Congrats....

It's my turn to share my card at A2Z Scrapbooking today, with a card I've made for my husband's niece.  She is getting married in a few days and with this month's challenge being all about glitter, glimmer and bling... I thought I'd try out using some Heidi Swapp metallic foil.

Congrats

This product is activated by heating it onto Toner ink through a laminator.  There is a special laminator called a Minc machine, but I used a normal little home laminator.  I firstly stamped the sentiment onto some paper and took it to my local bookstore and for 20cents got it photocopied onto my card stock (I took it with me) Once home I used the silver foil to laminate.  Not totally perfect, but not too bad!  I added the obligatory bling and a shiny mirror card Spellbinders Heart.  A very simple but elegant looking card.

Supplies:
Hero Arts DC149  Congrats Stamp & Cut  (Note:  This set is currently Out of Stock at a2z Scrapbooking, however you can CUSTOM Order it in the Store. Just click on the REQUEST CUSTOM ORDER form on the store HOME Page!  This goes for pretty much ANY Hero Arts products that is still available.  If you can’t find it in the store, please feel free to ask!)

Spellbinders: Lace Hearts

Confidence

Today I have a CASE'd card I did the other day on my day off for our National Day (Waitangi Day)  The original card was in Australian Cardmaking Stamping and  Papercrafting.

Confidence

I used the same colours and sentiment for the my card, but used some Hero Arts stamps for my flourish and little flower.  I masked either side of the centre and used some Distress inks.  The sentiment is from Kaisercraft.

Yesterday we went to the wedding of my son's friend Mike to Kelsey.  The day was just amazing and Kelsey was a beautiful bride.  They were the first of my son's age group and friends to marry

Kelsey and Mike

Scott, Mike and Kieran (my son who was best man)

My Hubby and Kieran - my handsome men.

As you can see the weather played it's part and was hot and sunny.  I was so proud of my son, he looked so handsome and made a lovely speech.  The reception was held at the local hall just round the corner from our house so it was nice to be able to walk there and back.

Summer is finally here at last with beautiful weather the last two days.  Long may it continue.

"The Wedding Singer"@ Red Carpet Studio

Hi there.  Back with a new card challenge at Red Carpet Studio

Yes, this week's card challenge is to create either a wedding or anniversary card! Our challenge is inspired by "The Wedding Singer."

This has to be a favourite movie for me... I really enjoy watching this... the music is so cool.

So pop over to the Blog and see what inspiration the team has for you and also the gorgeous card our guest designer, Paula, made.

So onto my card.

I used a Penny Black stamp as my focal image.   I cut it with a Spellbinders oval die.  To make my edging I used an idea I often see Debby (aka  A Scrapjourney) use.  She  takes an edging die or punch and snips it so it goes around the edge of the oval.  I used a Die-namics edge die in gold card.  My corners are also parts of a Die Namic die as well.   Added some punched flowers in pink to match her bouquet.

We would love to have you join us.  There are lots of fun things coming at Red Carpet Studio over the next few weeks...We have a Lucky Leprechaun Blog hop next Friday and Saturday and look out for more info on this

Had great fun this morning Scramble over at Hero Arts Flickr group managing 2 cards in the 90 mins... I'll share later in the week...

Summer in the Northern Hemisphere means summer weddings.... so this week we start our fortnightly challenge ~ Weddings.

The Design team got to work with this wonderful set from Olillia

They really came up with some lovely projects..   Pop over to the blog for a look.

I decided to make a little wedding favour box.

I used an online tutorial (here) A really quick and fun little gift box to fill with something nice.

We'd love to see the wedding creation you link up for the challenge.  Remember to link up only your project, not your entire blog.  Also link back to the blog!
Thanks for popping in for a look today.  Your comments are really appreciated.

Wedding wishes to Aimee and Callum

Friends of my daughter are getting married today in Perth... A big congratulations to Aimee and Callum.   I've made a card for them.... it's winging it's way to Perth just now.

Congatulations Aimee and Callum

I used the Penny Black stamp set " J'aime Paris" and stamped the lovely couple onto white card that I had embossed with a folder.  I used watercolour pencils to add a soft touch of colour.  I then added pearls for the bouquet and buttonhole.  The corner flourishes are from Inkadinkadoo and the sentiment was in a freebie set in a magazine.   I hope the day went well for them.

I didn't tell you about our little mishap on Saturday night.... we had a very enjoyable evening with our Family Group sharing a lovely Mid Winter Christmas dinner..... but unfortunately a full glass of red wine got spilt over our dinning room carpet.... yeap... a FULL glass... we managed to wipe the walls and under the breakfast bar and tipped copious quantities of table salt over the stain.... but to no avail.  Well some but not all was sopped up.  Now there is still a very bad stain.  The cleaners are coming in to try and clean it tomorrow.  After that.... well that's still to be seen.  Just an added expense....

Good weekend planned.... hope to visit SENZ  It is New Zealand's biggest Scrapbook and card making Expo.  I hope to get out to the Telstra Stadium on Sunday.  It's about 40 kms from home ~ right over the other side of the city to me.... There's always lots of goodies with 30 stall holders and lots of make'n'takes as well as classes.  Most of the classes are full now so I'll be just a shopper!!!!

Enjoy the weekend everyone!

Hannah's 90 minute scramble....

