Baby cards

One of my friends asked me to make a baby card for the son of another friend.  He and his partner had a little girl a little while ago.   So I made two cards for her to chose from.

First card (the one she chose)

I saw a sketch on the web that I used for the base of my card.  It had a circle which I changed to an oval.  I used Gina K Master Layouts 1 to cut the oval and layer.  I stmaped the Elephants from Uniquely Creative's Hey Mama set onto some watercolour paper and used Altenew's Woodless watercolour pencils to add the colour.  I used the matching dies to cut Mama and Baba out.  The gingham paper was added to a pink punched edging.  I stamped the Kaisercraft sentiment directly onto the gingham piece.  A few pink enamal dots finished off my card.

Second card.

For this card I started with sweet Patterned paper.  I then cut the circle and scallopped circle from Spellbinders.  My little bear is from Docrafts -Mini Thinking of You.  I use Uniti alcohol pens to colour my bear and then took a nubbly rag and some of the colourless blender to give the texture of fur.   I fussy cut it out and added to the layered circle.  I stamped the Kaisercraft sentiments directly over the patterned paper.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I had my first COVID immunisation yesterday.  The jab site is a little tender but other than that, I'm feeling good.

WWC304 - Kath's Challenge: All About Occasions

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  Kath is our hostess this week with an All About Occasions challenge.

My card today is for my friend's daughter who gave birth to a sweet little boy, on the 2nd January.

I used my favourite digital image for baby cards.  It's an image from Mo's Digital Pencil called "Hush"  I printed it onto some white card and used coloured pencils (Prismacolor and Jasart) to colour it up.  I added a sentiment stamp from Quietfire Designs.  I couldn't find the one I wanted to add.... it's somewhere in my stash - so went for this rather sweet quote from AA Milne.  I wanted to keep the card clean and simple so just added some scored lines for texture.

Come and join in the fun at  Watercooler Wednesday Challenge and check out the project from the other designers.  Then take our challenge and link up your project to the challenge post.    We'd love to have you join us.  You have until Monday at 5 pm Mountain Standard Time (Tuesday at 12.00 noon NZ time) to link up your project.

WWC #256 Kath's Challenge - All about Occasions

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  Kath is our hostess this week with an All About Occasions challenge.

Today I'm sharing a card with you that is for my friend's son and his partner.  Their little girl arrived early on the 25 January.  Her name is Beatrix.

I used a Whimsy digital stamp called Baby Ellie.  I printed her out and used my Scan'N'Cut to cut around the image.  I coloured using my Prismacolor pencils.  I added the image to a dark pink panel and stamped the two sentiments from a Kaisercraft set.

Come and join the fun.  Check out the projects that the other artists at  Watercooler Wednesday challenge have created.  Then take our challenge and link your creation to the challenge post.  We'd love to have you join us.  You have until Monday at 5 pm Mountain Standard Time (Tuesday at 12.00 noon NZ time) to link up your project

WWW234 Dawn's All About Occasions Challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  It's my turn to be the hostess this week with an All About Occasions challenge.

My card today is a celebration of new baby.  Next month one of my work colleagues is a baby boy so I've made this for her.

Isn't this just so sweet...  The Mama and baby giraffe are from a stamp set called Hey Mama - Critter Cuddles.  It's by an Australian company called Uniquely Creative.  I used a mixture of Altenew, Spectrum Noir and Copic makers. I used the matching dies to cut out the stamp. The background is another seconds stencil from Faith Pocock Crafts.  As long as you tape the stencils down well, they work perfectly.  I used Iceberg ink from Altenew to blend through the stencil.  The sentiment is a white embossed from Little One by Kaisercraft onto some soft grey card.  I finished with a little heart die from a Catherine Pooler Designs die set cut from red card and with glossy accents.

Come join in the fun.  Check out the projects that the artists at Watercooler Wednesday Challenges have created then take the challenge and link your creation to the challenge post. We’d love to have you join us.  You have until Mondays at 5 p.m. Mountain Standard Time (Tuesdays at 11.00am NZ time) to link up your project.

Baby Pram card

I'm back from Perth and already missing my little man..... just look at today's photos

Isn't that the cutest ever.

Squirming around... in his big boy clothes!

Here is the card I made for them.

I die cut the cute baby pram (Couture Creations) from some blue card and did embossing as well.  I trimmed some darker teal card for the top of the pram.  Added some sentiments I had in my stash. The stars are a die cut as well.  The grass is washi tape.

