Utterly Distressed at Sweet Stampin' Challenge

Hi there. Time for a new challenge at Sweet Stampin' and this week our theme is Utterly Distressed....

However before I start, I just want to remember ANZAC Day today... to celebrate the servicemen and women who fought during the wars... in particular WW1.  Our world is the better for their sacrifices.

So back to the card I made for this challenge.   I've gone shabby chic again... not really in my comfort zone, but doing a few of these lately.

I took some pretty patterned paper and after trimming it to size, I tore around the edges.  I added the chiffon ribbon and black cord around the middle and then built up the other elements.  Half a torn doily, the little elephant charm, the chiffon ribbon bow, the pearl embellishment in one corner and three pearls in the opposite corner and the butterfly.  Finished with two sentiments from Altenew's Watercolor Halftone stamp set.

Do come and join us at Sweet Stampin' Challenge this week.  We would love to see your Utterly Distressed projects.

Distressed at Sweet Stampin' Challenge

http://sweetstampinchallengeblog.blogspot.com/

Hi there.  Time for another challenge at Sweet Stampin'.  Our theme this week is "Distressed"

For my card I have added Distress ink to the distressed edges of my card.

My background was made by mopping up some inks from my glass mat a while back.  I added the brown stamping with a Hero Arts background Stamp.   I rubbed bits off to give the distressed look.  I then took my scissors and dragged them around the panel and took some Distress ink and add it to the distressing.  I used Altenew Obsidian ink to stamp the Couture Creations little stamp.  I added some distress ink to the edge of the die cut feathers.  These were a lovely gift from one of my CCC swap partners.  The colours looked a bit distressed so fitted the theme perfectly.  Added a little string bow to the bottom of the feathers.

Would really love if you came and joined our challenge.

Gorjuss Girls

Two cards to share tonight.... both with new Gorjuss Girl stamps from Docrafts.

First up....
Gorjuss Girl

.....this beautiful girl standing on some books... however it is rather large ~over 6 inches  tall which meant she didn't fit onto my card front,  I had to trim the top and some of the books off the bottom.  I stamped and then coloured with Copics.  Added the trim down the side and layered onto some Creative Imaginations PP.  I stamped the photo corners onto the same card as the trim and cut them out.  The book plate is from the set as well and I coloured with Copics and some distress ink   Sentiment is a Hastings Rubber Stamps one,   Still need to practise colouring black hair.  Been watching some You Tube videos.

And this second one......

.... which I just finished and try to photograph under the artificial light ( not very good) The colours are way too greeny yellow.  Will definitely take a photo in the morning.  EDITED: replace with a decent photo
The hair colouring on this one is a bit better.  Still lots of room to improve!.  Happy though with the way I managed the shading on her dress.  The PP is from My Minds Eye ~ Portobello Road~ with some added stamping and distressing.  The ribbon is hand dyed ( not sure what colour I used as it was done some time ago) The fence is a Spellbinders De-lite sponged with Distress inks.
All in all very happy with my new stamps.  I'm sure you'll see a few more samples with these delightful girls.

We are off again this weekend.... This time down to Te Puke ( around 3hrs south east from home) to visit with our friends who own a Kiwifruit orchard.  Hoping the nice weather continues.

Thanks for stopping by.  Much appreciated that you take the time to visit.

Distress at SSC

Yes, the September challenges are underway over at Simply Scrapping Crafts.   New month so a new sponsor...

The first challenge is a favourite technique of mine....Distressing - this is open to a ton of different possibilities! Distressing with inks, scissors, etc!

Of course, I had to get out my Distress inks and have some inky fun to make a background.
Distressed Flower
I used a number of different distress colours and my foam applicator to colour the background.  I then spritzed it heavily with gold Perfect Pearls mist.  I used Vintage Photo to distress round the edge.  I stamped my focal image ~ a flower by Magneta.  I coloured it and then applied some Milled Lavender over the image.  I matted it and then distressed the edges with scissors and some Vintage Photo Distress ink. The sentiment is an E.A.D. sticker from this set.

Hope you will take the time to join us.... pop over to SSC and see what my teamies have come up with... and have a go at Distressing.

Cheers
Dawn
