Thank You to Sunny Studio Stamps at Die Cut Divas.

Hi there.  It's the final day of the month so it's time to share my card for Die Cut Divas.  This month our sponsor is Sunny Studios

Our theme is Slimline cards.

I used the smaller of the two dies from the Sunny Studio Stamps Slimine Scalloped Frame Dies and the Thank You die from the set

I die cut the centre panel from some Canson XL watercolour paper and added some clear water and some purple inks smooshed onto my glass mat. I dried the painting and added another layer of water and ink.  Once it was dry I used some Obsidian Ink to stamp the flower from Altenew's Gift for You set.  I then used Woodless Watercolour pencils in Moss and Ultramarine to colour the flowers.  I added the die cut sentiment and finished with some splatters using Oolong Tree pencil. I mounted the painted panel onto some black card and then added to a white base.

Hope you have had a go making a slimline card for our challenge.  You have today to join us at Die Cut Divas.

Slimline Christmas at Die Cut Divas

Hi there.  It's my day to share over at Die Cut Divas.

Our lovely sponsor is Sunny Studio. This month, it's all about making those slimline cards.

Winner will receive a $15 gift card from Sunny Studio Stamps

My card uses a Slimline die cut from Sunny Studios  (this one - used the inner die)

My stamps are also from Sunny Studio Stamps - Holiday Style.  I used some Altenew inks - Soft Lilac, Lavender Fields and Hydrangea for the bells and Evergreen for the branch.   The sentiment was stamped in Jet Black ink.   I add some little grey stars with a stamp from Your Next Stamps and added some gold splatter.  I added Spectrum Noir sparkle pen onto the bells.

Do come and play along with your Slimline challenge and be in to win.

WWC312 - Helen's Challenge: All About Occasions

Hi there it's time for another challenge at Watercooler Wednesday this week.  Helen is our hostess with an All About Occasions challenge,

Today I have a slimline card to share.

I had found some card bases at Spotlight that are slimline - for my panel I used rubberbands on a long block and some Altenew inks in soft pinks and purples.  I then stamped and layered the Our Friendship Blooms Stamp and Die - using the inked layers and also adding the base layer with the matching stencil before die cutting it out.   I also diecut the Deco frame from silver glitter card.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set.

Come and join in the fun at  Watercooler Wednesday Challenge and check out the project from the other designers.  Then take our challenge and link up your project to the challenge post.    We'd love to have you join us.  You have until Monday 5th April at 5 pm Mountain Standard Time (Tuesday at 11.00 am NZ time ) to link up your project.

Let's Squash It ! - Boxing Clever with Floral Embossing

A fun challenge this month.  - Great inspiration from Jo and Gail and their guest this month.  I have made a little 4" square red box -

I used some red card to make my little box - the side is 1" tall and the lid is 3/4" tall.  I took some more of the red card and run it through my Cuttlebug with the folder.  It was one that came with a magazine a long time ago.  To make it stand out, I rubbed some white Color Box Frost White ink with a bit extra around the edges.  I punched the three flowers and then put them through the embossing folder as well to add texture. Hard to see in the photo, but looks great in real life.   The leaves were sitting in my scrap container from Christmas.

Just a quick little box that I will use to add a gift for a friend's birthday.

Hope your weekend is going well.  We did a big 7k walk this morning and ended up at the local Cafe for breakfast.  It was a stunning morning for walking - we did the pipeline along the between Campbells Bay Beach - Mairangi Bay Beach - to Murrays Bay Beach.  Always a good walk, then up the hill before coming back down to Murrays Bay and the Cafe.    Take care out there people.

2021 SPRING | SUMMER COFFEE LOVERS BLOG HOP!

Yes the Spring Summer Coffee Lovers Hop has started.  Now I'll just let you know I'm not a coffee lover - a Hot Chocolate Girl here.... but apparently I make a good cup of Joe... according to my hubby anyway!

But I digress.... today I am sharing a card I've made for the Hop.  It's Iced Coffee - seeing it's a Spring/Summer Hop and because it's still very warm here in NZ.  Our temperature today has been up to 24C  (75F) ... currently 21C (70F) at 5.20pm - so Iced Coffee is suitable.