I  am now looking forward to spending some time playing with all the goodies I got while over in Perth.  Managed to meet with Kim and go to the Quilt and Craft Fair and had a bit of a spend up.

Enjoy your week... hope my American friends are enjoying their Memorial Day celebrations.

Baby card in a box,

I got a a commission this week to make a baby girl card in a box.  I was given free rein to do whatever I wanted.  I decided to go with a Vintage look so after a bit of searching around the 'net I found a digital site on Etsy called Digital Chick  which had a lovely set of old fashioned looking images.  I purchased one
Digital Clipart, instant download, vintage baby card images, baby girl, stork, lamb, stuffed bunny, digital collage sheet, 8.5by11, 1391

And here's what I made

The sentiment is a stamp from Fiskars.  The centre was a elephant so I masked it off and then added the little footprints from the set as well.  Once I'd printed out the images, I did lots of fussy cutting to add to the box.

Just a few more commissions to make and then some more Christmas cards as I've sold another 10 at work.  I'm involved in a number of card swaps this year and have a few cards to make for those.

Thanks for visiting.

"Baby Mama" @Red Carpet Studio

This week's inspiration at Red Carpet Studio is the movie "Baby Mama" and your challenge is to make a Baby Card.  Our sponsor this week is Eureka Stamps

Our DT got to chose a digital stamp to use and I chose this one
digi40204 Baby Animals

and here is my card

I printed out the digi and coloured it with Copics.  I made a bit of a mess with my sentiment not going on straight, so saved by stamping it on a scrap of the PP and punching it out with a Stampin' Up oval.  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up as well.  I borrowed the stamp from my friend, Sandie, when I spend the day stamping at her place.  Finished with some gems and a ribbon bow.

And as it Mother's Day here in NZ, I wish you all a very Happy Mother's Day.  My son came over for dinner which was lovely.  The weather was beautiful and sunny so it was a good day

Love my Family....

This weekend has been just wonderful.... I had ALL my family home on Friday night.  Just magic.  My daughter had to sign some legal documentation so made a flying visit home from Perth.  She arrived in Auckland at 5.50 am on Friday.... and was home for breakfast by 7.15am.  Something to eat and a shower and her and I were ready for a day of catching up and shopping.  She signed her documentation, and we hit the shops.  She got a few new dresses and tops, me a dress and an anorak.  In the middle we stopped to visit Emma's friend, Tash and her new baby girl.  Little Bella is 8 days old and was so adorable. She was asleep while we were there, so no cuddles :(  Finally got home at 4.45pm... to find son and his girlfriend here to shower before we all headed out to celebrate ( early) my birthday

My two babies!

All of us

Kieran, his girlfriend Mel and Emma.

We had a delightful dinner at Gaku Teppanyaki in Browns Bay.  Emma said she hadn't had teppanyaki since she left Auckland.    Kieran and Mel stayed the night as they were in the process of moving house over the weekend.

And I'll finish with a share of the card I made for Emma to give Tash

We saw Emma off just after lunch today... a 7 hour flight back to Perth.  Literally a flying visit for her.  Just loved having her home, even for such a short time.

Hope your weekend was a happy as mine has been.

Final Sept Challenge over at Simply Scrapping Crafts ( only a little late!)

Poor Clare has been poorly with a sore throat and fever, so is only a Tad Late for posting the final challenge over at SSC for September....  Yeap it is the final challenge...
Our sponsor for September was EAD Designs.   And our theme is "Baby Cards"

My card is a Hybrid today....

New Baby

I started by printing the Lion image ( from  Meljen's Designs about 18 months ago.) I coloured him with Grey tone Copics and cut him with a Nellie Snellen die.  My PP was some digital gingham ( not sure where I got it though) I used a Fiskars stamp set for the sentiment and finished with a big dark blue bow.  One of my younger friends is expected her second child any time now, so if it's a boy .... this is for Heidi.... but if she has another girl.... well I'll have to get busy.

Had the all clear at the surgeon's yesterday!  He is pleased how the back is doing.  Today I called into work to have a morning tea for my retiring boss.   It's her last day today.  I made the card that everyone signed for her... a bigger one than I usually make.....

