Craft Roulette #223

I watched the latest Craft Roulette on replay over the weekend.  For the last few days I've been contemplating what to do to meet the parameters.   This afternoon after work I finally decided what to do.   This one is my 17th submission.

Project - Smaller/Larger - Two sized of my gnomes.
Colours - Planets - Red for Mars, Blue and Green for Earth, Brown for Pluto and Yellow for the Sun.
Element - House(s) - Gnomes live in a Mushroom House.
Random - White Border - border around the main panel - highlighted by the wonky frame.

The gnomes are from a NZ company called Montarga.  The little one is from a stamp with three gnomes and the bigger one is a single stamp.   The house is from a Freebie set from 2017.

Gnome for Christmas.

Just love the theme of this month at Christmas Kickstart - Gnome for Christmas.

I have a number of Gnome stamps but today I chose to use the first one I got... a freebie set from a magazine.

I stamped the house directly onto my card and added the sentiments.  I then stamped the gnome onto another piece of white card.   I used my Spectrum Noir Tri-blends to colour them all up.  Once I had the gnome done, I die cut it out and added to my card.   I added a little touch of blue ink blending on the top of the card for the sky.

I was pleased to get some time in the craft room today.  Yesterday I had to go over to my son's to do my washing as my machine packed a sad last Sunday.  Today we went out and bought a new one... being delivered on Tuesday.   Hopefully we'll be able to get it in as we only just realised it's wider than the one we have - yikes!

Have a lovely Easter break.

Gnome is were the heart is....

I've been seeing a few gnome cards around blogland and remembered that I had purchased some Whimsy Stamps digi stamps with gnomes.... in particular this one - Gnome Sweet Gnome.

So a card came to mind.  Now I have to say... this one caused me some issues.... First I decided to make it a mini slimline and only had a long die I wanted to use... of course I didn't take into account that it was a double layer die....

I had to do a bit of die surgery and gluing back together on the right hand end.  Doesn't look too pretty...but it's done.   I had printed out the image and the sentiment before die cutting and used some washi to hold the die and when I took it off it of it tore the card 😟  I decided then to add the stencilling so printed the gnomes seperately and then used the computer to make the sentiment black with white letters.  I trimmed it out and layered it over the messed up bit.  I coloured up my gnomes... I had melded them together to be holding hands.  I fussy cut them to add to the card.  Next I decided to add some little die cut flowers and leaves to the wall.  I made the little bee and then lost it!  Several hours later after making another one.. I found it stuck to the top of my slipper.... so I added it for dimension over the other one.... The middle panel has some dimension added behind.  So after a bit of a mission... it was done.

Did some babysitting last night... I went to over to Grace's house as she has been sick this week.  Hubby came over with some tea and a play.

He went back home around 9.15 and I stayed till her Mum and Dad came back at 10.45.  Such a poppet, went off to bed like a little gem... although I didn't manage to get her to eat much supper.

WWC 308 - Tristan's Challenge: All About Occasions

Hi there.  Time for another challenge at Watercooler Wednesday.  Our hostess is Tristan and her challenge is "All About Occasions"

Today I'm sharing a sweet little card I send my grandson.  It's a just for fun occasion -

I had a scrap of folded card that was longer at the back than the front so added some patterned paper to the bottom to make this little 3 1/2" x 6 3/4" card.  I added some washi tape where the patterned paper was added.  I used a Whimsy stamp set "Gnome Birthday" set to make my little gnome and add the sentiment.  My gnome was coloured with Jasart Pencils and then fussy cut him out.  Before I added him to my card I used a blending brush that I hadn't cleaned - that had some Altenew Parrot ink on it - and a Catherine Pooler stencil (Turkish Delight) to add the lightest of colour to the background.

I'm entering this into the Wednesday challenge at Simon Says Stamp - Make a slimline card.

Archie was feeling a little sad the other week as Perth went into Lockdown on the 31st January for 5 days and he didn't get to head to his first day of Primary school on the 1st.  He was so looking forward to it.   So hopefully getting this card will cheer him up.

Come and join in the fun at  Watercooler Wednesday Challenge and check out the project from the other designers.  Then take our challenge and link up your project to the challenge post.    We'd love to have you join us.  You have until Monday at 5 pm Mountain Standard Time (Tuesday at 11.00 am NZ time ) to link up your project.

WWC 299 - Heidi's Challenge: All About Occasions

Hi there.  It's time for a Watercooler Wednesday challenge and Heidi is our hostess with an All About Occasions challenge.

Last month, I was lucky enough to be able to go to a craft fair.  I did get a few bits and pieces, including a couple of different Gnomes stamps from a New Zealand company - Montarga.   Today I am sharing one of the cards I have made with the trio of Gnomes.

I CASE'd a card on Montarga's website.  I used some dark Green and and softer green card for my base and panels.  I stamped the Trio of Gnomes and coloured with Copics and Altenew Markers.  The sentiment is from a Catherine Pooler stamp set.   A couple of black gems to finish off.

Gnomes, Gnomes and Gnomes....