I had forgotten I had this Tim Holtz Blueprint stamp until I had the set out the other day making a card.  This was one of 6 stamps in a Tim Holtz set made for Simon Says Stamptember in 2015!  I think I've used it once before...  I stamped it in Memento Black ink as I thought I was going to use Copics but decided instead to use Prismacolor and Jasart pencils. I also added some 2B graphic pencil smudged with a tortillon a la Nicole Watt.   I had masked off the sentiment in the first stamping and then just stamped it onto another piece of white card.  I used Gina K Master Layouts 2 to cut both the panel and my layers.  I used the bigger of the small panel dies and then used my Perfect Layers rule at 1/16th inch to cut the layer.  Somehow the die has now disappeared!   I'm sure it will turn up.  I used some kraft card to make the card base.

Here's another view

I'm #196 on the hop.... so thanks if you have come to visit me.... thanks also to my regular viewers.  I much appreciate you stopping by.

Do go and have a look at the Hop.  It's amazing with some fabulous sponsors and prizes.  Who knows if you join in, you could be a winner!

Rainbow flowers.

I struggled with this month's challenge at my NZ Swap group - Rainbows.   I finally came up with a very CAS idea.

I used a Stampin' Up punch to cut a rainbow of flowers.  I do have a match stamp somewhere in my stash - but I couldn't find it.  Need to do a tidy up for sure!.  I decided to add the pearl centres for some texture.   I used a Kaisercarft sentiment which I really like.

Thanks for stopping by - the weekend is starting for me and I'm hoping to get some  time in the craft room.  Hope you all have a great weekend

Shades of Purple.

This challenge is just me!  Purple is my favourite colour.    Lately I've been struggling with my crafting... ideas galore, but just wanting to get started has been hard.  About a week ago I took some of my purple scraps and an Altenew flower die cut and made a couple of flowers.   They sat there as I really didn't know what I wanted to do to showcase them.  Last evening, I was rummaging around in my WIP pile and found a background I had done some foiling on.

My foiled panel is an Altenew stamp that I had stamped, then photocopied with a laser printer so that I could foil it with some silver foil.    As you can see I had covered my flowers with Wink of Stella.  The sentiment is from another Altenew set.  I seem to be using my Gina K Master Layouts on just about every card I do... they make it so easy to layer panels.

And talking about Gina K... do you watch her live Facebook/You Tube posts?  She has some fun techniques and ideas.  This week's earlier live used a technique called Black Magic.  Basically using white pigment ink to stamp on black card and then once it dried, used pencils to colour in the image.    Today I was feeling unwell in the morning so spent time in bed resting.  I got up at lunch time and decided I felt a bit better and wanted to try out the technique.

I used the same stamp set that Gina used.. one of my few Gina K stamps.  My white pigment ink is very old so had to use my MISTI and stamped each image twice to get a semi-reasonable amount of ink down.  Once it dried, I used Prismacolor pencils and one Jasart pencil to colour the image in.  Added some white gel pen dots on the centre of the flowers.  I used the same purple card as my layer, to die cut the Hero Arts sentiment - 3 times to add dimension.  So pleased with the results.

I'm entering both of these in the flower challenge.

Thanks for stopping by... I've been watching the New Zealand sailors racing here in Auckland and today they won the 7th race to win the 36th America's Cup challenge.... a very exciting few days with racing against Luna Rosa Prada Perelli.   We were defending the cup so exciting to keep it here in NZ for the next few years.

A Green Christmas and a Rainbow card

Over the weekend, I managed to get a few cards done.  My NZ swap group this month is Rainbow  -  I've been in a bit of a slump lately... so did a bit of Pinterest viewing to get some ideas.   I ended up making two cards.... here's the one that didn't get sent to Carol -

I used a rainbow of stripes to make the background behind the die cut from Altenew.  I die cut the Hello circle from white card and then run it through an embossing folder.  Added the small sentiment from an Altenew set.   I'll share the card I did send once it's been received

My next two cards are for the Christmas Kickstart challenge.

I used an embossing folder and some ink to make two similar cards.

I took Catherine Pooler's Grass Skirt ink and using a brayer added it the embossing folder.  This came out fabulously.  I had cut out the square from Gina K Master Layouts 3 prior to the embossing.  I added the Christmas Bells - left over from Christmas last year.... I had cut a number of these.  I used Copic markers to colour up the bell.

My other card used Altenew's Green Feilds ink.  I didn't get such a good embossing from it but still liked the results.

To this one I added a little gnome - also from a few I had pre-stamped and cut out.   A few more cards for my Christmas stash.

I had a lovely visit from Grace yesterday....

She is growing so quickly.   She'll be two in around 2 months time.  I really don't know where the time has gone.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

WWC #311 Kath's Challenge - All Things Feminine.

