I've been holed up in my craft room this afternoon... horrible wet and cold weather outside so the best place to be. I've been catching up with some design work and checking out some challenges. I saw the one over at City Crafter Challenge blog is Black and White. I needed a get well card and knew what I wanted to do.
I used the umbrella girl from Stampin' Up - Beautiful You set. I added a stripe of black and white dotty paper and a bead of silver glitter glue down one side and onto the umbrella.
Just getting dinner started shortly and then it's a BIG rugby game... The All Blacks versus the British and Irish Lions. It's the third game in the series.... one a piece at the moment...so it's tense! Go the All Blacks.

Vintage Elegance
I recently got a RAK gift from Anita (Crafty Girl Designs). It was this gorgeous Hero Arts background stamp called Flower Medley Background. It's one I'd not seen before.
I wanted to try something a bit vintage looking. This reminded me of Vintage wallpaper. I stamped with Delicata Golden Glitz ink and clear embossed it onto cream card. I trimmed it to fit in the centre of a Hero Arts Latte card base. I did some edging with the ink. The sentiment was stamped with the Golden ink as well and trimmed with a Fiskars edge punch. I added a little gold ribbon and bow.
I have entered this into the Pride and Prejudice challenge at City Crafters Challenge
Hope you are all set for a crafty weekend. I managed to make a number of mini Thank you cards this afternoon.... and enjoyed a quick trip to the stamp shop ~ they had advertised a good special for an Envelope maker but of course by the time I got there they were sold out :=( Never mind, I've added my name to the next order. I've been struggling to find small envelopes for my mini cards and was looking forward to making some. I did pick up one little Couture Creations stamp set.
Well the second half of the All Blacks versus France rugby test has started - we are leading 17 to 10.

Purple Haze....
Yesterday over at Virginia's blog, I saw a beautiful Ombre effect card Virginia made.... It got me thinking.... and I pulled out some new stamps and my purple distress inks. And here's what came about
I clear embossed the Leafy Vine then used 4 distress inks to do a resist technique, inking from light to dark down the card. I had the purple lace sitting on my desk and it was just what I needed. I stamped the sentiment in Archival ink. I'll add a Happy Birthday inside.
This card is being entered into a couple of challenges
City Crafters Challenge. ~ Inspired by a song - "Purple Haze" by Jimi Hendricks
and Hero Arts monthly challenge ~ Spring
We are off to the beach this weekend... delivering a claw foot bath for our friends. They will be setting it up in the yard to have an outdoor bath area. They intend to have some gas heating so they can have a nice hot bath outdoors.
I have a great post set up over at Die Cut Divas for tomorrow (USA PST) ~ we have an awesome guest designer!!!! Do pop over and have a look. Here's a little sneak peek of one of the cards our guest has designed.

In the Garden
Over at Penny Black Saturday Challenge last week, the challenge is was "In the Garden" I love my Penny Black stamps especially my Critter stamps. I had fun with a little Hedgie lying in a bed of flowers.
Don't you just love the bright flowery PP I used for the background. It is from a magazine so is really shiny and bright. I took the sketch from City Crafter's Challenge Blog, turned it on it's side. As I like to do, I coloured my Hedgie with Distress inks and an aqua brush. The flowers are more yellow in real life, not so washed out as the photo shows. The sentiment is also from the same PB set. My little piece of grid at bottom is washi tape. Love how transparent this tape is.
And here's a peek into my garden over the weekend...
The autumn flowers are looking really good and the Hydrangeas are just keeping on going and going. But do excuse the lawn.... it's in the process of being re-seeded and over-sown.
That's me for the night... It's getting late and I am quite tired... but a bit of a sleep in tomorrow as I have a visit to the skin specialist at 9.00am tomorrow for my annual skin checkup.... and then to work. Usually in the office by 7.30am so it will be nice to stay tucked up in bed for a little longer!

Wine Labels
The super talented and very generous Jacqueline has been dishing out some of the wine labels her son acquired. ( See her post here) I was lucky to get some in my mail this past week. They are stunningly beautiful on their own but to see what Jacqueline has produced is wonderful, as well as the many friends she sent them to. Today I should be working on a presentation for a job interview I am doing tomorrow.... but the call of the labels, my stamps and ink was too much....
Over at City Crafter Challenge blog this week, it's all about Neutrals. I knew that I wanted to use a label with this challenge.
I used a soft cream base, made my own pp by stamping the Hero Arts Etched Flower in Tea Dye distress over some cream copy paper. I then added the flowers to the label and Old French writing as well. I then made my rose with Spellbinders Rose creation dies. Spritzed the rose with Sheer Shimmer Spritz. Love the result I got. I added some cream lace. Used pop dots to add some dimension on the label which was matted with the cream card.
I'm now off to get something organised for tomorrow. I am very nervous... the job is in Design. All about thinking outside the square. Not sure if it will be my thing... then on Thursday, I'm interviewing for the Design Lead position... I hedged my bets and applied for both positions, quite surprised to get an interview for both! And there's another job doing what I used to, advertised this week. I will apply there too...
Hope you weekend is going well... and your week does too. Think of me. Your thoughts will be appreciated.

The Perfect Pair.....
that's this week's challenge over at City Crafter Challenge Blog. It's a bit of a colour challenge....with a twist.
you have to make 2 cards, one of each of the above colors as your main color, however, you are allow to pick up other colors from the inspiration photo, e.g. a bit of cream, or white, or green etc. Remember! The main color of your card has to be the above 2 colors!
When I had made my little purple card yesterday for Barb's scramble, I realised it was one of the pair of colours, so last night I made the twin card in Blue
The card shape is a Spellbinders Labels 22 and the flower is made with the Carnation Creations
Here are the two together
Also entered into "Less is More" Punches or Die Cuts.
Been another perfect summer's day... pity I had to work, but I did come home early and go for a lovely 1/2 hr walk down to the beach, along a pipeline between two beaches and then up the road to home. Now just getting ready to dish up the dinner.... mushroom and Camembert stuffed chicken, wrapped in bacon with broccoli, carrots and beans. Yum
Take care ~ do pop back a bit later as MyGrafico challenge is almost ready to be posted....
