A CAS card

Yesterday over at Die Cut Divas blog I shared a CAS birthday card.   And I'm sharing it here today

I wanted something very clean and graphic for a family member who is having a birthday soon.   I took some dark wine and green card and the Simon Says Fresh Daisies die and cut out two of the flowers.  I just trimmed the flowers off the wine one and added to the green one.  Added to a white card, matted with the wine card and then added to the white base.   The sentiment is from Hero Arts.  Finished with some gems.  Just love how this turned out.  I've entered it into the challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays

I'm not a Senior Citizen.....

Here in New Zealand when you turn 65 you are eligible to receive national Superannuation and are classed as a Senior Citizen.  One of the leaders at work is turning 65 shortly and I was asked to make her a card..... She is always saying she is NOT going to be a Senior Citizen... but stay young and frivolous!!!!!!!!!  ( me too when I make this age in 10 years)

So I decided to do a humorous card ... and where better to find the perfect image... than Bugaboo Digital stamps.    I never fail to find something just perfect there... and this was no exception...

I changed the sentiment to suit what Barbs always says!

I used Copics to colour the image and some pretty Summer PP's.  The design is loosely based on a sketch from My Favorite Things.   

Entering this into Simon Says Stamp ~ anything goes Challenge.

Tonight Daylight Saving Time starts in NZ... springing forward one hour!  This really is the sign that summer is on its way.  Hubby put up the umbrella on the deck and we went out an bought tomato plants, lettuce plants, cucumber plants and pea seeds.  So tomorrow will be out in the garden planting!    Today the temperate was up to 20 degrees ( 68 F) so it's warming up.

Mygrafico Monday Feature ~ Fall into Fall

Here I am back with another Monday Feature for Mygrafico.  Still continuing in our theme of Fall cards.... the team got to work with a fabulous set from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff....

Not only does it have these fabulous images in JPG and PNG formats but it also has SVG cutting files for use with SCAL, MTC or other cutting software that supports SVG files and die cut machines that support SVG files.  How cool is that!  I don't have an electronic cutting machine, so I worked with the images and cut them out by hand.

I used a Hero Arts stamp ~ Square Pattern Background ~ and Kaleidacolor ink in "Autumn" and trimmed a piece for my centre panel.  I printed out the pumpkins and fussy cut.  I highlighted the shadows on the pumpkins with a glitter pen.  I added some curls of wire to the stems.   The sentiment is from a Simon Says stamp set.   I finished with some faux stitching around my card.

I've had a great evening organising my distress inks and labelling them.   Do you know, I'm only missing one colour of distress ink... I didn't even realise I had that many!!!!!!

Jar of Hearts

I've just got a few minutes before we head round to friends for dinner... I have just been visiting Paula's blog ( here) where she share a card she made with a stamp I gave her... and I realised I hadn't shared the card I made with the gorgeous Mason Jar stamp she gave me!  This card was entered into a couple of challenges.....

firstly Moxie Fab World's "Jar of Joy" challenge and Simon Says Stamping "Trendy challenge"

I stamped the jar and added the tiny fussy cut hearts stamped onto the same colour card as I used to make the chevrons ( die cut with a Hero Arts Framelit set)   It's hard to see, but I added 3 lines of embossing along the top to balance out the card.

Looking forward to my day at a Stampin' Up workshop tomorrow.  I've never done one so thought I'd try it out.  I have a few of their stamps ~ not many as I find they are quite expensive.

Wild and Windy Weather..........

that's what we have today..... there are Gale warnings in the Haukai Gulf and the harbour here in Auckland... and even at our house which usually is a bit sheltered.  So I closeted myself in my craft room for most of the afternoon....and then Hubby (who had been out in the late afternoon) came home with Fish and Chips for dinner.... so no cooking required!

Over the past few days, I have been very creative.... since Wednesday I have made 7 cards.... I'm am quite ahead with my DT work, both for Red Carpet Studio and Mygrafico so it will be a few weeks before I can share these cards.  I received my Simon Says prize pack this week.... a few new stamps, a die or two, so it was time to try them out.

I picked up this cute little Snoopy stamp for a very reasonable price.  I combined with some free papers from Mygrafico ( available here) and computer generated the sentiment with this font from Dafont.com  I used pencils to colour Snoopy in and cut with Spellbinders.

My next card uses some stamps I got with a Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine.  I used one of the designs in the magazine as my starting point to make the card.

I used some heavy watercolour paper and cut out a circle which I trimmed.  I stamped the flower with "Grey Flannel" memento ink and then used distress inks and an aqua brush to colour.  Love the soft look this gives.  I layered the circle on pink card and trimmed around it.  The lace strip is two pieces of die cut watercolour paper, butted together and the join covered with a thin stripe of the pink card.  The die I used is the Crochet edging by Die-namics.  The sentiment is from a Simon Says Stamp set. 

So that's it for today.  As I'm typing this, I'm watching the rugby test... All Blacks versus South Africa.  14 minutes gone and no score... its a very tight game so far!  GO THE BLACKS!!!!!!!!!

Mygrafico Monday Feature~ Back to School

Monday again and it's another feature over at Mygrafico.  Our Back to School challenge is still on here... and this week we are showcasing this wonderful set by Sweet Chic.

It has some delightful images and is prefect for Back to School projects.  I enjoyed use it so much I ended up doing three projects....

First up... some bookmarks.  I made these for the daughters of two of my workmates.  I googled some quotes to finish them off.  The background paper is included in the kit.

Next up, a teacher thank you card.

I have been using Word to make my cards.  I'm learning how to layer and make backgrounds transparent.    I gave this card to Alia (who is 5 and in her first year at primary school) to give to her teacher.

And finally I did a very CAS card.

These images are superb to play with.   I am entering these cards into Simon Says Stamping  ~ Back to School challenge.