Hi there.... I just had to play today with some of my new goodies from my trip to the FYI Craft show yesterday.    Two of my purchases were Gnome stamps made by Montarga Stamps - a New Zealand company   They are just adorable.  Gnomes are so trendy again this Christmas so was really pleased to pick these two up.

I have already made 4 cards.  Two are for upcoming samples - the sneak peeks from yesterday's post.  So here are the two I made today

For this one, I used a pre-scored card by Rosie's Studio.  I used the Gina K layouts 2 for the die cut stitched panel.  I added a 1/8" matting with dark green card and used the little flag tag from Layouts 2 and stamped and embossed a silver sentiment.  I had stamped a few of this gnome and used my Scan'n'cut to cut them out.  For this one, I coloured him in red and green and then added dimensional tape to pop him up.

For this second card, I chose some turquoise colours to colour him up, with pink for my accent colour.  I used some patterned papers to make my layers and some pale blue for the mats.  I added the panel to a dark blue base.  I used a Hero Arts sentiment and the dots are from a Catherine Pooler set.

I am having so much fun with this stamp.  There will be more of them in the future I am sure.

A Scandinavian Christmas at Christmas Kickstart Challenge

It's a new challenge at Christmas Kickstart and Jo's theme is Scandinavian Holidays.  I'm enjoying the challenges as I'm building up a supply of different Christmas cards.

https://christmaskickstartchallenge.blogspot.com/2019/09/the-christmas-kickstart-challenge-19.html

Scandinavian Christmas lends itself to lots of fun reds and whites, folk art type images and of course Swedish Tomte (Gnomes) so that's what inspired me.   I did some Pinterest viewing and saw a pretty card that I was inspired by, using the little Tomte gnomes.

I started by printing off some Nordic patterned paper that I had in my Digital stash - unfortunately I forgot to note who I purchased it from.  I trimmed it to fit a DL sized card base.  I stamped and coloured the 5 gnomes.  The gnome was a free set a couple of years ago.  Super cute!  I remembered that I had some Cuttlebug alpha dies from around 10 years ago - not even sure what it's called now!  I haven't used it in such a long time!  But it was the perfect size for my gnomes to hold.   I added the Christmas sentiment stamped onto white card.  The base card looks black here but it is in fact a very dark green - the letters are also die cut with this dark green card,   I finished off with some little pompoms.  I had these in my stash from making little bunny faceclothes for a baby shower.

And while I was in the mood I made a second card....

I used Simon Says Stamp Holiday Borders stamped in Catherine Pooler's Rockin' Red ink.  I stamped the border a number of times to cover the central panel.  The little deer is from a Sugar & Spice Studio paper pack called Nordic Christmas.  I used a die to cut it out.  Added some Wink of Stella to the deer.  I white embossed the sentiment (from the Gnomes set) onto black card and it was all done.
I'm adding this to the Simon Says Stamp Flickr group as well as to Jo's Christmas Kickstart.

Had a lovely 5 days with my Dad and we celebrated his birthday. He got to see his little great-granddaughter and spend some time with the family.  Little Grace was a sick - she tested positive for Salmonella and ended up spending overnight in hospital while they monitored her.  She was still full of smiles and has come right thank goodness.  A tad scary though at the time for her parents and us too.  She's 4 months now and is rolling over a lot these days.

Thanks for stopping by.

Christmas cards galore!

It's been a few days since my last post and I've been busy... making a few quick cards.   So take note... lots of photos

First up a lovely teal poinsettia card inspired by Jennifer McGuire and my friend Kim

And two more Gnome cards

A couple of Sunny Studio Christmas Bells

and some Christmas Pine cones...

Hope you have enjoyed checking these out.  Please let me know what you think.

I'm off to play with my new Catherine Pooler inks and some stamps that arrived on Thursday evening.    I've got the whole week to play (after work that is!) as hubby is way doing a three day tramp down in the south of the South Island, with his brother and a group of his friends.  They flew down today and are coming back on the 3rd - Sunday week.   So lots of play time - might even resort to takeaways for dinner!

Some "Me" Time

This weekend over at StampNation, Catherine is having a Care Weekend! And she was encouraging us to have some "me" time - to refill our personal tanks.   So I decided to carry on my usual Saturday afternoon "me" time and do some crafting  - doing some cards just for the fun of it.

First up was another Gnome card for Christmas

I'm in love with these really cute gnomes.

Second one was playing with a doily die I recently picked up for $10.   It is a Star Doily and I thought it would make a great snowflake if I removed the outside rim.   So I gave it a try with some sparkly fun foam.... and it turned out awesome

A simple white embossed sentiment and it was done.

It was nice to have no deadlines and just to have fun.

There's no place like Gnome..

Had to start with the pun.... as I purchased Papercraft Essentials #150 yesterday with some Gnome stamps and matching dies..... And of course had to play straight away!

I CASE'd a card from the magazine ....

After I Facebook shared, one of my colleagues asked to purchase it.... so I had to make myself another one tonight....just changed up the colours a bit...and did  another card "from our gnome to yours"

For the second one I did some masking but I could have die cut the gnome as the free set has the matching die.  I can see a few more examples being made with this set.... it is adorable ..... and yes it does have the sentiment...."there's no place like gnome "
