companies.

Hop over to our blog to find out a bit more about Altenew.  And they have kindly sponsored a prize gift card of $20.

As I've said I adore Altenew stamps and have A LOT!  For my card today, I've gone with a die cut flower -

Where's my water you ask?  Well, I add some clear Nuvo drops to look like rain drops on my rose.   Do you like how I've put my sentiment on an slight angle... Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
The rose is one that came free with a magazine.  I die cut it and the leaves from a light weight card stock and then used some Altenew inks to blend on them using my Picket Fence brushes.  The sentiment is a die cut from Catherine Pooler Designs - by CAS-ual Fridays for one of the earlier Stamp of Approval boxes.  The base is a lovely dark gray card and the Patterned Paper is from My Mind's Eye Black and Gray paper pack.  I edged the panel with some silver peelcraft sticker edging.

Do come and play along with us with your "water" related creations.

Happy New Year - from our family to yours.

Last day of the year - where has 2018 gone?

This month over at Die Cut Divas we have been celebrating Winter /Winter Holidays with

I've finished the year with a New Year's card - with a winter theme

I love these little winter Polar Bears from Di's Digi... so sweet.  I started by adding the image to my into a Word document and removed the background. I then added a precoloured background (a free download from a magazine) and cropped it to fit behind my bears.  I printed this onto some Bristol paper.  I used Zig Clean Clear markers to colour up the image, using Di's image as inspiration.  Then it was die cut with a Lil'Inkers die.  The sentiment is from a Stamp and Die set I recently purchased.  A bit of stamp surgery was required to get it to fit on my card.  I finished with some Gel pen dots for snow.

Wishing you all a Happy  and Prosperous New Year.
