Bingo time and Borders and Punches

The beginning of the month is a busy time for me... both Creative Craft Cottage and CCC Digi Creations start a new challenge.
Over at Creative Craft Cottage our theme is Colour/Bingo







            












I used the Bingo board...the top line..

 My white background was cut with a Penny Black die which I then added to a cream white card base.  The flowers are from a Spellbinders die, cut from some Core'dinations card which was then sanded. Tiny buttons added for my flower centres.  Added these over a leaf die from Hero Arts.  Finished with a  white seam binding bow. My sentiment is from Hero Arts.  This card is also the one I sent to Cat in USA for my September CCC.

At CCC Digi Designs our theme is Borders/Punches.  Our sponsor is Oak Pond Creations

I chose to use a pretty bouquet of daisies.

I printed it onto some blue card and the used a Martha Stewart round the edge punch to make my frame.  Used some Glossy Accents on the flower centres.

I see I had a bit of a theme going here too...

Don't feed the Animals.

One of my friend's youngest is turning one shortly.  So I decided to make a little scene with some Imaginisce stamps that I have.



I started by stamping the lion and tiger and colouring and cutting out.  I stamped the background clouds onto some white card stock.   I coloured some white card with Green ink and cut with Martha Stewart fringe scissors.   The pp on the card base is from a mat pack from Die Cuts with a View.  I stamped the greeting inside



I'm off to print out some digi's to take with me tomorrow to work on.  I just realised that I hadn't done a card for Monday's Mygrafico post.... Yikes.... luckily I have till Sunday to get it ready.

Playing with Alcohol......

Inks that it is!   Sunday I was surfing the net and came across Ranger Industries website and on their project page I found this project using Alcohol inks.  It made me want to try it... so I dragged out the inks and had a play.

I started by putting some colours and bronze mixative onto my craft mat and laid and twisted the card.  As it didn't have quite the look I wanted, so I pounced some more inks onto the piece.  Much happier with it then.  I cut out the floral oval from Spellbinders and trimmed around the dots to make the centre panel.  I cut another oval out of white glossy card and layered the two together.  The sentiment is from Penny Black.   The base background was made by adding Pearl, Copper and Silver Mixatives onto one felt pad and pouncing onto the glossy card.  Love the beautiful shiny look it made.  Added all the layers to a blue base.  I punched out some butterflies from a slightly lighter part. 

And now I'll share a cute card I made for a commission.... the request was something Kiwiana...

I found a pile of images from the internet and put them together on  a card.  Added the sentiment.  The person who ordered it was thrilled with it...It was for her sister in Singapore...

Off to ice the cupcakes I made for my team's planning day tomorrow.  We are having an all day meeting and going out for lunch at an Indian restaurant near our office.

What IS my style? What's Yours?

Well, that's a good question.   Over at Die Cut Diva's this month, Hannah set the challenge ~ "Show off your style".... this got me thinking.   I'm not sure if I HAVE a style. I like trying different things... but I know I like doing cards with a bit of embellishment but also not too much... a bit graphic but not to CAS.... does that make sense?   I've tried Shabby Chic... lots of hard work! but oh so pretty....  Love using my Distress inks to paint,
On the whole, I think I like things reasonably simple.  Yes, that's me

So here is my first entry in the challenge.

I used my Sizzix Die to cut the leaves. Martha Stewart punch, papers from a pack by Craftworkcards which came free with Simply Cards magazine. And a Hero Arts stamp - got it last week and this is the first time it's been inked up. The flowers were a bargain. I bought a posy of flowers for $2.50 and pull all the flowers off the stems.... got around 20 flowers and even some leaves.  Just glued them onto a tiny punched circle for stability.

I am entering this into Hero Arts flower challenge ( even if the flower isn't a HA stamp), CAS-ual Friday's Text challenge - hope it fits okay there.

Birthday Girl ( WMC39)

 

Jenny over at Wee Memories has wonderful challenges with awesome prizes. I enjoy entering her challenges ~ and the latest one is all about ribbons. Her sponsor this week is May Ribbons.... I wish we could buy them here in NZ but again, I have to order from overseas.

The card I made is for my great niece, Chelsea, who turns one next month. Some time ago Paula sent me some stamped images, and this little lady was one of them. I don't know who the stamp is by, but it is super cute. I used Copics to colour her in. Slowly building up my colours and learning how to colour with them. Still a ways to go! I used a nestie label to cut her out. The beautiful background is from a mat stack by DCWV... truly soft and glittery.  I added the yellow punched edge ( a paint swatch) and of course, the ribbon.  It is a lovely soft cream ribbon.  Not sure where I got it, but wish I had more as there was only just enough to do this.

Our weather has changed.... from hot and sunny to hot and rainy.... very very humid.  Last night  it was very difficult sleeping and I think tonight will be even worse!!!!  I have the fan going in the lounge already ~ will have to take it through to the bedroom later.
