Paper Piecing - inspired by Michelle Short.

 I realised I didn't share this card when I made it a couple of weeks ago.  

I was inspired by a video from Michelle Short (https://tinyurl.com/y89azccx) - where she did some paper piecing using Altenew's Paint a Flower Chamomile set.   It was a delightful card and I CASE'd it 

 I stamped the image onto some white card and onto some brown patterned paper. I fussy cut the pitcher from the brown patterned paper and layered it onto the white image.   I added some brown makers to give it dimension.  I added some colour to the flowers and then fussy cut the whole image.  Michelle does the most amazing tags so I also added my image onto a tag.  I trimmed some green gingham to added to the bottom of the tag,  Added a little stripe of black to edge it.  I added the fussy cut image with dimensional tape.  For my background I die cut a panel with a Gina K Master Layout and used a Tim Holtz Sizzix brick die, layered onto a black layer before adding to a white card base.  Added a little stamped sentiment. 

Hope you all had or are having a great weekend.   I got to spend a bit of time in the craft room working on some DT work and also having a play with Grace  - she did some brayering, swinking, and using some punches.  Now I have three or four panels of solid Distress Oxide colours waiting to be used as well as some multi coloured smooshed panels. 

Special Woman at Sweet Stampin' Challenge.

 Hi there - It's our latest challenge at Sweet Stampin' Challenge.   The theme is "Special Woman" 

For my project today, I've made a mixed media tag. 

I started by cutting a large tag.  I used a Spellbinders large rectangle die to cut the fancy top.  I stamped Kate - a Julie Nutting Doll.  I paper pieced the dress from some patterned paper.  My background then started to evolve.  I added some 49 and Market rub ons.   I added a few layers of green ink blending.  I used Altenew inks starting with a light colour and going onto a darker green around the edges.  I used my computer to make my words - did them in Pic Monkey and trimmed.  Added some white paint pen around the edges.   Used the paint pen to add splatters and blobs.  Added a twine bow to the top.

Die Cut Divas - Slimline Paper Piecing

  Hi there.   Over at  Die Cut Divas this month our sponsor is Rachel Vass Designs and our theme is Flowers.   

I tried something a little different with my Rachel Vass florals by paper piecing the florals.

I printed the image -Floral Border Slimline - three times... once on white card stock, one on cream colour paper and once on purple paper.   I cut the white panel with Pink Fresh Studios Essential Mini Slimline dies.  The purple layer was cut with another of the dies from that set.  I used some pencils to add some colour to coloured flowers.  I then fussy cut them and added to the base.   Just prior to Christmas I purchased a Go Press and Foil machine and ordered some Spellbinders foil dies.  This one I foiled with silver foil.  Using this machine is just another way to use your die cut machine... I use a Cuttlebug and the foiling machine goes through perfectly.

Paper Piecing at Sweet Stampin' Challenge.

Hi there.  Time for me to share my card for the latest challenge at Sweet Stampin' Challenge blog.  Our theme this week is Paper Piecing. 

I have a huge hoard of Patterned Paper and this was a good way to use some up.  I took this sweet stamp from Stampin' Up (Beautiful You set) and stamped it in the middle of my white panel.  I then layered it onto two different patterned paper from My Mind's Eye - Happy Day pack.  I then stamped the image onto the same papers and fussy cut out Umbrella from one and the dress from the other.   I decided that no embellishments were needed on this CAS card.

A little Whimsical Fun

 This image is called Sammi.  I did some paper piecing and used a MFT doily die and a sentiment die that was free with a magazine.  Add a few gems and it's all done.

Strawberries in August....

Over at Die Cut Divas Arlene has a theme of Hot August Nights...  It's summer time in the Northern Hemisphere and summer time means Strawberries to me... so today I am sharing a shaped card I made

I hand cut the strawberry from a template I found in a Papercrafts Inspirations magazine.  I embossed it with Swiss Dots folder and then added some Versamark and clear embossed it.  I used a Swirls folder on the dark green for the top of the strawberry.  I die cut a Holly Flourish and a small Tattered floral flower.  Added the double bow and some string.  I coloured my pearl with a Copic as I'd run out of big yellow ones.    My sentiment was computer generated and then die cut with a Spellbinders tag

As Virginia's View challenge this month is shaped cards, I've entered this one.

Been busy with commissions this week... One lady wanted three similar cards for Brother's Day, an Indian celebration... I did them but forgot to take a photo.  She also wanted a birthday card for a friend and I used a paper piecing technique that I saw on the OCC this week..

 

Using some PP to piece the Kaisercraft roses before fussy cut them out.    

Way behind in my homework for the class, but have been pinning like mad, some of the stunning gallery cards for inspiration.   Hoping to catch up later this week and over the weekend.

Mygrafico Monday Feature ~ Shabby Flowers

Hi there!  Back again with a Mygrafico Feature.  The challenge last week was "Summer" and this week we are featuring Mel's Brushes Shabby Flower Stamps  which has 9 different stamps

  A great set to use.

I started by importing three of the flowers into my word document together with two words from a Hero Arts digital kit ( Say it in Pieces) and printed it out.  I then printed it out onto a scrap piece of computer paper and using some washi tape covered the flowers with PP and reprinted it so that the PP got printed.  I then trimmed them out and paper pieced the flowers.   The two outer flowers were stuck directly to the card and the middle one was popped up on dimensionals.   I finished with some K & Company epoxy stickers for the centres.   Some distress around the edge and layered onto the PP background on the card base.

Spoil yourself Silly...

Over at Penny Black at Allsorts, this month's challenge is to use "shaped' cards.  Plus it is also a design team call too...  I just got another set of PB stamps in the post on Saturday.. (thanks to the speedy delivery from Simon Says Stamps) This one is called "Bubbly" and is sure sweet..

So I decided to make a Heart Card.... something a bit different.

This little mouse on the wine cork is super cute.  I started by using my Spellbinders heart to make a card base.  As I cut the top of the heart on the fold, I cut another one and laid it on top.  I trimmed the bottom to let the card sit nicely.  I then cut a plain heart out of some PP and did some faux stitching around the edge.  I stamped the mouse directly on the PP and also onto some card stock.  I used Copics to colour and cut it out and pop dotted it.  Stamped the sentiment and mounted it onto the same cardstock as the base.    Added some flowers and gems.  I was really pleased with the results and I hope the team over at Penny Blacks at Allsorts do as well...

And here's another PB birthday card.  This was made for my niece, Vicky, turned 30 last week and this is what I sent her.

It was inspired by a card (here) by Elizabeth Allan.  I did some Paper Piecing, added some glitter and a bit of nice hot pink ribbon.