Hi there.  Well we've had a bit of a change up at Watercooler Wednesday Challenge blog.  We will now be running a fortnightly challenge.   More time for you to join us with your lovely creations...

We've updated our challenge titles too.... still the same but a bit less of a mouthful.... so onto Kath's challenge - All Things Feminine,

Believe it or not - this flower is a Christmas one.  Yes, it is a corner floral from a freebie Christmas set by Clear Impressions.  I stamped the L-shaped florals around my card and then added little bits of the stamp in the spaces.  The sentiment is from a Kaisercraft set called Way of Life.  I coloured the flowers with some Altenew Woodless Watercolour pencils and some Jasart pencils.  I didn't add any water to the pencils.  Really happy with the results.

Come and join in the fun at  Watercooler Wednesday Challenge and check out the projects from the other designers.  Then take our challenge and link up your project to the challenge post.    We'd love to have you join us.  You have until Monday 22nd of March at 5 pm Mountain Standard Time (Tuesday at 12.00 noon NZ time) to link up your project.

Purple florals - and using Stamping Foam.

I've been working from home for the last 4 days as we are back in lockdown 3 for 7 days.  I have set up my tablet and old TV monitor on my craft table - which I have to say is very distracting!!!!  I use my break times to do some crafting... 10 mins in the morning and afternoons and 20 mins or so at lunch time.  So over the past few days I have been trying out a new tool!  I brought some Simon Hurley stamping foam from my local online store (Krafters Cart) and after watching Jennifer McGuire and Simon's videos I made a few backgrounds... using stamps and embossing folders.  I made a few backgrounds and today I finished my first card.

My background was made using a Hero Arts background stamp.  I followed the instructions on heating the foam and pushed it into stamp.  I used some Altenew ink to rub over the foam and stamped it onto some white card.  I trimmed around the edge and added it to my purple embossed base card.  I stamped Altenew Gift for You onto some scrap card and used my Jasart pencils to colour it in.  I fussy cut it and added the little sentiment stripe that I had in my "magic mug" a la Laurel Beard.  A few pearls finished of the card.   I must admit to loving this one... Purple is my favourite colour.

Now I just have to make sure that I don't get too distracted with all my crafty goodness around for the rest of the week.   I will be strong!

Hero Arts Facebook Fans 90 minute Scramble.

Today Cindy started a new 90 minute Scramble over at the Hero Arts Fans Scramble Facebook page.   I've been working at my craft desk - so as soon as I signed off for the day, I picked up my supplies and made a card.

Cindy's challenge is to make a mini slimline card.  Mini slimlines are 3.5" x 6 inches.  A good size to try.   Here's my card - made in about 45 mins and then took about 25 mins to photograph and add to the album on FB.

It wasn't till I took the photo that I realised my sentiment was a bit crooked!.  I made my base from Kraft card stock.  I die cut the Poppy then used the negative space to line up the stamps.   I used Copic markers to colour the poppies.  I then added them to the blue centre panel.  I made my own shiny glittery card by painting the red card with Wink of Stella clear sparkle pen and then covered it with clear packing tape, before die cutting the sentiment.  I then stamped the sub-sentiment from the Hello There set.  Added a few holographic gems to finish.

Come and join the Scramble Group over on Facebook and play along in the Scramble.  It's running for 7 days.

Slimline cards at Die Cut Divas

Hi there.  It's the 1st of the month so it's a new challenge at Die Cut Divas.  This month our sponsor is Sunny Studio

And our theme is "Slimline Cards"   Our sponsor has a number of Slimline dies and I managed to get my hands on the Slimline Scalloped Frame .

I paired the die cuts with an Altenew Spider Mum..  I did some masking to make the flowers fit my card.  I used Altenew's Woodless watercolour pencils to colour my flowers.  The sentiment is from Altenew Sentiment Stripes.

Come and join us at Die Cut Divas this month and try your hand at the latest trend - slimline cards.

Gnome is the where the heart is.

 Today I'm sharing a card for Darnell's NBUS (Never-Before-Used-Schtuff! )

My NBUS - the little Whimsy Digi stamp (Gnome sweet Gnome set) and the little heart sequins.   I printed the gnome and coloured with a variety of Alcohol markers.  I added the little sequins I found in my cupboard and realised I had never used before.   I used some Gina K master layout dies to cut out the main panel and the background panel.

Thanks for stopping by.  I'm back from working from home for the next week as Auckland is back into Level 3 lockdown for a week.  Someone got the infection and didn't isolate so to try and kick the virus, Auckland has to stay home for a week this time.  A frustrating time for sure.    Take care out there people.
