WW 276 Marsha's Challenge: Anything Goes with a Masculine Twist
Hi
there - time for another challenge at Watercooler Wednesday
Challenge. Marsha is our hostess with an Anything Goes with a Masculine Twist challenge.
Another card using the Faux Metal Paper technique that Jennifer McGuire did back in 2015. This time I used Smoked Hickory Distress Ink and added Perfect Pearls in the white colour to give a silver look. I used a WRMK 3D basket weave die to provide some texture. I stamped the tool box from "For the Boys" which was free with a magazine and coloured with Copic markers. I then fussy cut it out and added it on the panel. The sentiment is a sticker I found a while back. The little stars were from the sticker set too.

WWC 272 Helen's Challenge: Anything Goes with a Masculine Twist.

I have been struggling to do masculine cards so I went back through my Flickr photosteam to get some ideas. This technique was one I saw over at Jennifer McGuire's blog in 2015 which she called Faux Textured Metal Paper. I remember enjoying making the faux metal paper back then and again today. It's done by using Perfect Pearls over distress inking. For this one I masked the centre of the white card and then sponged on Fossilized Amber Distress ink and added Bronze Perfect Pearls. It really gives it a metallic shine which when you emboss it, makes it really pop. I used a WRMK 3D embossing folder . I added the big Happy Birthday die from Elizabeth Craft Designs cut from black cards stock. I added some black pearls to finish.

Two for one on the edge stamping
I recently saw Jennifer McGuire doing an on the edge stamping trick and getting two cards for one lot of stamping. (you can see it HERE) I decided to try it out today using a Concord & 9th stamp. It was really easy to do with the assistance of MISTI. I decided to colour it in two different colour scheme.
On my second card I used more muted colours - choosing my lightest Copics. I added a few more splatters with a Gold Wink of Stella. The die cut and sentiment are from a Catherine Pooler set.
I enjoyed doing the same design in different colour schemes.
Thanks for stopping by today.
For the first one, I used bright Copic colours. The sentiment is from the same Concord & 9th stamp set as the flowers. I added some Liquid Pearls to the splatters.

Happy Anniversary
Today is our 38th Wedding Anniversary. Time just seem to have flown by. I made a card for him using a stenciling technique I saw on Jennifer McGuire's blog.
I covered my white card with Blueprint distress ink and using a Tim Holtz stencil and some Silver Shimmer Spritz over it. Added a touch of blue/silver glitter paper down one side. The balloon and elephant are a WPlus9 stamp and die set coloured with Zig makers.
As I've used a critter I'm entering into the challenge at Simon Says Stamp

Inspired by....Jennifer McGuire
..... yes I have been very inspired by Jennifer and her Stretch your stamps on-line class. Today I am sharing two cards that have been inspired Jennifer and her classes.
First up a card using ~ background stamps, flower stamps and label stamps.

Background was stamped with the Lattice stamp and Wet Cement ink. Next a strip of dotty paper was layered with a thin strip of black card to emulate a mat. I stamped the label in the middle and then again onto some scrap cream card. The flower was also stamped onto scrap card, coloured with watercolour pencils and de-constructed. It didn't fit where I wanted it, so but cutting all the bits and pieces out and re-constructing how I wanted them worked so much better... I stamped the sentiment onto the label and cut it out, leaving off the flourish bits and the dots.... and stuck it over the other label. This card is for my July CCC (see this post from Deborah over at Society of Stampoholics) I've gone for the Friendship theme.
My second card is using Jennifer's idea of partially cut with a die.... ( this idea actually was in Jennifer's class ~ A Cut Above~ but fits the Stretch Your Stamps techniques as well.)

I partially die cut the Dogwood and then stamped it. (Note to self: ink first, then die cut)
I did some watercolour painting with some markers that I got today from Smiggles I drew onto an acrylic block and picked up the colour with an aqua brush. I trimmed the card a bit to make it still the same size as a normal card. The script is actually some washi tape. I used three strips of tape and then edged it with thin strips of black card. The sentiment is from Kaisercraft.
I am entering these cards into the challenge over at A Blog Named Hero.
Enjoy your weekend.

