Angel Love

It's the final day of the month so last day of the monthly challenge at Die Cut Divas.... our theme is something new

I've used a new Bugaboo image called Love Angel for my card today.

I used a Tim Holtz/Sizzix die for the corner die cut and added the pink over a maroon card base. The image was printed and framed in Word and trimmed out.  I used some new Altenew Marker to colour my Angel.  I added a little sentiment into the corner.

Thanks for joining me today.  If you haven't already seen my Watercooler Wednesday Challenge post... see it HERE.

A big thanks to our lovely sponsor this month as well.

WWC#206 - Anything Goes Challenge

Welcome back to this week's challenge at Watercooler Wednesday.   Being the 5th Wednesday of the month, it's an "Anything Goes" challenge.

Hi

I'm really into doing cards using Floral stamps and today I've gone for a CAS card

I used an Altenew stamp set called "Ruffled Flowers" for the focal image.  I used two blues ( Tourquise and Tide Blue) and two grey (Morning Frost and Evening Grey) inks from Altenew to add the layers.  The little sentiment is from Altenew's "Wishing You"   I layered it with black card.  Once I added it to the card base I used my Mini Perfect Layers to add a frame with a Sharpie pen.

Come join in the fun and make any project.  Check out the projects that the artists at Watercooler Wednesday Challenges have created then take the challenge and link your creation to the challenge post. We’d love to have you join us.  You have until Mondays at 5 p.m. Mountain Standard Time (Tuesdays at 1pm NZ time) to link up your project.

World's Best Friend

It's my turn over at Die Cut Divas today

Our challenge theme is Anything New-new dies, stamps, techniques, paper, etc!

My new item is the dies I used... I got them just before Christmas and haven't used them yet.

My Bugaboo image is an older one but one I've always loved.  I used some Copic markers to colour.  I used a die cut to emboss the frame around it, and then added the gold and red die cuts for my label.

Do come and join us this month - Use anything NEW

WWC205 Donna's "All About Holidays" Challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  Donna is our hostess this week with Holidays Around The World.

For the challenge this week I am celebrating St David's Day which is 1 March.  People in Wales and those of Welsh origin celebrate the life of their patron saint, St David, and the Welsh culture on March 1 each year. Many people pin a daffodil or leek to their clothes and some, especially children, wear traditional costumes.

I chose to use a Daffodil stamp from Altenew to make my card.

I stamped the daffodils onto some Strathmore Bristol paper and used Zig Clean Clear Real Brush markers in Orange, Yellow, Bright Orange, Light Green and Olive Green to colour them before die cutting.  I added splatters of orange and yellow and black onto a card base and added the daffodils. I popped up one on foam tape.  I white embossed a sentiment from the stamp set onto black card.

Come join in the fun and make a Holiday card.

WWC 204 - Gail's Masculine "Anything Goes" Challenge

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  Gail is our hostess this week with an anything goes masculine challenge.

I'm on a roll with my Alcohol backgrounds.  This one is greens and browns  with touches of gold foil.

I used the Alcohol lift ink to stamp this motor bike.  The stamp comes from a set called "For the Boys" that was a freebie with Cardmaking in Easy Steps magazine.  The set is full of great masculine stamps.    I embossed the sentiment from the set in Liquid Platinum powder on a really dark green cardstock.

Come join in the fun and make a masculine themed project.

Using something New

My NZ swap group theme for this month is to use something new..... something you received for Christmas, bought at a craft fair, etc that you haven't used yet !  I got a lovely gift pack from my son and his partner that included some stencils, washi tapes, and flowers.  I chose to use one of the stencils.

.
I sponged some Altenew ink through the stencils and then added some translucent embossing paste on top.  I cut it and layered with some very dark navy card.  I white embossed a sentiment from Altenew  "Engraved Flowers" set.  I also stenciled part of the flower inside the card and made a matching envelope.

I am entering this into the Card & Matching Envelope challenge at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge
and the new challenge called "CAS stenciling" which has a theme of sponging.

I haven't done much crafting this weekend as our son and his partner moved into their new house.  They have been living with us since early November.   We helped them moving yesterday - I dusted and cleaned the furniture before it went into the house.  It's been sitting in my garage so had got dusty.  We spend most of the day there and today, hubby went over after lunch with our lawn mower and did the lawn.  I took over my son's washing that I'd had on the line and a few odds and sods that got left behind.  They are so happy to finally be in.  It's in a nicer area and close to several of their friends.

I'll be busy this week making sure I'm ahead with my Design Team work as we head off on the 20th to so our West Coast bike trail.  Not sure I am ready for it but will give it a go.  It's only for 4 days - biking between 24 -34 kilometres a day (about 3-4 hours cycling a day) plus I've hired an E-bike to make it a bit easier for me.

Thanks for stopping by.

WWC 203 - Karen's "All about Occasions"

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  Karen is our hostess this week with "All about Occasions" challenge.

