Cherry Blossoms Bunch - two ways

My last order arrived - including Altenew Cherry Blossoms Bunch - stamps, stencils and die.    I made two cards this weekend using it.

First up - used the stencil to colour it.

I used Altenew Frosty Pink and Coral Berry for the flowers and Green Fields for the leaves. I added Honey Drizzle for the stamens. For the gold stripe I used Altenew Buffalo Plaid stencil - masking off so just one stripe used.  I also got some Simon Hurley Lunar Paste Slippery When Wet in the order, so that was what I used through the stencil.  The sentiment is from Altenew Birthday Builder set.   Added some Pinkfresh metallic gold pearls to the centres and around the flowers.

This one is being entered into Darnell's NBUS challenge for February

Edited:  Thanks to Maxine - I'm adding this to the February Challenge at We Love Stamping  - stamping with optional stenciling.

For my second card I tried something different - Shimmer powders.

For this one I stamped the flowers and then I did some watercolouring by wetting the image and dusting with Nuvo Shimmer powders and Pixie Powders to add some colours.  I thought they woud look amazing against the black background.   I had used some watered down Lunar Paste - Slippery when Wet to splatter and smoothed some over some white card to cut the sentiment.   I layered onto some white die cuts slightly offset.

I'm enjoyed trying out different ways to colour this stamp set.

Watercolouring with Nuvo Shimmer Powders

Hello... Dawn here to share a card with some watercolouring for Die Cut Divas

Altenew is our sponsor this month, and the challenge prize is Altenew Artists' Watercolor 24 Pan Set ($49.99 value).   Altenew will issue a 100% discount code to the winner.

This month's challenge: Watercolouring

If you have been following me for some time, you will know I LOVE Altenew products so excited to be able to highlight them.

I used Altenew Craft Your Life Project Kit - Hello Beautiful in this card.   I started by using Altenew silver embossing powder to emboss the largest flower from the stamp set in the kit onto some mixed media paper.   For my watercolouring I took some Nuvo shimmer powders and tapped a small amount into the wells in a painting palette and added some water. I used a blue, pinky red, yellow and green powders.   This makes the most amazing shimmery paint.  I added the paint to the image using two colours on each flower and leaf.   Once it had dried I used the matching dies to cut it out.    Next step was to die cut a panel using Altenew's Mix and Match frame dies and add some splatters with the paints and some with black paint as well.   I layered this panel over some light green card so you can see it through the holes.   The sentiment is from Altenew's Sentiment Strips #3.  It's layered onto some silver card.  The photo of the card doesn't do the gorgeous shimmer justice.

Hope this inspires you to join us with your watercolour projects ( don't forget to use your die cut machine as well)

More Floral cards

Hi all... I've got a couple of floral cards to share today.  I made these with new stamps from Senz... - just haven't had time to post yet.

First one

This card uses the embossing folder from Altenew Silk Art Craft Your Life Project Kit as well as the matching stencils.  I embossed and lightly inked around the background before using blue and green inks to colour up the embossing.  I added some Nuvo glimmer past over the darker layers of the blues.  The sentiment is from the stamps that are part of the kit.    Added some white gauche paint splatters and matted onto a pale blue metallic card base.

I'm entering this card into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Emboss it

and my second one used Fairy Tale Florals from Altenew

I stamped the image onto some mixed media paper and then used my New Nuvo Shimmer powders as watercolours to colour the image.  Once it was dry I used the matching dies to cut it out.  I used Altenew Organic Linen folder to embossed a background.  Added a die cut sentiment and a little white embossed sub sentiment.  Added some black sequins to finish.

Today was a stunner here in Auckland.... full of sunshine - a lovely late winter day.

I took my lunch time cup of soup out and sat on the part of the new deck that hubby has laid and looked out over the back yard.   It was delightful and a nice way to spend my break.  It's awesome that my team lead has allowed me to work from home this week while I'm still not 100%

Print with a Die.

Hi there... well the lovely Maxine set the challenge for our NZ technique swap group this month..... and what a challenge it was!  Use a die to make a print.  Luckily she gave us precise instructions!  Basically you cut a die from mixed media/watercolour paper, use watercolours to paint the back and saturate with water and print it onto another sheet of watercolour card.  Let them dry and go for gold!

I cut two of the Simon Says Stamp Fresh Daisies.(circa 2012 but still a favourite).  I liberally painted with Nuvo shimmer powder and water before turning it over and pressing it onto the another piece of watercolour paper.  I let them dry and then after colouring another die cut added both the die cuts to the printed card.  Added lots of splatter - some white gesso mixed with a little of the leftover blue powder. I die cut a black Hello from Honey Bee Bitty Buzzword stamp and die set and used some vellum for the shadow.   The little lovely stamp is from the same set.   I finished with some gold gems.  Really pleased with the results.

My card went to Maxine this month... and she has let me know it arrived.   Just in time to get there in July!  I did procrastinate a bit - really wasn't sure what die to use, so left it till nearly the end of the month.

Thanks for stopping by today.

SENZ - Creative Craft Expo 2022

Hi there.  I spent a great day with my friend Suna at SENZ - Creative Craft Expo held in Auckland - it's running over three days.... I always take the Friday off and go with Suna.  This year, we decided to take a class - Watercolouring with Nuvo Shimmer powders.   We were  able to get three cards made.

Here is a couple of pics of me and Suna.

Suna

Suna and I
and here are the three cards we did....

Three different ways to use the Shimmer powders... precision watercolouring, watercolour wash and messy watercolouring.  We also painted our chipboard letters.   The last card is a vellum base with the watercolour panel at the bottom of the card.  And here is my haul

One set of Altenew stamps, stencils and dies, the Altenew Craft Your Life - Silk Art kit, chipboard elements, dies, stamps, stencils, shimmer powders, oxide inks...

And I've booked another class for tomorrow.  Another one with Chick! Interactive Under the Sea.  Can't wait.

I was home by just after three... so decided to use the little chipboard butterfly I did in a Make'n'Take and make a card with it... and used the left over part of the messy watercolour panel from today's class... I'll share later in the weekend.

It's been a GOOD DAY!