Alcohol Thinking Inking
I have been following Jennifer McGuire's Holiday Thinking Inking over at twopeas. One of her techniques this week involving Alcohol ink was to use it on Watercolour paper. Now as most of you will know, Alcohol inks are usually used with Glossy paper... but the delicate look on watercolour paper is amazing.
Here's what I came up with.
I stamped the large snow flake from a Papermania Duo set onto the watercolour paper and embossed it with white EP. I then used Stream, Aqua and Cool Peri inks with silver mixative. I was really pleased with the results. I added some Enamel Accents in white to the centre of the flowers ( this stuff is amazing- just arrived in my Simon Says Stamp parcel this week) As I didn't want to cover any of the wonderful colour or snowflakes with a sentiment, I stamped it with Stazon onto a sheer ribbon and added a double bow.
I have been making the most of being home recuperating... have made a few cards, tried some other resist techniques, did my tutorial yesterday (here) and generally had fun in my craft room... today have to do the housework :-( - but if I hurry I can get back to crafting later in the afternoon. I've got new stamps and really really want to play!!!!
Hope your weekend is great - we have SUN!!!!!

Butterflies Galore... more Jennifer McGuire inspiration
Jennifer had an amazing video on her blog this past week and it has inspired a number of us to make some butterfly cards. I loved how she had used her on a set for her Mother in law... so I decided to make some for my Mum... I used Hero Arts Digi kit " Flutterbys" to print out some butterflies and also a stamp that my Dad bought to take home with him ( not sure of the maker... but did manage to stamp off a whole sheet) I used Copics, water colour pencils and aqua crayons to colour some in. I loved the sets Jennifer did, so copied the idea. I used my Cuttlebug to make a variety of backgrounds and then used co-ordinating card stock ( and paint chips) to make the panels on the cards. My desk is currently strewn with coloured butterflies... I am making a set of six for Mum, so two more to go.... I also used some on some mini pizza boxes I made for some coaster Mum bought to take back to family and friends in Australia. The coasters are glass with New Zealand and a fern and Kiwi on them. I took Mum and Dad to my local stamp stores over the past few days and Dad had a ball.... He tells me the stuff he bought is for Mum to start stamping and card making.... but I'm not so sure!!!!!! He has been watching me closely....interested in everything I've been doing.... We'll just have to wait and see who does what!!! I have really been enjoying showing them my crafting and spending time with them... I will miss them when they go on Saturday :-( Plus having to work again next week instead of doing my cards and reading and enjoying the sunny weather!!!! Oh well that's life.
Thanks for stopping by ....I'm off to colour more butterflies!!!!!

Glittery birthday
I had to make a card for a friend at work and my mojo had gone on holiday.... but last night looking at Jennifer McGuire's blog I was inspired by one of her cards and came up with this one. I stamped the Wavy Leaf DB on the pale blue in Faded Jeans distress ink and then used the CB to dry emboss. I had got a new distress ink on Tues - Tattered Rose - so used it to colour the edging ( FIskers Apron lace), the ribbon and the big flower, the smaller flower was coloured with the Faded Jeans, I added Kindyglitz to both ( same sort of stuff as Stickles) The sentiment is from the HA Petite Greetings set. Finished with some black gems and a pearl. Thanks to Jennifer for her inspiration

Card for Judy
My partner for Deborah's card chain challenge was the wonderful Judy. I have to admit when you look at her photostream ( look here) I was a bit daunted. This is one talented lady. Anyway I just decided I had to go for it.... and this is what came about. I didn't follow Deborah's sketch fully ( I chose to have 3 strips instead of 4) I had this lovely patterned paper - not sure of the make or where I got it - but I just loved the delicate colours. As any of you who are regular readers of this blog know, I LIKE butterflies. So the card had to have some of those on it as well. One of the themes of this months challenge was to be thanksgiving or gratitude. Here in New Zealand we do not celebrate Thanksgiving so I think this sentiment works well for gratitude. We should all try to find Joy everyday in everything we do...
Judy I hope you enjoyed it.
And now.... my winning roll continues.....tonight I read Jennifer McGuire's wonderful blog and to my surprise, she had a random giveaway and I got picked,.... how cool is that!!!! More goodies arriving my my mail box....
Thanks for stopping by... I do appreciate it.
