One embossing folder... three cards

On Friday I picked up Issue 122 of Papercraft Essentials with a free embossing folder

It's quite a versatile folder. I made three cards using it.

First up I embossed the folder horizontally onto some white card

I layered it onto some red card ( it does look a bit pink but believe me it is RED)  The Hero Art sentiment was stamped and layered onto red card and the Tim Holtz poinsettia was die cut with red, green and yellow card.   CAS and elegant.

Next up is a classic black and white card

I added some Onyx Liquid Pearls.  The sentiment came with the folder and I stamped it onto some scrap white card and cut with a Spellbinders oval.  I then layered it onto another Spellbinders die.  I added a white seam binding bow to finish off.

And my final card involved using a letterpress technique with the folder.

I inked up the folder with some Hero Arts  Shadow ink in Stone Wash and ran my white card through the Cuttlebug.  It looked terrible to start, but as it dried, it started to look so much better.   I stamped the Hero Arts sentiment and cut with a Spellbinders scalloped oval.  I sponged the ink onto the oval before removing the die.   Added some gems.

I've entered these into the Challenge at Simon Says Stamp

Thanks for visiting.

September CCC card for Lizzy

I really love taking part in Deborah's CCC monthly challenges.   You get to send a card to someone and someone sends you one.   This month, I got to send a card to Lizzy in Australia.

Each month Deborah gives options for the card... a colour combo, a sketch or a theme.  For September I chose the colours - Ivory, Olive and Cobalt Blue

My card base is Ivory and my olive is Distress ink sponged through a Tim Holtz stencil.  My butterfly is a Memory Box die and the friend die is from the SOA from StampNation and is by CAS-ual Friday. The rest of the sentiment is from Winnie & Walter and is stamped with a Memento ink.  Finished with some blue enamel dots for the butterflies body.  Lizzy has now let me know it has arrived.

I'm entering this into the Die Crazy challenge at Simon Says Stamp

93 Days to Christmas!

OMG - that's not long!  I can't wait as I have my daughter and son in law and my parents coming to stay.  So, have you started your Christmas Cards yet?  I have a couple of cards to share today.  I tend to make lots of different designs - sometimes doing a couple of each design.

first up are a couple of similar designs

The silhouette die is from Couture Creations.  Both sentiments are from Hero Arts stamps.  They were both embossed with a folder.  The first one is simple black and white while the second one is sprayed with some Lindy's Gang iridescence blue spray and some gold spray.

Next up

A cute as Summer Christmas card using a Simon Says Stamp set.  I was inspired by a card from Barb Engler, who in turn had been inspired by Laura Bassen.   It's it the best.  I've decided that, that is not a Palm but a NZ Cabbage Tree

and finally a CAS card

This is a new Hero Arts die and stamp set which I cut from some American Crafts silver foil card.  I stamped the sentiment from the set in Onyx black Versafine and clear embossed.  I added a few scraps of red card behind the berries.

Thanks for sticking with my post today.  I appreciate all my visitors and love when you leave me a comment.

Discover Shaker card

Hi I'm here with one more shaker card to inspire you to take part in our challenge this month at A2Z Scrapbooking.

IMG_1115W

I used a Lia Griffith set called "Discover".  I stamped the Eiffel Tower and bicycle and fussy cut them out.  The sentiment from the sent was embossed with a Ranger powder called Red Cinnabar.  I cut a circle out of my blue card and used two layers of 3D tape to make my shaker.  I filled it with some colourful sequins I had at home (purchased years and years ago)

Hope you are inspired by my card as we would love to have you join us in this month in our shaker challenge.

StampNation Stamp of Approval - Friendship box

I recently decided that I needed wanted Catherine Pooler's Stamp of Approval kit - aptly named "Friendship"   It was a VERY EXPENSIVE box of goodies for me as the NZ-US exchange rate has plummeted of recent times and postage rates have risen in the US,  But I am so happy that I did get it!

As you can see it was chocker full of lovely stamps, dies and a stencil.   So here goes with what I've done so far!