Retirement card for my boss

So it's back full time on Monday.... the first three days are on training..... over the other side of town... 35kms away!!!  Will mean a 3/4 hr car trip after I get to work...  That's a bit of a bummer... but I'll cope!

BTW- the carrot cake was a success....  All that was left were 3 small pieces that I bought home for hubby~

Cheers

Having fun on the computer....

My latest edition of Paper Craft Inspirations came with a CD by Docrafts ~ full of the most adorable images, papers, embellishments and lots of extras.  (Over 500 in fact) so last night I loaded it up and made this adorable teddy-bear baby card.

Hybrid Baby Card

The panel is all digitally done, as it teddy.  I did all the layering on the computer and then printed it directly onto cream textured card. I printed the teddy out separately as well to cut and layer.  Add the ribbon ( real) and then layered it on the base card.  Added some Glossy Accents to the bear.  A cute and simple hybrid CAS card.  I totally adore the lovely images that are there.   And the program is so easy to use.  You can print out the images, the papers etc all separately or make up the card then print it out.  I can see myself using the papers and images a bit.

Hope you week is going good.  Please keep Jacqueline in your prayers this week ~ as she starts her chemo.  I will be!

Babies Galore......

this year in my extended family there are a number of babies due.... Debbie ( my brother's daughter) is due at the end of this month, Rachel ( hubby's niece in Canada) is due early July and in September two more of hubby's nieces ~ Nicola and Angela are due... so I thought I'd better get make a supply of baby cards.... I've heard my niece is expecting her second daughter but not too sure on what the others are having so I'll do some girl and some boy cards.  And to make things easier for me, I picked up a set of Fiskars Baby stamps ( 44 clear stamps) for $2.95 in a discount store.... it has lots of little images and words.

Here are the first two cards
Little Angel

Baby Ellie

I started by printing off some patterned paper ~ from a magazine download (here)  I cut it to size and tore the edging and layered onto the pink card.  I then stamped the images and added white gel pen to the giraffe.  I then printed the little angel onto card stock and cut out.  I've had this image forever and have no idea where I got it.... but it is so sweet.  I left a white border round the image as a frame.

The second card was made using up the rest of the patterned paper.  I paper pieced the elephant and then cut it out with a nestibility, adding the scallop circle in the PP as well.  The pink and blue ribbon was sitting on my desk from a card I made earlier in the week, and it just seemed to fit the colours perfectly.   This one could, at a pinch, do either boy or girl... just enough blue on it for a boy...

Well that's me for now... I had a very full on day at a regional meeting and am feeling a bit pooped... do it's off to bed with a magazine....( Craft Stamper ) to have a peek through.  April's issue has just arrived here in NZ... we are usually about a month behind!  Lots of lovely goodies to feast my eyes on...
Thanks for stopping by.... enjoy the rest of your week... nearly the weekend...

Overseas mail ....

I have taken part in Deborah's card chain challenge from the beginning.  I have received cards  from all over the world..... This month I received a delightful card from Corey in Urbana Illinois USA.. and delightful it was.......
Believe it or not, Corey tells me the green stripe is packing tape.... it is so shiny ( doesn't show up well in this photo)  Unfortunately my postie dropped it on the ground ( or it fell out of my letter box) and got rained on.... but I managed to get it dried out okay.  It is just adorable.  Thanks Corey.  As yet I haven't heard if Arlene has received my card so I'll post about that when she does.

Yesterday I picked up the latest addition of Australian Cardmaking, Stamping and Papercraft -  It had a great article on Quilted cards.... using strips of tonal papers but me being me, had to try something different.  This is what I came up with
I used contrasting strips to make my quilting.   When I had finished the 120cm square piece I cut it smaller--- but forgot that the quilting was centred.... but it worked out okay as it meant that you got to see more of the quilting.  The image is one by Meljen Designs that I coloured with water-colour pencils.  I cut out the image with a circle nestie and then matted on a scallop cut from a paint chip.  I wanted the pastel colour to go with the quilt as it reminded me of a baby's quilt.  Added the ribbon and bow and the sentiment from Stampin'Up!

Hope the week is going well for you all.  Take care.

Cards and gifts, more stamps and a new great neice!!!

Got home to find my mail man had been busy was I was away.... a lovely parcel from Suzanne Czosek.  I was the lucky recipient for this months Card chain challenge organised by the wonder Deborah..  Here is the wonderful card I got from Sue as well as some very special goodies from her stash.  Talk about getting lucky!!!!

