Farewell to Southern Girls Challenge

It's a sad day - after nearly 10 years the creators of Southern Girls Challenge, Lou and Tracy, have decided it's time to say goodbye.... today is the final post for the challenge.  Some of the past and present designers are sharing projects.  I have done two stints with the group... the last one for the past year or so.

Today I am sharing a little gift box I made.  I follow a UK Stampin' Up demonstrator called Sam (Pottles.co.uk)  She makes lots of different boxes.  This one uses an 8"x 8" piece of card for the base and a 6" x 6" piece for the top.  I used kraft for the base and some PP for the top.

I recently got Heartfelt Creations Wild Rose small stamp, die and mold set plus the Classic Rose stamp and dies.   I stamped, die cut, inked and shaped the individual flowers before putting them together.

So it's Adieu from Southern Girls. Come and check out the wonder projects from past and present DT members HERE

Twofer at Southern Girls Challenge

Hi there, it's time for another challenge at Southern Girls Challenge...

Our theme is Anything Goes.... and we have two sponsors

KC

I chose to use some Altenew products available from Krafters Cart.  Meetu who owns Krafters Cart has a large array of products and I love using a NZ based shop to get my supplies.

My cards today uses Fabulous Florets, that I got from Krafters Cart, which arrived just after lock-down. I love this set as it has two different sized flowers.   And yes I have two cards to share with you.  Earlier this month, one of Jennifer McGuire's blog post was about Split Card Tricks which is a technique where you do stamping down the middle of a half sheet of card and then cut in into two pieces to make cards.

I used the smaller of the two flowers on the stamp set.  I stamped the flowers and masked them to add the leaves.  I wanted to do some pale flowers so used grey tones to colour the flowers.

For my first card I added some thin black washi down the left hand side.  I added some splatters with the darkest grey ink (Pure Graphite)  The sentiment is from Sentiment Strips 2 (also purchased from Kraters Cart) and is white embossed on black card.  A few silver sequins finished the card.

My second card is more CAS - I simply added a sentiment from Hello Gorgeous stamp set and a few black gems.   I mounted the panel onto black card and then added to a white base.

So from one stamping of three flowers down the centre of the of an A5 panel I got two cards.  I just added an extra flower on each panel to balance the design.

Hi there.  Time for Team Trace to share with you at Southern Girls Challenge   As usual it's an Anything Goes challenge.  Our sponsors are:

I got to work with a super cute image from Lia Stampz called "Pregnant Girl"

Once I had printed the image I used a Cottage Cutz stitched oval die to cut it out.  I kept it CAS - then added some pretty patterned paper to the dark rose card base.  I stamped the Simon Says Stamp sentiment onto white card and trimmed it, layering onto some more of the rose card.

Anything Goes at Southern Girls Challenge.

Hi there - It's time for another Challenge at Southern Girls - Anything Goes.  This fortnight our sponsors are

My card today uses some Altenew products that are available at Auzz Trinklets N Crafts.

This stamp set is called Watercolor Halftone and I have stamped it in grey inks.  The base card is actually dark grey (it looks almost navy in my photo)  The sentiment stripe is also from Altenew.
I don't like to have to make these sorts of cards and this one is even harder.  A blogger friend recently lost her teenage son... very sad.   My heartfelt sympathy goes to her and her family.

Out and About at Southern Girls challenge.

See my Watercooler Wednesday post HERE
******************************************************************************

It's Team Trace's turn to inspire you at Southern Girls Challenge this week.

Our theme this week is Out and About.    I've chosen Out and About in my garden.

While I was a SENZ a couple of months ago, I visited the Three Buttons Studio booth and purchased some Cocoa Vanilla Studio die cut Ephemera.  There were lots of lovely bits and pieces.  I used the watercolour bouquet and some extra leaves.  My background was one of my Gelli plate prints from a couple of months ago.  This one was the second pull from an inked gelli plate.  Love the ghostly look.  I added a sentiment from a CAS-ual Fridays set called Casual Elegance.  As my gelli plate was a 3" x 5" one, I made my card 3 3/4" x 5 7/8 inches.    The ephemera die cuts make the card making process so quick.

Autumn/Fall at Southern Girls.

Hi there.  Back again for my Southern Girls challenge.  It's coming into Autumn/Fall here in NZ and that's our theme this time around.    Our sponsors are

I'm using an image from Lacy Sunshine called "Bubbles Autumn,

I printed out the image after using Word to resize and add a frame around it.  I used my Prismacolour pencils to add colour.  I made my own background paper by using a Catherine Pooler stencil (Marching Leaves)  over a pale green card.  I used Rocky Shore and Olive inks from Altenew.  I cut a heart doily in half to put behind the focal image.  I then stamped and clear embossed the Autumn sentiment from "The Big Bold Seasons" from Winnie & Walter onto some vellum and fussy cut around it.

Frame it at Southern Girls.

There's a new challenge at Southern Girls Challenge Blog today. It's not my team's turn to share this week but I'm guesting for Team Lou this week.  Our sponsors this time round are Dark Room Door and Altenew...  Two fabulous companies.

My card today is using a cool sentiment from Darkroom Door - called "Playing"

I've paired it with a cool stamp from Art Impressions called "Got Style"  I've frame the card by layering it onto gray card, white card and then onto a brown base card.    Isn't that sentiment just a perfect compliment to the stamped image.

And as the team is a bit short this week, I also did a card using a Watercolour Frame from Altenew.

I also used a freebie Altenew rose stamp and die set.

Girly card for Southern Girls Challenge

Welcome to my Southern Girls Challenge post.    Team Trace theme today is Girl Power

Our sponsor are:

My card is a Girly card in that it is a feminine shabby chic card.

I used the Altenew flower dies from Krafters Cart die cut from white card and I used Altenew watecolours to paint them.  My PP is from my stash (not sure of who it's from).  I distressed the edges with Distress ink and my scissors.  The die cut frame and sentiments are by Couture Creations.  I managed to find them on sale for $3.98 the other day when I went to meet up with some of my team mates from Southern Girls.

I'm entering this the challenge at The Flower Challenge

Here's a picture of Louise, Karen, Wendy and me when we meet for dinner.  I had never met up with any of them before, but it was like we were old friends... we just talked and talked....