I managed to get up in time for the 90 minute scramble on Flickr Hero Arts group yesterday.... it started at 8.30am Sunday for me here in NZ.... but as we had a late night, I wasn't sure if I'd make it.... but there I was in my PJ's and dressing gown!!!!!!!!  and I left hubby sleeping ~ catching up with his jetlag~
The theme was to use a Hero Arts woodgrain stamp ( don't have) or to use distress ink (which I do... 28 colours in fact now)  I decided to break out my new Timely Bird Collage cling stamp and off I went.... used distress inks to colour, but then I cut around it.... yuck wish I hadn't done that... looked awful....oh well only have 90 mins so better get on with it,..  added some black Enamel Accents.... well let me tell you.... DO NOT pick it up to photo when it is wet..... smeared something terrible.....all over the card, all over my fingers..... HELP!!!!!  now what.... only 45 mins left..... so start again.... have to be different this time.... needs to be simple.....

Hannah's 90 min scramble

Oh much better looking ( and NO enamel accent in sight)
This time I stamped the image and then used an oval nestie to cut it out.  Left it in the die and used some Tea Dye distress to sponge around the inside. Then painted with some Pearlescent paints and some distress inks.  Once I took it out of the die, it left a lovely frame so was able to quickly mount onto the cinnamon card stock with the ribbon and the sentiment.  Nice and clean and simple....  in the end was rather pleased with the result.... now I know I can do more with this stamp.... maybe some layering, or highlighting, and as my friend pointed out, it would make a great acrylic overlay.... so lots of ideas running around for when I have more time.

My desk however at the end of the 90 minutes looked like a bomb site....
after 90 mins

Yes Sue.... I know!!!!!!!!!!!  I am a messy messy crafter..... she has seen my desk even on a good day!!!!!!!!!

Rest of the day went well.... sun sun and sun.... walked down to the beach and had a swim and a read nap on the grass overlooking the beach....then went out to a Teppan Yaki Japanese meal with the kids and their partners and DD's parents-in-law.   Great food and lots of fun.  Got to see the Official Wedding photos.... stunning.
here's one of the family
and one of my favourites ( Emma's too)
Hope your weekend was a good as mine....
take care

Collage Fun.... and a Wedding Anniversary Card

The new Hero Arts catalogue has a whole heap of lovely collage images.... as I write, my Timely Bird cling is winging it's way to me from the USA.... meanwhile I thought I'd try my hand at some collage stamping and masking of my own.....
Butterfly Collage.

I started by stamping the butterfly from the Antique Engravings set into the middle of the card.  I then made a mask and laid it on top.... then using post it notes I did lots of different stamps and ink colours ( mainly in the softer distress colours) around it.... Music background, Magical Background, Silhouette Grass and Flower Wood Background from Hero Arts and a script and grid stamps from Rubadubadoo ( a NZ stamp company) I then removed all the masks except the butterfly and used various distress inks with an ink blender.  I then used Copics to colour my butterfly.  This made it the focal point being much brighter than the background.  I layered it onto a nutmeg coloured card after making a corner with a Fiskars punch.

I scored some really good prices on the punch and some Fiskars stamps.  I found a clearance shop which sells all sorts of things..... called Ike's Emporium, that had the big 8 x 8 stamp sets (35-36 stamps on each) for $2.95 each.  I am not sure how they managed to sell them so cheap..looking on the website for Fiskars these are over $16.. I got 2 of the Girlfriends set and 1 of the Sentiments.... I'll keep the other set for a give away at some time... plus I got the cut and emboss corner punch for $7.95 and Shape Template (Tags-1) for $1.95.  Love getting a bargain.   My non-stamping friend was laughing at how excited I got when I saw these....

Tomorrow is my wedding anniversary so I won't be blogging.... going out to dinner to celebrate 33 years of marriage.... but before I go I must show you the card my Mum and Dad made for us....
that's Hubby and Me 33 years ago... my don't we look like so young!!!!!!!!! Inside the card, there is a photo of our hands with our rings.... certainly brings back memories...  thank you Mum and Dad for this wonderful card!!!!!

Have a great rest of the week everyone.

More wedding fun

A few more tidbits to share from Emma's wedding.... at the reception all the tables had been named and a plan made of where everyone was to sit
Emma had then made a wine glass charm with everyone's name on it which she put into a little chiffon bag together with a piece of a jigsaw puzzle - everyone had to write a little word of wisdom on the back of.... All the chiffon bags were the colour of the table... we sat at Emerald table and our bags a lovely green -

And now for some more photos.

these were both taken before leaving Emma's place.  My glasses are photo-chromatic so I look like I am wearing sunnies.... but it was just so sunny...
I really love the one of my two beautiful children.... can you guess that I am one very proud Mama....

this last one is my parents with Emma.  It is lovely that her Grandparents were there with us.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great week.

I've been pottering.....

haven't felt much like doing anything the last couple of nights.... suddenly feeling a bit tired and grumpy!!!! Have put out my back and didn't sleep well last night....  Poor DH has copped it.... but have a couple of cards that I made recently to share.

First is for my friend Marnie's birthday is a couple of weeks.... she wears a lot of green colours so thought I'd do this green big flower

I coloured parts of the petal with a Copic.  I had a bit of an issue with the sentiment.... notice it is not straight.  I have misplaced my stamp positioner and am waiting for my new Stampin'Up one to arrive - still all in all, I am pleased with this CAS card.

Second card is for our nephew who is coming up 16.  He is a very good golfer - so thanks to some stamped images send to me by the lovely Paula, I was able to make this card.
Golfer Birthday card

Had fun using distress inks to colour in the image and then using some watered down Liquid pearls to give it shimmer.

Well that's it for tonight... am going to head off to bed with a hot wheat bag and my book and see if I can get some sleep.

The countdown to the wedding day is now well and truly underway.... 17 days to go.... have seen the dress almost finished.... magnificent!!!!! and everything else is falling into place thanks to one extremely organised daughter.  She has everything planned to the nth degree.  So very impressed with her.

Bye for now
