Craft Roulette #248

Back to some crafting and manage to watch the replay of Craft Roulette #248.  Been a while and took some time to get myself to think of a design and to get it made. 

Project: Tag(s)- used a Catherine Pooler tag die from Tags, etc die set as my focal image. 

Colours: Snow White - yellow and blue for her dress- red for the poisoned apple, and green for the forest. 

Element: January is Summer here in NZ.  So sentiment for summer and yellow and blue for sunny skies

Random: Branch(s)(ing). - my Apple tree has branches. 

My sentiment is from a Winner and Walter set - Big, Bold Seasons.  My tree is from Hero Arts - Layering Fall Trees.  

Happy to have got this one done.   

Craft Roulette #238

 I watched the replay of the latest Craft Roulette and was really finding it daunting.   Overnight an idea came to me.... Santa in a pair of shorts....   yeap had my big girl pants on to stretch that parameter!

Here is my 25th submission:

This one is a slightly bigger card - 1.5" x 6.5"  Not sure I totally nailed the Project parameter.   It's a bit more mixed media than collage - but there is torn paper, paper piecing, stamp, rub ons, stenciling.  

Smooshed some Festive Berries Distress ink on the a white card base, blended some DO in Vintage Photo around the edge.   Added the stripe of torn paper and then went to town with rub ons. stamping, and made the diagonal lines with the stencil and Slippy When Wet Lunar paste. My splatters were added with a stamp - much more precise placement!   Stamped Simon Says Stamp Santa and coloured him with red and white (to mimic the checked tablecloths in an Italian restaurant)  Used my big girl pants to stretch the Element parameter here! He is also wearing a quintessential NZ black tee shirt!   I paper pieced the cabbage tree (A NZ native tree) and added with Santa to my panel. 

Had great fun with this one.  Nice messy fingers! 

After I had submitted this one to the challenge... I remembered I had some 49th and Market Postage Stamp Washi stickers and thought they would make a great collage... so here's my bonus card. 

 So project - Collage ✔  Colour- Italian Restuarant - reds and greens ✔ Element - Short.  One stamp was the short version of Christmas -Xmas ✔ and Random - diagonal lines - blue and red airmail stripes around the edge. ✔

Wish I thought of this first!

Craft Roulette #234

 Finally got time to watch last weekend's Craft Roulette episode #234 and had some "funn" making a card after work today.   I had a design in my mind, so it quickly came together.  This is my 24th submission.

Made my 6"x6" card base from a sheet of 12"x12" white card.  Cut a 5.5" square panel and ran it through my die machine with a MRMK 3D embossing folder to add some texture.   Next I added the burlap and lace cloth.  Layered it onto a black mat. Took some of the rest of the card from the base and added a rainbow of colour with Distress Oxide inks.  Took the outline stamp from Altenew's Beautiful Day and stamped and then die cut.   Stamped the leaves twice, and die cut, leaving them uncoloured.  Finished with a die cut sentiment that was in my baggie of sentiments.  

So glad that the thought in my mind actually turned out just how I imagined it!  

Craft Roulette #233

 I managed to watch the last little bit of the Craft Roulette live today.  Kristina Werner was the guest.   I wanted to make a birthday card for my friend who will be 70 next Saturday.  Last evening I watch a YouTube by Marion Emberson who did a spotlight technique she had seen done by Julie Hickey - so today I watched Julie video.   When I saw parameters for today, I knew I had to try out the technique. 

This is my 23rd submission... 

I used Penny Black's Background Basic Stencil to mask off the centre panel.  I used Distress Oxide inks - Tattered Rose, Wilted Violet and Fossilised Amber to add my Hummingbird colours.  I then used a Paper Roses stencil which had flowers and leaves and added the colours with a bit of a heavier hand.  I then stamped the Altenew Fairy Tale Florals image with Altenew Obsidian Black ink.  More leaves on the floral image to meet the Random parameter.   The Congratulations card parameter- congrats on your birthday sentiment.  It's a mis-mash of two sentiments from Altenew Sentiment Strips 3.   And of course, the Best Friend parameter has been met as this is for my Bestie's birthday next week -hence the 70 on the card.   Finished with some Silver Dot Sparkles.

