CAS(E) this Sketch # 253 and Altenew Inspiration Jan 2018

I have finally set up my new ScanNCut machine... and am starting to play.

Today I saw a sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch that looked so nice and easy to do.

Just love the simplicity of the sketch.  Right up my alley for sure.   I decided I wanted to do a sort of wallpaper look to the top portion.   So out came some Altenew flowers (Amazing You set) and some masking tape....

I also stamped one flower and two leaves onto some card and coloured in with Prismacolor pencils.  My new machine got a try out, cutting them out.  Made the border a tad too large, but that was okay.  All in all - awesome! I popped the cut out flower and leaves on some mounting tape.   I really like how this turned out.

The colours are taken from the Altenew Inspiration for Jan 2018

As this is an encouragement card I am also adding it to the challenge at CASology - cue word Encouragement

And also the "Something New" Challenge at Simon Says Stamp.  - using my new ScanNCut is my something new!

Off to try some more stamping, colouring and cutting...

CAS(E) this sketch..#59.

On Saturday I received a beautiful card from Donna in Hawaii and inside was a lovely little packet of die cut feathers in some stunning colours, some dyed, some Patterned paper... and as soon as I saw them, I knew I wanted to use them for the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge.  I finally got around to doing a card today after I got back from my walk... Love CAS cards as they really come together so quickly.

This is a mini card... 3.25" x 4.25".  The centre panel is a die cut from Poppy Stamps that is 3" x 4".  I added the gorgeous feathers with a pop dot.  Added a button with a little bit of pink ribbon.  As you can see I stuck to the sketch fairly closely.  I finished with some splotches of Picked Raspberry distress ink, watered down and flickered off my paint brush.  The sentiment is from an older Hero Arts set.  This has also been entered into the CASology challenge ~ Dots

Edited: Thanks to Cornelia I have entered into the challenge over at STAMPlorations Blog

I've been doing some mixed media pieces but they just take SOOOO long to do...waiting, waiting, waiting for gesso, paint and paste to dry.  Still the end result is lovely.  Just trying to decide how to and what to put on a card.  Also started an 8" x 8" canvas.

CAS(e) This Sketch #40

I like to join this challenge when I can..  Last week I made a card at my Saturday group for challenge #39 but between Lei's place and home I misplaced it, so this week I got onto it quicker...

I did a quite literal take on the sketch for my card.

CAS(e) this sketch #40

I started by smooching Distress inks onto a narrow acrylic block and spritzing with water and stamping onto my card.  I then used a Hero Arts silhouette stamp in black ink and added a Hero Arts sentiment.  Then I used my scoreboard to make the frame around it.

Feeling much better today, but only did a 3/4 day, leaving early which gave me the time to have a little play this afternoon.  Got this card made and one other.

Dare to Dream

I really liked the sketch over at CAS(E) this Sketch this week

Dare to Dream

I was playing around with some Gelatos.  I drew straight onto the stamp and spritzed with water and stamped onto the card that I had masked on an angle.    I used a technique I learnt on His & Hers Online class to make my line.  I masked a thin space and used Memento Peanut Brittle ink along it.   The butterflies were punched from watercolour paper that I had used Gelatos on and overstamped with an Inkadinkado flourish using Golden Glitz Delicata ink.   The sentiment is from Couture Creations.    I wanted to added some sequins but as soon as I saw the stars in my jar of mixed sequins I knew I wanted to use them.

I've also added this to the CAS challenge over at A blog named Hero

Today was one of the coldest we've had in Auckland for quite some time.   Several big storm fronts came through.
this was taken out the window from my office at around 9.00am this morning.  You couldn't see the city ~ it moved really fast and within minutes, thunder, lightening and heavy rain.    Parts of the South Island had the first heavy snow fall of the year.

This photo was taken by a friend in Dunedin.  The city doesn't often get snow, but today was very snowy.
