Mr and Mrs

Hi.  Today is the final day for the February challenge at Die Cut Divas....This month's challenge theme is "Love is in the Air"and our sponsor is Hero Arts

I have used a stamp and die set called "Yes" (no longer available)

I started with some dark pink card and run it through an embossing folder.  I used a little file block to distress the embossing.  I added a paper doily and then from even darker pink card, I used the heart die cut and white embossed the sentiment.    A quick and simple card.

Do come and join us at Die Cut Divas for your last chance for  the month.

WWC#210 Heidi's "All About Occasions" challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  Heidi is our hostess this week with an "All About Occasions" challenge.

My card today is for a friend's birthday.  It started with me sorting through some bits and pieces on my desk.  I came across the stamped Altenew flowers that I had done ages ago.(from the Hennah Elements set) .. I stamped a few more of the smaller ones, and the leaves.  I used some Faber Castell Classic pencils to colour them.  I fussy cut them all and then worked on the rest of the card.   The lovely black die cut came from my friend Betty - it's an Altenew die.     As it's an American sized die cut and our cards are a different size, I had to do some die cut surgery to make it fit.  I added it to a white card and then a black card.  I used Rose Gold embossing powder to make the sentiment from Altenew's Sincere Greetings set.  The flowers were added and then I used some Delicata Gold Glitz reinker and water to splatter onto the card.

I'm entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - Anything Goes

Come join in the fun .  Check out the projects that the artists at Watercooler Wednesday Challenges have created then take the challenge and link your creation to the challenge post. We’d love to have you join us.  You have until Mondays at 5 p.m. Mountain Standard Time (Tuesdays at 1pm NZ time) to link up your project.

Altenew Zentangle class - Homework Day 1

I'm taking the latest Altenew Academy class - Zentangle for Cardmakers.  It's shaping up to be a great class led by Amber Davis.  Lesson one was about getting a feel for adding lines to an image.  This is called aura, a fundamental technique for zentangling.  It is just to get us comfortable drawing on our stamped images.

Amber used a stamp set called Frilled Petals... which I don't have so I pulled out my Botanical Garden
As you can see, it already has some lines on some of the stamps.  I used the flower on the stem.

I used the design that Amber used... a masked off rectangle.  I did some additional lines... on my stem and added the two buds.  Need practice on getting  two lines closer together.  I used my pen (Faber Castell Pitt pen) to outline the masked off area.  This set doesn't have any shading layers so added some colour with my Prismacolor pencils.  I added the sentiment from Adore You set across the bottom of the stems.  Trimmed the panel a bit and added with some fun foam to  white base.

I've watched lesson two and am about to watch lesson three and hopefully tomorrow some time to try out the techniques.

Just a quick picture of what I spend my afternoon doing....

 Nappy (Diaper) cake.

Wrapped in cellophane

Next Saturday there is a Baby Shower for my son's partner - Erin.  She has less than 10 weeks to go till due date.   Very exciting times.... and yes she knows she is having a Girl... hence all the pink!

Thanks for stopping by today.

Girly card for Southern Girls Challenge

Welcome to my Southern Girls Challenge post.    Team Trace theme today is Girl Power

Our sponsor are:

My card is a Girly card in that it is a feminine shabby chic card.

I used the Altenew flower dies from Krafters Cart die cut from white card and I used Altenew watecolours to paint them.  My PP is from my stash (not sure of who it's from).  I distressed the edges with Distress ink and my scissors.  The die cut frame and sentiments are by Couture Creations.  I managed to find them on sale for $3.98 the other day when I went to meet up with some of my team mates from Southern Girls.

I'm entering this the challenge at The Flower Challenge

Here's a picture of Louise, Karen, Wendy and me when we meet for dinner.  I had never met up with any of them before, but it was like we were old friends... we just talked and talked....

Lily cards #kncswap

I recently took part in a swap over at Kit and Clowder.  You got a partner and you sent each other a card.  I did two swaps as Alyce needed an extra NZ based swap... and guess what... it was my friend Suna!  How fun was that!  My other swap was to the USA.  For both my cards I chose to use a lily stamp from Altenew.  The flower gave me lots of scope for colouring.

Here's the card for Suna

I started by using a Tim Holtz burlap stencil and some soft grey Altenew ink to added a bit of texture.   I stamped my lily onto some smooth white card and then used some Copic markers to colour it.  I fussy cut it and then cut an oval frame to highlight the lily.  The sentiment is from Altenew "More than words" set.

Here's Annette's card

I made a background by stamping Altenew Rustic Linen in soft sand coloured ink.  I used a mixture of Copic markers and Altenew markers to colour my lily.  Added some white dots.  Sentiment is from the same sentiment set as my first card.  I added a stripe of metallic washi down one side.   I was inspired by a lily I saw at Moana on the edge of Lake Brunner on my West Coast adventure

As this stamp came as a freebie with my latest purchase from  Altenew, I am adding this to the challenge at The Flower Challenge.

And here is a picture of the stunning card I received from Suna.

Isn't it a stunner!

Annette has told me she has sent hers to me but it is still coming.

Thanks for stopping by.

WCC#208 Charlotte's "All About Occasions" Challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  Charlotte is our hostess this week with an "All about Occasions" challenge.

I had fun trying out an older technique that I saw over at Splitcoaststampers... called Faux Pressed Flowers.

I started by die cut the flowers with a Couture Creations "Geranium" from yellow printer paper.   I sponged the flowers with Altenew inks in Sunkissed, Orange Cream, Autumn Blaze and Firebrick and then layered them up together.   Next I used Altenew Just Green and Hunter Green inks to stamp the Penny Black stamp "Magnolia Rhapsody" and stamped the sentiment from Altenew "Sohcohtoa" set.  I glued the flowers over top of the branch.  The next step is to run the card panel through the Cuttlebug with an embossing folder.  The one I chose is "Zane" by Couture Creations.   I finished by layering onto some orange card before putting onto a white base.  A Pale Gold nuvo drop onto the flower centres finished off the card.

Come join in the fun and make a card for an occasion.

Happy Anniversary and some Holiday photos.

Hi there... I've been so busy of late that I complete forgot to post the Anniversary card I did for hubby.  Our anniversary was 21st January and it was our 41st one.  We were in Christchurch on the day and went out for a celebratory dinner with our friends - Alistair and Jennie  - who we were on the Biking Trail with.

My card was CASE'd from one I saw on the Altenew Fans facebook page by Dorothy Mutafopulos.  I used the little stamp set that I received from Altenew called "Billowing Blossoms"  to make a background which I die cut with a Spellbinders heart die.  I added the little sentiment to finish off.
I'm entering this into the Valentines/Love challenge at Sweet Stampin'

Here is hubby at dinner
And some photos of our tour

Thanks for stopping by.  Hope you all enjoyed the photos.

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  Helen is our hostess this week with an "Anything Goes"  Feminine challenge.

I've had fun with some Altenew layering stamp sets - Floral Fantasy.

I used the four different teals/greens from Altenew Sea Shore inks.... Mountain Mist, Volcano Lake, Lagoon & Emerald to stamp the two flowers and the leaves from Floral Fantasy set.  I them layered them on the card base using pop dots, trimming off the excess over the edge.  I added the gold embossed sentiment from Engraved Flowers set onto some black card with some gold washi down the edge.