This first one was CASE'd from one Isha did for the accompanying PDF.

Next up used the flower dies, and the stamped sentiments.

this one used the stencil for the background using two different colours of distress ink.  The Friend die came in the set and I paired it with a Winnie and Walter sentiment stamp

For this card I only used the Tag dies,  The background is distress ink over a The Crafter's Workshop snowflake mask/stencil.  Again used Winnie & Walter sentiments.

and finally
A Bokeh card with Teal and white inks on a sprayed background.  Sentiment and flowers from the SOA kit, leaves from Provocraft (very old Cuttlebug dies)

Thanks for bearing with me for this long post.  I've had fun with this kit and there are lots more ideas floating about in my mind.  Haven't even used a couple of the stamps and dies yet!

take care

and here are the sketches again...

I chose the landscape design for my card.

I coloured up my image with Copic markers and then used a very light colour behind for my background.  Took some striped PP and then used my dies to make the frame.  Finished with the three pink gems.  I will put the sentiment inside as it was such a cute image, I did not want to distract from it,

Guest Designer at Morgan's ArtWorld

I am thrilled to be the Guest Designer over at Morgan's ArtWorld today.  I have only recently found the wonderful digital art work  there, thanks to Cathie, a fellow DT member at Die Cut Divas.  I entered the challenge on Morgan's blog (here) and was excited to be asked to do the guest design spot.  The challenge is "For the Kids"

I had so many choices of images to play with, (you can find them all here) so finally decided to do a beautiful scene on my card,

Isn't she just the most beautiful little fairy girl.  I had so much fun colouring her in with my Copic makers.  I die cut the main panel with a Lil' Inkers die and then used the largest die in the set to emboss my base card.  As the image is far to lovely to cover with a sentiment, that will go inside the card,

Many thanks to the team at Morgan's ArtWorld for inviting me to participate on their blog today.  Please hop over to the blog and have a look

Let it Snow

It's my day to share some inspiration over at A2Z Scrapbooking.  Our challenge is Shaker Card

Arlene and I had a similar idea.... trees and shaker cards for Christmas.

Let it snow
For my card, I have made it look like I was looking out the window at snow on my Christmas tree.  I have used the beautiful Color Layering Christmas Trees (currently out of stock in our Etsy store, but feel free to make a CUSTOM Order it in the Store. Just click on the REQUEST CUSTOM ORDER form on the store HOME Page!)    I used distress ink and some watercolour paper and stamped and painted my tree.  I added some Kindyglitz (similar to Stickles) to imitate snow as does my clear and white sequins in the shaker part of the card.

Happy Father's Day.

It's Father's Day in our part of the world today.  I miss my Dad as he lives in Australia and I only get to see him once a year.   For his card this year, I used a digital stamp from Digi Stamp Boutique called "Super Dad".  I was inspired by a card I saw in an Australian Cardmaking magazine.

My background was made by using a partial sponging technique with distress ink and a Hero Arts Stencil (Swirl stencil available at A2Z Scrapbooking)
I was really pleased with the look I achieved by doing this.  I fussy cut the image and added with the matching sentiment with the digi stamp.  A few enamel dots finished it off.

Happy Father's Day Dad.  Love you to pieces.  Your are My Super Dad!

Spring Time is here

September 1st is the beginning of Spring here in my part of the world, so today's share is about Spring Flowers.  Over at Chalk'n'Stock our monthly challenge - Anything Goes - is under way.   Our sponsor is Bugaboo Stamps.  I chose to use a lovely flower image for my Spring theme

I used Zig markers to colour my image.  I used chalk ink to distress the edge of the card.  I used my new die by CAS-ual Friday (part of my kit from StampNation's Stamp of Approval) Finished with some purple gems.

Here is my second spring card for today

This is a stamp from Altenew - Fresh Freesias.  I embossed the stamp and sentiment with Liquid Platinum.  I used the Zig makers to colour.  Added a few sequins to finish.

Here is a photo of the orchid I have on my deck.  It's started flowering