My card today is to celebrate Valentine's Day

I've been playing lately with Alcohol Inks and recently got some Tim Holtz Alcohol Lift Ink. My background was made with Red Pepper and Watermelon inks and some Isopropyl alcohol on Yupo paper.   I took  Simon Says Stamp "Floral Bliss" stamp set and using the Lift Ink stamped one of the bouquets in the set.  Love the very subtle look you get.  I originally went to embossed the sentiment (from Clearly Besotted "All Occasion Sentiments") directly onto the Yupo paper  --- but look what happened.

Note to self: DO NOT EMBOSS on Yupo.  So slight change of plans.. to the size of my card and how to add the sentiment.  Trimmed off the ruined piece and added the embossed sentiment onto vellum and adhered onto the panel by wrapping it around it.  Then onto a red panel and then onto the card base.

Come join in the fun and make any type of occasion card.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

AECP - Polychromatic.

I've been working on my certification and revisited the class called Polychromatic.  This class was led by Nina-Marie Trapani and is all about colours.... Each lesson took us through different ways to use colour including using one colour only which is where I took my inspiration.

I used some purple card and stamped the flowers from the Engraved Flowers set a number of times in Hydrangea ink.  I then used Prismacolour pencils to added extra colour.  I stamped and die cut the Beautiful from the Simple Flowers set.  I did a inlaid die technique by die cutting the sentiment partially from the patterned piece and inlaying the white die cut.  Finished with some white Nuvo drops.

This class is one I keep revisiting as the ideas and techniques that Nina-Marie taught are so interesting and inspiring.

And here is another card I made using some new Altenew dies and stamps.  I was inspired by the use of various tones of the same colours.

To die cut the roses I started with white card stock and blended four pink inks onto them and then die cut the different elements of each rose. These were added to the base with dimensional tape.  I die cut the leaves from a textured green card and added behind the flowers.  The sentiment is from the More than Words set.   Added some Nuvo drops in a Pearl sheen to finish.

Thanks for stopping by today...

WWC202 Dawn's Feminine "Anything Goes" Challenge

I'm very excited to be hosting the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  Our theme this week is Feminine "Anything Goes"

Today I have a pretty floral card to share

I started with a new to me set from Altenew called "Engraved Flowers"  I stamped two of the flower sprays with Versafine Onyx Black ink.  I then used Altenew inks (Pink Pearl, Corals Bliss, Heart Beat, Vineyard Berry, Mellow Yellow, Minty Mint, Sweet Leaf and Just Green) with a Blender Pen to colour it in.  The sentiment is from the same set.  I trimmed it a little and added some metallic washi down on side.   I finished it off with a touch of glimmer to the centre of the flowers  with a Clear star jelly roll pen.

Come join in the fun and make a Feminine themed card.

AECP - Creative Watercolour Media

2019 is here and I'm really going to make an effort to get my AECP finish.... so off to a good start.  I took my inspiration today from Creative Watercolor Media... a class tutored by Jennifer Rzasa, Debby Hughes and Laura Bassen.  It's all about using Altenew sprays, reinkers and ink pads as a watercolour medium.  This is a super fun class that really encourage you to make the most of your Altenew supplies.   I don't have any Altenew sprays or reinkers but have a LOT of their cube ink pads.  22 sets of 4 colours!  And boy are these inks PERFECT for watercolouring....

I started with some Brockingford Cold Press 200gm watercolour paper and using my new Ruffled Flowers stamps and some Gold embossing powder I stamped the two outline stamps several times around my card.   I then smooshed the ink pads on to my small Altenew palette to make the "paint"  I used Hydrangea and Ultraviolet for the flowers and Green Field for the leaves.  I then took Vanilla ream and added a wash all over the card.  The sentiment is from More than Words stamp set.  Finished with a few Nuvo drop pearl dots.  I mounted onto a purple panel which is attached to my white card base.

I really enjoyed using this technique and use it a lot to colour (paint) my stamps.

I really am enjoying the latest goodies that arrived on Monday from Altenew.  A few more cards are in progress.

Thanks for stopping by.

Happy New Year....My Altenew favourites

I've been blog hopping with Altenew for their best cards for 2018 and thought I'd share some of my favourites for 2018 together with some I've done with new stamps - including the generous little gift from them.
#AltenewBest2018

And here are my latest offerings - using the appreciation gift

For this I stamped the bigger flower in Purple inks - using the leaf to add a layer (thanks to someone who I saw do this on IG)  Used both the leaves from the set in two green colours.  I smudged some green on my card... cleverly disguised with the purple gems..

This one caused me no end of issues.... first I smudged ink below the flowers so cut it off... next I added to a plain base, added the sentiment and got carried away with adding Liquid dots...so cut it off again.  Finally added to another panel and added some metallic tape.  Sentiment is from the Fantastic Floral Fantasies kit (More than Words stamp set).

And the last one I used the long leaf from the gift with my Wreath Builder stencil (Gina K) and some green inks.  Filled in with teeny tiny stamps from several Altenew sets in reds and purples.   The sentiment is from the Engraved Flowers set.

Hope you all had a great New Year's Eve.  We had our son and his partner and our friends Micheal and Yvonne here for a BBQ dinner and some fireworks and sitting around the brazier till midnight to see the New Year in.

Hope 2019 is good for you.
