Summer Card Camp week3

I found the colours this week a bit easier to use.... seeing the red made me think of Poppies so I pulled out my Poppy Background and had a bit of a play.  Things didn't quite turn out how I pictured them in my mind so I ended up with three poppy backgrounds on my desk.... So far one has made it to a completed card.
Summer Stamp Camp Week 3

I started by clear embossing the background onto some light taupe card and using Barn Door red distress, used the resist technique to colour the poppies.  I matted this onto a light brown card.  The panel was then pop dotted onto the dark chocolate card base.  I embossed the sentiment in white EP then used Swiss Dot folder to dry emboss the bottom half of the card.  I added the white and brown grosgrain ribbon and a butterfly punched out of the brown card and distressed with the red ink.

So now I have some other poppy panels to play with.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks also for all the lovely comments that you leave. I really appreciate them

Take care

Summer Card Camp week 2

Amazing colours... but challenging for me.  So many colours to go on one card.  I wanted to do something soft and was inspired by this card from Virginia to use the colours as a background.

Summer Card Camp week 2

I was gifted a set of Hero Arts Shadow stamps when my friend Sue passed away, and I used one of these with distress inks to make my background.  I then spritzed it some glimmer mist in a reddy colour to give some shimmer.  I then stamped the Hydrangea in red and green ink and coloured with distress inks.  I added some highlights with a white gel pen.  The seam binding ribbon ( purchased here) finished it off beautifully.  I was pleased with the final result.

I am enjoying the camp as I do struggle with putting colours together.  Seeing all the wonderful inspiration from Jennifer and Kristina and their guests is just awesome.

As a little side note, our niece, Rachel and her hubby, Angus, are now the proud parents of Willem born 5th July 2011 in Toronto.  Well done Rachel and Angus!  He's very sweet.

Hope you week is going well...

Cheers

Summer Card Camp 2011

I was lucky enough to win a spot in Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Warner's Summer Card Camp from Shari's blog.  It's a month long camp full off wonderful inspiration.   Our first week's inspirational colours are Purple, Pink, Orange, Sky Blue and White....  I am so pleased to be able to join this camp as it's all about colours, something I struggle with, so I'm hoping for some good inspiration.  I really find it hard to combine colours but here's my first card for the week
Butterfly fun

I started by using some orange card to punch out a lacy border.  Then I took some sky blue card and stamped the flourish background in blue and purple distress inks.  I then distressed around the edge with the blue and purple.  I had some pre-coloured butterflies in my stash ~ conveniently in pink, purple and orange.  I just had to add the sentiment to finish the card.

I did have lots of fun, trying to think what I would do... did lots of doodling and sketching so have lots of ideas.

Got the new car this afternoon.... it is FABULOUS.  What a wonderful smell of new car leather.  Can't wait for the weekend so we can take it out for a blat.... and I can get some good photo of it to share....  Can you tell I'm a bit excited!!!l

Have a good week... I'm off to check out Day 2 of the camp...

Cheers