Happy to have got time to do this this afternoon - as I also made a Banana Choc-chip and Walnut loaf and then dropped hubby at the Bays Club.  He's watching the All Blacks versus Australia rugby test with some mates.   I'm watching it at home and will go pick him up and go out for dinner when it finishes.   It's a day time game in Sydney, Australia so is an early evening game here as Sydney is 2 hours behind us.   It's half time now - we are leading 28 - 14.  

Time to settle back and watch the second half.

 

Craft Roulette #232

 I finally had some time to play with this week's Craft Roulette - number 232 - and my 22nd submission. 

Some interesting parameters.   I had to google French Bulletin Board to work out what it was... it's a ribbon bulletin board... so that was a good start for me.  Over time, I've been gifted a few dies and stamped images from some of my Die Cut Diva team mates... and one of them was an awesome trellis looking die. 

As you an see it was perfect... it was white woodgrain card so I used some Memento Toffee Crunch ink.  For the background I used Catherine Pooler Icing on the Cake ink... (Catherine was the guest for this week's challenge)  - this was my winter dessert colour - Self Saucing Chocolate pudding, a firm favourite for a winter dessert in our house.   For my balloon element, I chose to make some hot air balloon trading cards to pin on my board.   I had some rub-on from Stamperia and added them to some cream card and die cut with a rounded corner die, adding some ink blending to go with the vintage look.  The sentiment is also a rub-on from the same sheet.   Added some black gems to represent the bead parameter.

All in all, I was really happy with the results and think this make a great guy card.

Craft Roulette #229

 Some really interesting parameters this week!

I got home late from work tonight and hubby was getting the dinner organised, so I headed into the craft room as I knew exactly what I wanted to do.... 

Most of this stuff was all sitting on my desk.  The little square card was a about 4" square.  I cut the dark purple paper from a paper pack from Francheville.  It represents Blackberry colour.  The little envelope was made using my WRMK envelope board. It's about 1.5" x 1.25".  I stamped a little envelope on it and a little sentiment (both from a Waffle Flower stamp set)  The die cut flowers were from the Pink Fresh Studio Artistic Dahlia washi that I die cut the other day.  They are popping out of the envelope and are all overlapping each other as is the little sentiment label (from the Artistic Dahlia stamp set)  Added a little burlap string bow on the envelope.  Add some stamping in the top corner relating to sending an envelope.  

For a quickly made card... I was really happy how it turned out.  

Craft Roulette #228

 I haven't entered for a few weeks but got some ideas on this week's parameters 

Here's how my thought process ended up

I found the sentiment when I searched "Monday Quotes"  and printed it on my computer.  I die cut it with a circle die and added a matting layer.  Found some pretty paper from my stash and trimmed it to fit on my 5" square card base. This is my Bee Garden colours - and I added a little Bumble Bee, which I coloured with some Tri blend makers.  I also used a marker to added a faux layer around the floral panel. Add some little yellow gems for a bit more Bee Garden colours.    So that's all the parameters covered.  

I have a friend in mind to give this one to - next Monday! 

Craft Roulette #225

 Episode #225 - my 19th submission.   I watched the replay in the weekend and yesterday I made my card.  

An A2 card - with tea party colours - inspired by pretty floral tea cups.  House pet is my little kitty cat and stripes - embossed stripes on the base layer, kitty has grey stripes and the sunshine stripes shining down.  The cat stamp is an older cling from Penny Black - called You are the Bestest.  I stamped with Versafine Onxy Black ink and clear embossed it.  I painted it with Zig Markers.  I added the grass with a Copic marker, and used Distress Oxides to stencil the sunshine stripes.   Finished with a little pre-printed sentiment from Creative Expressions.  

Craft Roulette #223

 I watched the latest Craft Roulette on replay over the weekend.  For the last few days I've been contemplating what to do to meet the parameters.   This afternoon after work I finally decided what to do.   This one is my 17th submission.  

Project - Smaller/Larger - Two sized of my gnomes.

Colours - Planets - Red for Mars, Blue and Green for Earth, Brown for Pluto and Yellow for the Sun. 

Element - House(s) - Gnomes live in a Mushroom House. 

Random - White Border - border around the main panel - highlighted by the wonky frame. 

The gnomes are from a NZ company called Montarga.  The little one is from a stamp with three gnomes and the bigger one is a single stamp.   The house is from a Freebie set from 2017. 

Craft Roulette #221

 Today we had Florence's birthday party at noon... she turns 1 on Monday 1 July.   She is growing so quickly and is now walking.   Here is the family 

When we came home I watched some of the replay of Craft Roulette for the day.  The guest this week is Sara Lihz Staroska and there were some fun parameters...

