More colouring....

I can't stop practicing with my Prismacolor pencils.  I did some more colouring on Tues morning prior to driving home.  It was my first time driving hubby's Nissan Maxima home on my own.   It took me an hour and a half.  The first part is on windy country roads then onto open motorway.  I admit to being a city driver!

Any way I got this piece finished and made into a card on Tuesday night

The flower is a Concord and 9th stamp and the sentiment is from a Kaisercraft set. 

As I was home alone Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, I did even more colouring....

 

These are from a MFT set.   I have now cut them out with my ScanNCut and will use them on cards soon.  

And I did some more fur colouring on a teddy.  Here's a sneak peek at the colouring.  The card will be revealed on the 8th for my Southern Girls Challenge post. 

 

Quite happy with the fur on this one.   It is such a tiny image it was quite a challenge to colour.  See room for improvement but practice, practice, practice.....

I'm now back up at Mangawhai, having driven up after work today.  I'll be happy that hubby will be driving home on Tuesday.  Yes another long weekend.  Get used to short work weeks.... which it could continue!    Two full weeks then another  4 day one. 

Super Saturday and ANZAC day Sunday

Today is ANZAC day here in New Zealand and Australia.  It is the day we remember our ancestors who served and died at Gallipoli in Turkey during the First World War and all the other service men and women who have served in all the other wars.  This morning my hubby was up at 5.30 to go to the Dawn Service at our local cenotaph in Browns Bay.  He goes as his late Father served in World War II.   Me - I stay in bed and think about them.

Yesterday was a SUPER day... in the end there were only 4 of us stamping... but oh what fun.  We had plenty of room to spread out.  Must admit if everyone had made it, it would have been a bit cramped....We started just after 10.15am and finished round 4.30pm.  It was a lovely warm day so had the door to outside open, the sun was shinning in and we got to sit outside under the umbrella for our lunch.  Unfortunately no photos as my camera was playing up... ( blond moment and I didn't check the batteries till this morning!!!!)
I had a great day... finally finished the swap pins for Stamp Camp next weekend, got some more quilted pieces done and a card made with one, as well as an easel card - instructions from Sue.... then later in the evening got two more cards finished.

  The swap pins are a series of 4 stamps that I have done various colour schemes on, using a variety of colouring mediums - water colour pencils, aqua crayons and markers.
My teddy card used paper I had downloaded from Gina K's Peachy Keen collection available for free here. I coloured in the Teddy ( which was one the lovely Anne had sent me before I bought the stamp) with Distress ink - Walnut Stain and some peachy aqua crayon.  Welcome baby is a Stampin'Up stamp.

The easel card is made with a frame ( cut out with a nestie) and folded over the central image  I stamped on some of the left over Peachy Keen paper, with some Stampin'Up Pocket Silhouette stamps in Dusty Concord and Walnut Stain distress inks.  Sentiment also by Stampin'up.

Next was a quick card as I had the background already - I made it the other night when I was using my Impressibilities - used it as a stencil and sponged the Tattered Rose ink over it.  Made a flower ( a la Dawn McVey) with some computer paper inked with the Tattered Rose and cut out with a Dahlia die from Spellbinders and crumpled. Sentiment by Stamp-It ( this one is for SIL whose birthday is next week)  Plus entering into OCC challenge this week - Blossoms)

And finally - the last card is for The Play Date Cafe's latest challenge - colours to use: Silver or Gray, Clay, Cream and Turquoise.  Think it fits the bill.  I used my new Borderabilites to make the scallop, a new set of stamps from Fiskars for the flower ( coloured with water coloured pencil) sentiment from Stampin'Up ( stamped in Potters Clay ink from Momento) and ribbon from my stash ( not sure where it came from)

It's Chritmas Time in the city....

I just love this time of the year.... the radio stations have started playing Christmas songs and carols....What's your favourite?  I love Silver Bells, Silver Bells.... I don't even know who sings it but it just lovely.  Now it's December I start getting the decorations out ... getting the tree this weekend coming.... but last weekend I put up the Christmas Wreath on the front door.  This year I made a new wreath... ( the old one was looking a tad sad :-(...)  A few months ago I went with a friend to the Heirloom Christmas Shop and got a few bits and pieces to make myself a new one and here is the result....

I was very pleased with the result and it looks awesome against the white front door.  

I have also done a few more tags.... I now have enough for the presents.... but not sure I can stop!!!!  I really am enjoying making these.

A "beary" nice surprise

Before I show you my "beary" nice surprise, I have to tell you the background story.    In 2006 ( from April to Dec) I worked in Wellington ( 660kms - 1 hour by plane plus 3/4hr from the airport to my house) I used to commute - up early on Monday morning to head down to Wellington and then home again on Friday evening.... anyway while there I made friends with the lovely Janet.  She was also on secondment to Wellington from Tauranga.  We worked side by side and got on really well.  Now at that time I was making a lot of Teddies - easy to do when I was on my own in my apartment.  In Wellington there is an amazing department store called Kirkcaldie and Stains.  It is a very old, upmarket department store and each year they raise funds for charity by selling bears.  In Dec 2006 I bought one - a delightful concierge bear.  The next year I contacted Janet and asked her if I sent down the money would she buy one for me and send it up.  Of course she did with delight and bear no 2 arrived - a little baby Kirk bear, followed the next year by a Sun Bear.  This year I hadn't got around to sending her some money and asking her to get me one... but got to work today (after having 3 days off last week) to find a parcel on my desk...... YES!!!! Janet had gone and got the latest bear - Mary Christmas Bear and sent it up for me.... what a wonderful friend.... And isn't she just the cutest little bear.  She is so soft and cuddly.

I managed to catch up with Janet today and had a great chat with her.  She is still working in Wellington - not sure for how much longer though... so maybe next year I will have to find some other way of getting a Kirk's bear.

Caardvarks - Color it challenge

I saw today that the latest Caardvarks challenge is "Color it". This was just perfect as last night I had coloured in a number of Bentley Bear images I had stamped from a free set I got with Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine , I stamped the image in Versafine Onyx black and clear embossed then coloured using watercolour pencils blended with a clear marker. I added some glitter marker by American Crafts under the image for snow and on the pom-pom on the hat.
Some of you might recognise the sketch I used - Card Positions Systems #110 ( such a versatile sketch). Sentiment and flourish from Inkadinkadoo. The flourish was stamped with Distress Ink - Peeled Paint and the sentiment was stamped with the Versafine and clear embossed. I'm not sure what the PP is as it was in a pack that I got when I went to stamp group. I am really pleased how this one turned out.
I took the photo at about 7.00pm so you can see summer is coming... the days are definitely getting longer even if the temperature isn't getting warmer.... still only 18 degrees C - should be much warmer by now....
