CAS 2~ Day Two

Day 2 was all about one layer cards ~ so that meant some masking techniques.  I tried a few  different things to make a mask.

Tried some Tim Holtz masking sheet... but it was a bit thick for stamping.  Great for the the sponging so this is attempt #2 using computer paper. I used some wide post-it tape to make the masks for the butterflies.  I added some faux stitching to emphasis the heart.    I coloured my butterflies with Copics and added some Sukura glitter pen on the butterflies.  Again, I couldn't resist some gems.   All the stamps are from Hero Arts.

I'm also entering this into the Heart Challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters  and Anything Goes at Simon Says Stamping.

CAS 2 ~ Day One

I enjoyed last January's CAS card on-line card class so decided to do CAS 2.  Due to the time the posts come and having to work full time, I'm always nearly a day behind.  I managed however, last night to get a Day 1 card made.   I used Kristina's sketch and adapted her card to fit my stamps.

I took a panel of white card and used a Dylusions stencil, Wet Cement ink and sea sponge I sponged and pounced the ink.   I punched the circle and edged the entire panel with the ink.  I used a Hero Arts sentiment inside the circle.  As my coloured sentiment suited being at the top of the circle, that's where it went.   I know it is a CAS card, but I felt it needed just a touch of colour... hence the little flowers and dots of Liquid Pearls.

I am pleased with the results.  And day 2's post was fabulous.   I will try and get a card made later this evening... I will get a bit behind as I'm off to the beach again this weekend.... this time we are taking a few extra days... not coming home till Wednesday, which is a public holiday for us... two short weeks in a row.  6th of February is Waitangi Day, when we commemorate the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi .  I won't have much access to a computer... only my i-phone.  I will be scheduling a post or two so you won't miss me!!!   I'll be catching up with the classes next week.

Clean and Simple Card Making Classes.

I joined up with the CAS card making classes over at Online Card Classes.   I'm a bit behind as I didn't join up till Day 3.  So far I've managed a couple of cards from Day 1.  It was about using sketches.

My first card used this sketch and one of the ideas from the the class.   However in the end, I changed it around.  

My original idea was to use the die cut  "Thank you" and add to a coloured background piece.   However I changed my mind.  I took the negative cut and added the colour underneath the cut out.  The coloured background was made with makers and the acetate smooch technique.  I cut a flower out from some of the paper.  I really needed a bigger sentiment, but didn't have anything suitable.  I liked that we were taught that CAS doesn't have to be about white space but about "negative" space and you can use coloured base.  My pale green card is from Stampin' Up pastel cardstock.

My second card used this sketch

Now as you'll notice my card doesn't quite follow the sketch.   That's because when I put the flowers on, I didn't check the orientation correctly and found they were up the wrong way.  So I just went with it.... The background is a Hero Arts cling stamp called Leaf and Floral background.  I stamped in with Soft Apricot shadow ink after masking the centre off.  I coloured some card stock with the ink to cut the flowers out.   I'm enjoying this class and learning a lot.  There is tons of inspiration from the teachers as well as the gallery of the participants.   

Got my son moved to his new flat... it's a cute little cottage out in West Auckland... in a semi rural area.  Looking off the deck, all you see is paddocks with sheep.  But it's only 5 mins from the motorway and about 10 mins from a big shopping area.   It's about 22 kilometres from our house, so not too far. 

Well, I've been watching "Pretty Woman" as I've been typing this... Haven't seen this movie in years, but am enjoying it immensely.
