Craft Roulette #248

Back to some crafting and manage to watch the replay of Craft Roulette #248.  Been a while and took some time to get myself to think of a design and to get it made. 

Project: Tag(s)- used a Catherine Pooler tag die from Tags, etc die set as my focal image. 

Colours: Snow White - yellow and blue for her dress- red for the poisoned apple, and green for the forest. 

Element: January is Summer here in NZ.  So sentiment for summer and yellow and blue for sunny skies

Random: Branch(s)(ing). - my Apple tree has branches. 

My sentiment is from a Winner and Walter set - Big, Bold Seasons.  My tree is from Hero Arts - Layering Fall Trees.  

Happy to have got this one done.   

Tag You're It! - and some colouring....

Had a fabulous weekend just playing with my stash... I did some colouring, embossing paste and Pixie powders, and made a tag for the Tag You're It challenge.

Here's the tag I was inspired to make

I took my inspiration from her embossing paste background, focal flower, and use of black labels for the sentiment. 

I took a manilla tag and used a Hero Arts stencil and some light modelling paste and covered some of it.  I then gathered together some already cut die cut elements... blue vellum leaves, some green sprigs and an Altenew flower coloured with iridescent paint and fussy cut, and added them to my card.  I used my computer to print the sentiment which I trimmed and added to my tag.  All in all very happy with the result. 

And here is the technique piece I did with some embossing paste and Pixie Powders (similar to ColorBursts) - following a video by Ingrid Blackburn I watched.

It really shimmers in real life as the Pixie Powders have a lot of mica in them.   I also pulled a pattern off the watercolour on the stencil.  It's much less as bright and graphic, more smooshed and abstract but will use it for something.  Not sure what I will do with this one yet but it is too nice to cover up!

And finally I did some pencil colouring using Gamsol (mineral spirits) after watching a Gina K video, 

I did this on some 200GSM watercolour paper but feel it would have been better on a smoother card.  However, the result looked quite amazing.   I splattered some black ink on the background and white embossed the sentiment onto black card.  All the stamps are from an Altenew set. 


I'm entering this into the challenge at City Crafter Challenge - Spring is around the corner.  From the inspiration photo I took the word flowers and thought about spring flowers and also another entry into The Flower Challenge.... Anything Goes.   They generously allow you to enter up to 5 times... this will be my 4th entry.

Tag You're It! ........ Inspired by Donna Mikasa

While I was visiting some of my blog friend's posts, I came across Donna Mikasa's blog post.
Donna is an amazing card maker and today she is a guest designer over at Tag You're It challenge blog.  I love visiting Donna's Three Umbrellas blog.  She is the Queen of CAS cards.

So here's her inspiration tag

 

Isn't it just gorgeous. 

My inspiration was the background water colouring, her beautiful flowers and her enamel dots...Ok so I've CASE'd her tag!

I started by die cutting a little tag using a Pretty Pink Posh die.  I made my background by scribbling a Timbow marker onto a piece of laminated card, spritzing with water and smooshing my tag onto it.  I did this a few times to get the depth of colour I wanted.  I added some black and clear striped washi and then some stripes of silver glitter washi.  I silver embossed a flower stamp (from a big set of stamps I got with a magazine a couple of months ago) and used Zig markers to colour, then fussy cut.  The sentiment is two stamps from the StampNation Beautiful World kit.  I popped the flower up with foam tape.   I finished with some 3D Pearls.  I picked up a set of 12 colours at the Craft Fair last week.

A Vintage Tag card

Our challenge for this months NZ technique swap was:  Anything goes for the card, but you must tuck in a tag with a Christmas recipe/crafting idea/inspiration. 

Here's the card I did for my friend Suna

I went for a vintage look with some pretty papers and using a double pocket card tutorial that I found on Splitcoast Stampers.  I used a Lawn Fawn die border die to make my faux stitching line, a MFT die for the lace, a La La Land die for the corners and Spellbinders die for the sentiment frame.

The tags are die cut with a Pretty Pink Posh die and the stamps on it are Kaisercraft.

I made some of the pies tonight... they are delicious

As I've added the tags to the card I'm entering this into the Tag challenge at Simon Says Stamp.

Another tag for Virginia's View

I did a big tidy up of the craft room yesterday and came across the a discarded die cut.  The die didn't cut cleanly and a portion tore as it came out.  I decided to turn it into a tag for the challenge at Virginia's View.  A very CAS tag.

I used some chipboard from a tissue box to cut some leaves which I used to cover the torn bits.  The roses were made with some blue vellum and I finished with a Spellbinders word die cut from some black scraps. 

Getting a bit excited about my trip to Perth.  The bag is nearly packed, the shuttle is booked and the money is exchanged.   Just two more sleeps and I'm on my way.
