November CCC Reveal

Each month I tried and take part in the CCC (card chain challenge) over at the CCC blog... this month our choices were:

and the themes were Blessings/Deer/Friendship and the products Papertrey Ink and Watercolours.

I chose the sketch and the colours.

I used an Altenew stamp set and inks to make this card.   It went off to Lucille in Colorado.   I received a beautiful card from NanaConnie

It's been an awesome day today, with two of my stamping group ladies coming over - we stamped and talked and ate our lunch outside... And I got 8 cards and repurposed  an other one.  MISTI helped me make 5 the same cards very quickly.
Three of us spread out all over the table.

Thanks for stopping by.  Hope you get your craft on this weekend.

Hello Hello Hello

I'm here to say Hello, Hello, Hello.. - over at A2Z Scrapbooking.. following on with our monthly theme of Focus on the Sentiment.

I was inspired by a couple of different cards on Pinterest.  Took ideas from them and came up with this CAS card.

I used my MISTI to ensure I got a good dark black stamping of my Hello and the rest of the sentiment (from DC151 Hello Stamp & Cut- :  This popular Stamp set is currently Out of Stock at a2z Scrapbooking, however you can CUSTOM Order it in the Store. Just click on the REQUEST CUSTOM ORDER form on the store HOME Page).  I trimmed the panel and added a black mat.  Thanks to MISTI I was able to do some multi colour stamping on the feathers (from CM126 Color Layering Peacock. )  I used colours from the matching ink set. (AF394 Peacock Layering inks)  I fussy cut them and added.

Remember if you are in need of any items from the a2z Scrapbooking store  you can use code Dawn15 at checkout to receive 15% off your purchase of $25 or more. Marathon card making weekend....

WARNING - PHOTO HEAVY POST
Well my marathon card making weekend is coming to an end... hubby will be home in a couple of hours... it's going to take that long to tidy up the dining room and table

I've had a great weekend - even managed a few chores... this morning washed all the floors and went out to get meat from the butchery.    And a total of 10 cards made since Friday evening.  '

Today I've been on a Christmas card blitz.  Started by using MISTI to stamp a pile of SOA Peppermint Stick backgrounds in lots of colours.  Then with help of MISTI again did a few panels for the fronts

All the stamps and the die are from the SOA Candy Cane Lane Collection.

And did you know you can use the Peppermint stick background to make a plaid!  Well you can...

The blue ink went down first and then I turned the card 90 degrees and stamped in the red.  I die cut it with the little scallop die from one of the earlier SOA collections.  My mini perfect layers made it easy to add a little white mat around it.   Clear embossed and die cut the deer's head.  Cut the Merry in a few colours before deciding on the white one.

I also stamped some envelopes with some SOA goodies for my Christmas cards

My final two Christmas cards were both inspired by cards made by Gayatri Murali over at Winnie and Walter's rerun challenge.  I have the stamp set being highlighted and Gayatri's cards got my creative juices going.

I used the bigger of the pennants to make my pretty pastel trees.  Paired them with a sentiment from the SOA collection.  I embossed it so love the bold black against the soft pastels.  Entered into the challenge at Winnie and Walter.

and for my second one I went monochromatic

Used the smaller pennant and stamped it in the three greens from one of the Altenew inks sets.  Added some tiny die cut gold stars and some sequins from Lucy's Little Things.  The sentiment is made up of three from the Hero Arts Peace stamp and die set.  I used a Lil' Inkers die to cut the panel and to emboss the card base.   This one is going into the challenge at Winnie and Walter as well.
I am also entering it into the Geometric challenge at A Blog Named Hero.

Whew!!!  If you made it this far... Thank You.    Despite all of this creativity my mind is still churning with lots ideas for cards and I could keep going for ages... but reality sets in when I realise I have to clean up and get ready for work tomorrow.    Thanks for stopping by.

Altenew June Inspiration

I just LOVE my Altenew stamps... slowly building up my stash.  The Altenew Blog is awesome as well... lots of inspiration and once a month... they have a little challenge... based on a photo inspiration.  This month's photo is stunning

photo inspiration challenge_June_2

Isn't this just stunning.

Here's my card inspired by the above

I took my inspiration from the flower colour and the lace on the dress.  I used the new Spring Daisies stamp and white embossed onto some kraft paper ( some very heavy packing paper) I used some Faber-Castel pencils and mineral spirits to colour the flower.  Used some Tea Dye distress ink and a Tim Holtz lacy stencil to make the background.  The sentiment is from Altenew Beautiful Day set.   I'm hopeless at the placement of  gems or sequins so just scattered a few on this card.

Had fun making this one.  This stamp set is so versatile.  You can stamp the layers or you can colour like I did here. One of the reasons I so love Altenew stamps.

More Masking and new stamps!

I'm spending time this long weekend with friends at the beach house in Mangawhai and have bought some supplies along... minimal (although that's not what hubby said of my rather full small suitcase and shopping bag full of supplies) but I did bring along some new Hero Arts goodies...

http://onlinecardclasses.com/maskerade/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/MSK_participant.png

I am taking this online card class so got to watch Day 3, 4 and 5 videos all in one go. Day 3 used liquid masking (sadly not in the supplies I brought with me) and Day 4 used Freezer paper, something I've never seen here in NZ - but I believe I might be able to get at Spotlight in the quilting area- still remains to be seen.  Anywhoo that left me with Day 5 - using clear embossing for my mask - or really as I know it, resist.  However it's not just stamping and embossing bold stamps, but also using embossing ink via a pen to cover your entire line art stamps once you've coloured them.  Now embossing ink/pen I DO have.

I stamped the Hero Arts Night and Flower flower and coloured with Copics.  Once done, I used my Versamark pen to cover the flower and clear embossed.  I then sponged over with some blue Distress Ink.  Added the sentiment from Quietfire Design.
Entered into the Any Goes challenge at Simon Says Stamp

I also did some masking yesterday with Post It tape -

This is using a new Hero Arts set (Baby Animals).  I masked and coloured these but haven't made it up to be a card yet.

And other of yesterday's offerings

This one uses the new Hero Arts Colour Layering Bird.  I spend a bit of time trying out different colour combinations before making this one.  My colours:
base ~ HA Stone Wash blue, 2nd layer~Chipped Sapphire distress and 3rd layer HA Wet Cement.  Did not quite get the branch in the right place and my sentiment is rather drunkenly added to the card!  Not quite sure how that happened.   I trimmed my card down - a bit much as it turned out, so used some ombre ink to stamp Hero Arts Deco Flower background to add to the side.   Finished with splatters of the inks.

If you are interested in getting any of the Hero Arts stamps and dies and stencils be sure to check out A2Z Scrapbooking (this is where I get my Hero Arts goodies) and if you are spending over $25 in store, use my code Dawn15 to get a discount of 15%.

thanks for stopping by.  Your visits are much appreciated as a your comments. If you like what I've done, please let me know!
