Happy Birthday to my boy!

Today my baby boy is 36!  Where the heck has the time flown.   I can not believe I have a 36yr old - who is the father of two delightful little girls!

He is also a connoisseur of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey - and that gave me my idea for his card.

I search the internet for some images of Jack Daniels and printed this one out.  I due cut with a Spellbinders circle die and cut a scallop circle.   I took some light grey card and used Altenew 3D Masonry folder to add texture.  I search the dafont site and found one called "Bourbon Whiskey"  - it's a free font, so downloaded and typed the sentiments and die cut with Altenew dies.   He loved the card.

Took some of my Christmas cards to work today and managed to sell around 17 of them.   I had gone overboard this year due to taking a few Christmas card classes online.   So now, just to start addressing the one's left and get ready to post in the next few weeks.

The prize is a $20 gift certificate!

My card to day uses a lovely set, but as I have had it awhile, it now unfortunately now unavailable. But there a lots of lovely set available to you

Isn't this little penguin so cute... I printed him out and used my Scan'n'Cut to cut him out. I got the sweet Pennant Frame die in a mystery box from Uniquely Creative (an Australian company) and used some copper coloured card to die cut the largest frame. I also cut it two more times from white card to layer together. I had the sparkly patterned paper in my stash and as it look very party like I trimmed a piece to fit behind the frame. I used a punch to cut out the sentiment (also from the Sugartree set) I added the frame to a card base and then used my ruler and craft knife to trim it into a Pennant as well.

My crafty friend, here in NZ, Janet's has her birthday today, so this was sent to her.

Do come and join us at Die Cut Divas this month... It's an Anything Goes challenge

Cards for Boys...

I have two boy cards to share today.

First up is a card I made for my grandson, Archie.  I like to send him cards every now and then.  This one was inspired by one of the cards in the May Making Cards magazine.  There were papers and images that came with the magazine.

I used the papers and images to layer on the card and the front.  I generated the sentiment on the computer.

My second card was a commissioned card for a 2 year old who loves diggers.

I found the image on the internet and printed it twice... I fussy cut the second image and added it with pop dots over the main image.  I added some glossy accents to parts of the digger.  Loved how I kept it CAS.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I appreciated everyone's visits.

Boys are the Bomb at Southern Girls Challenge.

It time for another challenge at Southern Girls.  Our theme this month is "Boys are the Bomb"

DT Badge

For my card I have used an image from Mo Manning's Skateboard Schoolboy

I printed out the image, and once I coloured I fussy cut it out.  I made the background by embossing some blue/grey card with a Tim Holtz brick folder.   I then wiped over the embossing with some white acrylic white paint. I added it to a pearlised grey base card.   The sentiment is from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Entering into Virginia's Show and Share with this one.

Christmas Kickstart - Frosty and Friends

Jo's latest theme over at Christmas Kickstart is "Frosty and Friends" -all about Snowmen

I had popped over to Digi Doodle Studio the other day to purchase an Easter digi I had seen and while I was there picked up "Joe Frost Snowman" with this challenge in mind....

I printed him onto some light cream card and used some Copics, Spectrum Noir and Altenew alcohol markers to colour him in.  I used Altenew Arctic ink to sponge behind him.  (just love my smallest makeup blending brush for getting around close to the image)  For my snow I smeared some clear Nuvo drops and sprinkled some SU Diamond Dust glitter on it   A few dots with a Gel pen and a Hero Arts sentiment and my panel was done.  I trimmed it, and then matted with some pretty Patterned paper from Meg's Garden, adding it to a cream card base (4 3/4" x 6" - just a little bigger than normal - trimmed down a 6x6 card base)

Thanks to Jo and her challenge, my stash of Christmas cards is growing.

It's Saturday afternoon and all the house work is done, so time for some more crafting .... there are 5 family and friend's birthdays in May.... so busy time ahead.

Thanks for stopping by.

WWC216 Dawn's "All About Occasions" Challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  I'm the hostess this week with an "All about Occasions" challenge.

For me April is the birthday month for my Grandson.  He's going to be 3 this year on 20th April...and if my new grandbaby comes on time, she'll be an April baby too... due 29th.