I can wait to get stuck into using some of these goodies.
Next parcel was my order from Stampin; Up!  They had a special on and if you spend over so much you got a free set of stamps.... so I got 2 sets of sentiments and got the third set free.... plus some dimensionals ( just love the size of these ones) and some Dazzling Diamond  glitter.  So know I must have a sentiment for every occasion....

And to top it all off on Sunday 7th my niece in Australia had a little girl.... Chelsea Jade.  She has twin brothers who are three - so now Vicky and Nick have a lovely little family of three!!!  Here is the card I made for them.  Used some Dazzling Diamond glitter on the wings of the fairy princess.  I used Swiss Dots CB folder and Label 8 nestibilites to make the base card.  All lovely and pink for a little girl.

thanks for stopping by .  Hope everyone is having a great start to the week.

Hooray! New Stamps

Inked up my new stamps yesterday... in particular used the stripe one to make a pile of plaid/gingham backgrounds. I used slightly lighter weight card stock. This one is Dusty Concord and Faded Jeans distress inks. The little girl is from the HA cling "Happy Girls" -such a cute set.  I coloured her in with Copics but as I don't have enough in the same families, my shading isn't great. - messed up the hair and the face... but oh well...practice makes perfect.... I was pleased though with using the Copics to change the colour of the flower and heart gems.  That worked well!!!  Once again my scalloped background is cut from a paint sample/chip.  I need to visit Bunnings again to get some more!!!!  The Berger paint chips are the perfect size being 4 x 4 inches square.  Just love getting all the different colours - and for free!!!

While blog hopping I came across this wonderful card by Deirdre.  I have a friend due to have a boy any day now so I CASED the card and come up with this:

I choose browns instead of blues to make this card.  It is a bit smaller than a normal card being  4 x 4 1/4 inches.  I coloured the image in with Dye inks by stamping the ink onto a piece of acrylic and then using a water brush to pick up the colour.  I used the computer to generate the sentiment.  The ribbon was from the lovely Linda (aka Oz) - it is just beautiful - a really nice satin ribbon.  So thanks to Linda and Deirdre...

Still more new stamps to play with yet.... I'll want to make some cards to send for Jennifer McGuire's Cards for Kids.  Please visit her blog here that tells you all about it... She really needs more for the boys.... so might get the lion and his mate the tiger out and let them loose....
Take care and thanks for stopping by.

Saturday stamping.

Yesterday was stamping group at Stamp'n'create.  I did quite a few cards.  I re-did the tie card and the gramophone card I made last week as I like them so much.  I also did a beautiful bird card inspired by one I saw in Australian Cardmaking, Stamping and Papercraft magazine.  I pretty much followed the instructions but used slightly more muted colours then the original.  I also had to adapt my branch as I did not have the right stamp.  I changed the flowers as well, cutting out small stamped flowers.  I was really pleased with the results of this one.  I also managed to do a couple of baby cards - very simple ones using patterned papers and some old stamps ( ultra cheep and nasty but did the trick)  We did a make and take as well, which was the Christmas card with the vellum overlay. I cut out the middle of the overlay and stamped my image in the middle.  I also made a box from a set I bought after Jill's demo.  So you can see it was a very productive day.

Hubby has now done his dash with trips down south... he left at 4.00am Friday morning to go to Levin for the last time and clear up the last of his mother's things.  Her flat has now sold and change of ownership is next weekend.  He has now cleaned everything up, got rid of most of the furniture to St Vincent De Pauls for charity, and bought some stuff home.  He took the trailer down with him.  Got back late last night.... tired but glad it is now all over.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope everyone has a great week.

New Baby

Just a quick card tonight. Got it done while I was cooking tea so I could get the photo taken while it was still light. It's getting darker earlier as autumn is approaching. Daylight savings finishes this weekend so it will soon be even darker earlier.

Anyway this card is for Judith who became a grandma to Caleb this week.Used HA B1918 shadow stamp IV in sky blue ink and overstamped with black - some farm animal stamps I got free with a magazine. I printed the sentiment on the computer - (went a bit crooked) . Finished it off with some blue and white ribbon I got today from The Warehouse. I've put it in the HA Flickr group as a "onelayer" entry.

Spend the rest of the evening cataloguing my new stamps. I have a folder where I stamp them onto card in categories so I know what I have. - or at least that's the theory. All up to date now.