Dolly had me thinking for a bit... then I remembered I had a stamp with a Holly Hobbie doll (a doll from the 1970's).  It was a freebie from Cardmaking and Papercrafting magazine.  Then found some PP that reminded me of sprinkles of iced donuts.   Of course I like making A2 cards.  A pocket was easy, just added one to Holly's apron.  

My sentiment is from a company called Montarga - a New Zealand company.    I really was pleased with this one and to get it done the same day as the episode was aired was awesome.  

Craft Roulette #220

 Watched the replay of Craft Roulette#220 on Saturday afternoon but nothing came to my mind for the parameters... 

Finally on Monday after work I had an idea and off I went.   Finished the card only to realise I had missed the deadline... so decided to become a member of Craft Roulette which gives me a few more days to enter.  

Here's what I came up with

I started by making my background.   I used some kraft card and a stencil - a map of London.  I used some brown inks.  I then embossed it with a We Are Memory Keepers basket weave embossing folder.   That ticked of chart (map of where the balloons are going) and the basket element.  The hot air balloons are coloured in dragon colours... greens and reds and brown on the background.   And the Dude parameter is covered as this is a card for a male friend. 

The balloons and the sentiment are both from a great freebie set that came with a magazine a few years ago.  It's my go to set for masculine cards.  I distressed the edges and corners of the map to give it some character.    Definitely not my usual type of card but had fun making it.   

Today is a public holiday here in New Zealand.   Celebrating Matariki - the Māori New Year.  I had a lovely day - the weather was really nice - did my grocery shopping and then took myself off to the Mall as I need new slippers and got a few other little bits and pieces.  Then into the craft room for a couple of hours of play time.  Ended the evening by watching a great NZ movie called Hunt for the Wilderpeople.  I think this was about 4 or 5th time I've watched this one.  It's really a fun movie.   Now time to head to bed with my book! 

Craft Roulette # 219

 Back again for my 14th submission for the Craft Roulette.  

Interesting parameters.  As soon as I saw Folded Corner, I knew I wanted to do a Corner Flip Fold card. 

Project: Anniversary - who doesn't love getting flowers for an anniversary!

Colours: Salad -green lettuce, red tomato, black olives, blueberries, white dressing and brown croutons.

Element - New - first time this stamp is being used. Got it last week.

Random - Folded corner - my card is a Corner Flip fold card.

My Teddy Bouquet stamp is from Penny Black. I got it last week and have been waiting for the ideal time to use him. I watercoloured the image with scribbled Zig Markers and fussy cut it out. It was layered onto the red panel and some white Nuvo Drops finished it off.

As it was Ted's first outing, I'm adding this to Darnell's NBUS Challenge. And to the Penny Black Saturday Challenge Anything Goes.

Craft Roulette #218

 It's been a few weeks since I had a chance to make a card for Craft Roulette.  Funn parameters this week'

I found this fabulous patterned paper in my stash... it didn't have a label so no sure who it's from, but it was perfect for my colours.  For my holiday... I chose a summer holiday... here in NZ we call our vacations - the holidays.  I decided a Flamingo would go with the tropical theme.  It's a Hero Arts Color Layering Flamingo and it's matching die.   The wheel element is the ships wheels on the PP. I added a stripe of geometric paper and stamped the Summer sentiment from a Winnie & Walter Big Bold Seasons.  I used part of a Christmas stamp for the holiday sentiment. 

Loved using these bright colours especially on a cold miserable winter's day today.

 

Craft Roulette # 212.

 Managed to watch most of this week's live Craft Roulette episode. Interesting parameters 

This was my 12th submission.  Mary's guest this week was Nina from Waffle Flower so I used the same Postage Collage Die Nina used,.. just a little bit differently 

Parameters 

Project - For a Co-worker.  This is for a co-worker's upcoming birthday

Colour- Kites in the sky.  Red kites

Element - April, Poppies for ANZAC Day 25th April - It commemorates the landing of Australian and New Zealand troops at Gallipoli, Turkey, during World War I. On this day, people wear poppies as a symbol of respect and remembrance for the fallen soldiers.