Anyway as I have to get Archie's card off in plenty of time to get to him in time... I've made his card and am sharing it today.

There's a little story behind this card.  For his birthday his Pop and I are getting him a Trunki (a cute as little suitcase) and his mum showed him the different ones and he chose this one

So I decided that a bumble bee card would be cool.  I searched the internet to find a bumble bee digi stamp and found this cutie at Dollar Graphic Depot.   I printed it out together with the 3 and the sentiment.  I used my Scan'n'Cut to cut out the number and the little bee.  To make my background I used a Hexagon Cover Die (not sure of the make) to make a stencil.  I used two Altenew inks - Vanilla Cream and Lemon Fresh with my Picket Fence brushes to blend through the handmade stencil.  I added dimension to the bee, the number and the sentiment.

A simple but fun card.  Come join in the fun and make a card for your choice of occasion. Check out the projects that the other artists at Watercooler Wednesday Challenges have created, then take the challenge and link your creation to the challenge post. We’d love to have you join us.   You have until Mondays at 5 p.m. Mountain Standard Time (Tuesdays at 1pm NZ time) to link up your project.

Thanks for stopping by today.

WWC#214 Marsha's "All About Occasions" challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  Marsha is our hostess this week with an " All About Occasions" Challenge.

I wanted an Easter card to send to my little Grandson.  I chose a digital image by "From The Heart" called Easter Trio that I have had for a number of year. ( Sadly, this company no longer exists)

I printed the image and the matching sentiment onto my white card and used a rectangle die to cut it out.  I used my Prismacolour pencils to colour it in.  I then added to a creamy base for a quick CAS card.   A few spots of Spectrum Noir sparkle pen was all the embellishment it needed.

Come join in the fun.  Check out the projects that the artists at Watercooler Wednesday Challenges have created then take the challenge and link your creation to the challenge post. We’d love to have you join us.  You have until Mondays at 5 p.m. Mountain Standard Time (Tuesdays at 1pm NZ time) to link up your project.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Spots and Dots at Southern Girls Challenge.

It's my team's turn to showcase our designs at Southern Girls Challengee today.  Our theme is Spots and Dots and we have two lovely sponsors this time

I used a gorgeous image from The Paper Shelter called Hammock Days.  It comes with a background you can print as well as a fully coloured image and JPEG and PNG files.  I took the precoloured background and using Word in Microsoft Office suite, added it to my base card.  I then used the PNG uncoloured image on top .

I used Copic markers to colour up the hammock image.  I added white gel pen dots to the leaves, flowers, the headband and top of the girl, and added white dots to the blanket as well as black dots to the white flowers.  I had little bits of Copic colouring to the leaves and flowers to give some more dimension.

Do come join us at Southern Girls Challenge for our latest challenge... Spots and Dots.

So right into it... here is my card

I have used Ruby Boho  for my focal image.  She has been coloured with Prismacolor pencils.  All my papers are from Winnie Celebrations 3.  The sentiment comes from Winnie Special moments Quotes.  The die cut doily is a Catherine Pooler Design and has been embossed with a script folder.
My purple flowers are hand made by me from Foamrin and a freebie flower die from a Magazine.  I added a die cut flourish

I'm entering this into the following challenges.
Color Inspiration Monthly
Color Crazy - Anything Goes
Creative Knockouts - favourtie embellishment (my foamarin flowers)

And here's a little bonus card I made with this gorgeous image.
This one came about as I initially printed out the image a little too large for my card base.  So I made this little scrapling.

January CCC Reveal.

I totally enjoy taking part in the monthly Card Chain Challenge (CCC) - I get to send a card to someone and then receive one as well.  Win-Win if you ask me.

So January, I got to send a card to Jutta in Canada.  I chose to use the Theme - Unicorns

I used some PP that already had the unicorn printed on it.  I stamped and embossed the sentiment from a Catherine Pooler set and added some sequins, and Sparkle pen and called my card Done!

I've been doing some more colouring and have now finished the January Kit and Clowder class image - apart from some highlighting around the image.

Reasonably happy with the results.  Not sure I got the horse shadows quite right... but will try again at a later stage.

Take care and thanks for stopping by.