Random - Sparkles.  Glitter on my ephemera and foiled sentiments

Yesterday I popped out to Spotlight as my heat tool was shorting so needed replacing.  So a new tool, a lovely paper pack and some wooden embellishments found their way into my basket.  And then a quick call into Crackerjack (an all sorts of things shop) to pick up a Little Birdie paper pack and ephemera pack - Poppies and Roses.  

This is actually the second card I made, but I didn't like the first one.  I took a sheet of the poppies paper and die cut with the Waffle Flower die.  I added the ephemera poppies (already glittered) and added some glitter to the wings of the butterfly.   This week I had received my Krafter's card order - which included the latest Waffle Flower Postage Collage stencil - Wild Flowers and Spellbinder's Curved Everday Sentiments hot foil and die set.  I used some silver foil.  It's a great set with a lot of sentiments together so a few in my stash for whenever I need one. 

As it was the first time I used the Spellbinder foil and die set, I'm adding this to Darnell's NBUS challenge 

Here's the one that didn't make the grade

It will go in my box of cards.... might get used sometime!  

Craft Roulette #211

I've missed a few weeks entering into the Craft Roulette.  Sunday,  I watched the replay of Episode 211.  An interesting set of parameters -

 

I went CAS with this card.  The greeting is Good Tidings for the recipient - summery sunshine, blue skies and green grass colours, the bike is mechanical and the little bow ties the bouquet of summer flowers together.   The bike is a Kaisercraft stamp and die set called Smile.  I found the little flowers in my stash - think they are from a Spellbinders set.  The sentiment is a Wordie pre printed sentiment. 

The bike stamp and die is being used for the first time, so I'm entering my card into Darnell's NBUS challenge. 

Craft Roulette #207

 Had some fun in the craft room again today... watched yesterday's episode of Craft Roulette - 

Some fun parameters.  Took a while to come up with an idea.  I knew I had a cake stamp set from Catherine Pooler/Sugar Pea Designs from a few years ago.  Pulled it out and went through my patterned paper pads to find something I could use for Ice Cream Store colours.  

I found this pretty pink striped paper from a Forever Friends paper pack.  It reminded me of an Ice Cream store canopy.  I used ice cream colours of Strawberry, Mint, Chocolate and Orange Sherbet for the rest of the card.  My tasty element - birthday cake.  And the random element is the steamer banners along the top of my card.   The cake, flowers, banners and sentiment are all from the Catherine Pooler stamp and die set- from the Young At Heart Stamp of Approval collection.  

This was my 10th submission.  

Craft Roulette #206

 I managed to see the Craft Roulette show live yesterday ... 

Great parameters this week!  So much so I made two cards!   

Here's the one I made yesterday and submitted to the challenge

I started by making my background.   I was inspired by a video from Natasha Foote  - making a background with just one ink.... mine was a very old Hero Arts ink called Cup o' Joe.  I've had it for around 10 years.., and it still going well.   I smooshed it onto my craft mat and spritzed with water and dipped my Fabriano 160gms paper.  Dried and dipped again.  Then using a couple of lids to stamp circles and used a Catherine Pooler stamp set - Birds of a Feather to added some script and the Love postage stamp. Vintage colours ✓   I added a lace border using a Hero Arts wooden stamp called Lace Flower Cluster embossed with Ranger Vintage Pearl powder. - Lace on the Base ✓  It wasn't showing up so well... I added some extra ink blending to make it stand out.  Gave the background a bit of an ombre look.  I die cut a leaf cluster from the Fabriano paper with a Pinkfresh Curvy Leaves die.  I added a little bit of ink blending to the leaves.  That is my plant element.✓  My sentiment is from a Lawn Fawn stamp and die set - Magic Messages.   Again cut with the Fabriano paper and ink blended.  

Finally added a some little Hero Arts gems hearts to the centre flowers of my lace - Heart element ✓

And today - I made this one...

I've been seeing lots of cards using a birdcage and flowers... so that was my inspiration.  My patterned paper gave me a vintage vibe.  It was an A4 size so I cut it down into a 4" x 5.25" panel.  ✓  Used the same lace stamp and embossed it with the Vintage Pearl powder, ✓I have a very old Tim Holtz/Sizzix Bigz Die of a birdcage and bird.  I used some of the Fabriano paper ( it's a lovely light cream colour) to cut the die.  Added some gold gems along the bottom of the birdcage and a little bow from a bit of burlap.  My little grey heart from Altenew is added just under the bow ✓  And finally my plant element is the flowers and leaves.✓  The big green leaves are the Pinkfresh Curvy Leaves and the flowers are from the Spellbinders Be Bold Blooms.   I had them cut from some water colour paper and used Jasart Voyager Metallic paints to colour them.   I added a pre-printed sentiment from Creative Expressions - Everyday Wordies.

It was such a fun card to make.  I did some earlier in the day and the hubby and I meet up with our son and Grace at our local pub - The British Isles Inn just up the hill from us.  The boys had their glass of Guiness - to celebrate St Patrick's Day!  The pub was quite full of people dressed in green.  And there was a bank singing Irish songs.  Grace loved the music.   Florence didn't come with them as she is - unwell... ear infection and chest infection - poor wee mite.

Craft Roulette #204

I haven't had time to take part in the Craft Roulette challenge for a few weeks - but today I watched the replay this afternoon.  As soon as I saw the parameters I knew what stamp I wanted to use.  

I recently got some of the Spellbinders House-Mouse Designs and I had them sitting on my desk.   There was one super cute mouse with some flowers so that became my main image - and meet the Ears element. 

Thinking of you sentiment, Fairy Tale colours - soft blues, greens, pinks and purple (Princess colours!), Mouse has cute little ears and I stamped a scripty background.

I started by stamping the Spellbinders House-Mouse - Bouquet for You in Versafine Onyx Black ink onto some mix media card by Fabriano.  I then took some Speckled Egg Distress Oxide inks and lightly sponged around the mouse.  I then added the script stamp from a NZ company called Rubbadubbadoo.  I used Altenew's Gray Denim ink for stamp with.  Just needed something light. I then got out my Distress inks - Tea Dye, Worn Lipstick, Wilted Violet, Sage Green, Mowed Lawn and added little blots of colour onto my painting palette and used a brush to paint the image.  All these colours are inspired by Fairy Tale Princess.  My Thinking of You was from a LDRS Creative Anytime Stack - stamped in black and clear embossed before cutting out with the matching die set.   Bonus is I now have a lot more sentiments done.  Really pleased how it all came together nicely.

Craft Roulette Episode 201

 I missed a few episodes of Craft Roulette - but finally got to make a card from the latest episode...

Great parameters this week.   

I made my bokeh background with my quiet colours - soft blues and pinks which made a little purple in places. I blended with the inks on my brushes.  I then used a dotty stencil from Faith Pocock Studios and some Hero Arts Unicorn White ink with a finger dauber.  I added some Memento Gray Flannel ink stamped with a Just Your Next Stamps Mini Star Splatters in two corners.   I made my easel base and added a "sweet" cup cake topper.   The stamp is from Hero Arts Fabulous Birthday - one of my first Hero Arts stamps.  I die cut it and it's mat with some circle dies from Gina K Master Layouts 3 & 7. The birthday sentiment is from a Paper Roses die set and cut with blue card and vellum for the shadow.  Finished with some iridescent gems from Pink Fresh Studio.  

This is my 7th submission.   

Craft Roulette # 194

 It's been a very busy week... at work I've been doing some training that is really intense and tiring.  So after work it cooking dinner and that's about all I've had the energy for.   Just 4 more days of work then 12 days off.  Yesterday was a full on day and I didn't even get to watch the Craft Roulette till at least 8 hours after it had aired.   However, my washing was done and dried, the Ham was glazed and in the fridge, Chocolates filled with a nut made and Licorice Allsorts Slice in the fridge!  I was totally pooped! 

So woke about 2.30pm and got thinking how to use the parameters in the episode... back to sleep and then this morning I made my card. 

So my card base is a 5.5" square and the colour is Pearl - for birds eggs... plus blue flowers for blue eggs, the straw colour of the trellis is the nest.  The trellis is the ladder element - my flowers are climbing up the trellis (ladder)  as did my kitty.  His colour is inspired by the blackbird in the nest! So all elements are there.  The flowers are from Altenew's Build a Garden Morning Aster  - stamp, stencil and die set, and the sentiment from Altenew's Ambridge Rose stamp.   I used Distress Oxide inks in Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Mowed Lawn to stencil the colours onto the flower.   The sentiment was stamped in black and clear embossed.   Added some 49th and Market rub-on transfers around the top edges.  My little kitty is a Poppy Stamps die - Cozy Kitties - cut with some black card. 

Roll on Christmas... I'm looking forward to the break.