CAS Thanks

It's my turn to post at Die Cut Divas.  Our theme is "Thanks"

A2Z scrapbooking are the main retailer of Hero Arts Digital kits and today I have used two different ones to make my card.

I do my digital editing in Microsoft Word.  It gives me lots of options when using the images - such as adding shadows (as I did with my Thanks sentiment) and to change the colour and size of my images (as I did with the flowers).

I used the following digi sets
Say it in Pieces
Petty Blossoms Printable

I snipped one of the blossoms and pasted it onto my page.  Then resized, recoloured and printed it onto some Canson Bristol card.  I used a Lil'Inkers die to cut it out.  I used Zig markers and my Spectrum Noir sparkle pen to colour (lots of sparkle in real life) .  A few Nuvo drops in Rhubarb Crumble and it done.

You still have a few days to join our challenge over at Die Cut Divas.

Spots and Dots at Southern Girls Challenge

Hi.  Back to share my card for the latest challenge at Southern Girls Challenge.

It's Spots and Dots this time with wonderful sponsor's Lacy Sunshine and Krafter's Cart.

I got to use the super sweet Lizabeth's Daffodil today.

I cut out my oval and then embossed the panel with a spots and dots folder.  I backed the oval with some Teresa Collins patterned paper that is gold dots.  Lizabeth is coloured with Copics.   I die cut the hello (Winnie and Walter die)  5 times and layered together for dimension.  A few white dots on the daffodil centre, a ribbon and some flowers and it's all done.

An Eventful Friday....

I was back for three days before we headed off for a long weekend down south at Napier.   It is an hours flight south east of Auckland.   Well it should have been!

We got to Auckland airport for a 2.55pm flight only to find it had been delayed firstly for 40 minutes and then another 20 minutes.  Got onto the plane and took off.... only to find about 20 minutes into the flight, the pilot announced there was a warning light showing an issue with the hydraulics and we were returning to Auckland.   So we turned around in a wide sweep as there were no flaps.  The pilot advised us that he would be landing at speed.  However when we got near Auckland, the pilot then advised that there were cross winds at Auckland which were making it dangerous to  land and we would be diverting to Hamilton...  so off we went....  And after a little while and a speedy decent we made it to Hamilton.  From there we hired a car and drove 3 hours 20 minutes to reach our friend's house at 9.30pm.    What a day!   And we made the news

http://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2017/09/emergency-landing-at-hamilton-airport.html

Didn't realise how bad it was, the staff were very calm and collected.   The pilot landed the plane very smoothly and we all applauded him.

The rest of the weekend was fabulous.  We had gone down with friends and we all stayed with Rachel and Ian.   Rachel is celebrating her 60th birthday next week so we spend some time celebrating with her.   Rachel is a quilter and earlier this year gave us a beautiful quilt.  I took a photo of some of it, and made her a card

I used the computer to make the sentiment which I cut with a Littl' inkers die.  The cotton reel is a digital image from Hero Arts.

Well back to work tomorrow.   And catch up with some of my design work.

Flutterbies Card in a Box - Hero Art

Hi all.  It's Anything Goes this month at our challenge at A2Z Scrapbooking.  So I'm here to show you a card in a box I made using the Digital kit called Flutterbies Printable PT006.  A2Z are the sole supplier of Hero Arts Digital kits and stamps.  I really like the way I can choose the size I print my images at.

I started by sizing my digital stamp in a Word document and then copying the size so I had 6 images.  I used some Canson XL water colour paper and printed out my sheet.  I then used some watercolour paint to make lots of colourful butterflies.   I also printed one at slightly butterfly as well and water coloured.   I fussy cut all the butterflies and made my card in a box.   I used some patterned paper by Craftworks which looks like watercolour.  I added a little bit of trellis die on my back panel and added the larger butterfly.   For my front sentiment I used another Hero Art Digital kit - Say it in Pieces.  I took two of the sentiments - made a circle in Word and coloured it green and added the sentiments.  Added a teeny punched butterfly.  My green leaves are a Hero Arts Fancy Die Spring Fling (Discontinued)

Please join us in this months "Anything Goes" challenge for your chance at a $25 gift card to the a2z store.
