Use a die as a stencil... Die Cut Divas

Hi all

It's the last day of the month so the current challenge at Die Cut Divas is finishing today.

Kat Scrappiness is our sponsor this month at Die Cut Divas.
(new stamps, dies, stencils, embossing powders or folders, papers, digital images)

Today I am using a die cut as a stencil.... I was colouring up a white Mandala die cut to use of my earlier Die Cut Divas sample card HERE - so decided to use a sheet of white card behind the die cut and hey presto it was like using the die cut as a stencil.

I used a Couture Creations die "Anastasia"  To make it really pop I layered onto some black card and then onto the white square card base.  The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp "Tiny Words Encouragement" embossed in white onto some black card.  Finished with some dark magenta sequins.

Kat Scrapiness has a lot of wonderful dies as well as stamps = both their own brand as well as many other companies goodies.

Come and join us at Die Cut Divas.

WWC #256 Kath's Challenge - All about Occasions

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  Kath is our hostess this week with an All About Occasions challenge.

Today I'm sharing a card with you that is for my friend's son and his partner.  Their little girl arrived early on the 25 January.  Her name is Beatrix.

I used a Whimsy digital stamp called Baby Ellie.  I printed her out and used my Scan'N'Cut to cut around the image.  I coloured using my Prismacolor pencils.  I added the image to a dark pink panel and stamped the two sentiments from a Kaisercraft set.

Come and join the fun.  Check out the projects that the other artists at  Watercooler Wednesday challenge have created.  Then take our challenge and link your creation to the challenge post.  We'd love to have you join us.  You have until Monday at 5 pm Mountain Standard Time (Tuesday at 12.00 noon NZ time) to link up your project

Mission: Inspiration - Altenew Academy Day 1

I have recently taken the latest Altenew Academy class - Mission: Inspiration.  Nicole Watt was the tutor and I have to say... it was a cool class.  Nicole gave us lots of ideas about finding and using inspiration in all sorts of ways.   Day 1 was about organising your inspiration, be in on pinterest, or in a notebook.  Nicole did a project using a Style - based on a magazine photo.  Her is her project...

I took inspiration of the white on white samples she made with the pop of colour with the sentiment.  Nicole's cards used stencils and embossing paste - but I decided to dry emboss with the stencil.

I used Altenew Layer Medallion B stencil and dry embossed it.  I added a pop of blue with the sentiment from Sentiment Strips.

I have started a second one using some embossing paste and glitter with the Flowing Hearts stencil but need to let it dry.

I can highly recommend taking this class.  It really is inspiring!

WWC 255 Marsha's Challenge - Anything Goes with a Masculine Twist

Welcome - today it's a new Challenge at Watercooler Wednesday.  Our hostess this week is Marsha and she has Masculine challenge for us.

On the 21st of January, hubby and I celebrated our 42nd Wedding Anniversary.   Here's the card I made for him

I wanted a masculine card so chose to use the Altenew Sohcahtoa set stamped in Cloudy Night and Vineyard Berry inks.  I put the stamps how I wanted them into my Misti and stamped once with the grey ink and then moved it across a bit and stamped in the red ink.  The sentiment is in a set that was free with a magazine a couple of years ago.  I added to a black card base and finished with some silver sequins.

Come and join the fun.  Check out the projects that the other artists at Watercooler Wednesday
Challenge have created.  Then take our challenge and link your creation to the challenge post.  We'd love to have you join us.  You have until Monday at 5 pm Mountain Standard Time (Tuesday at 12.00 noon NZ time ) to link up your project.

CASEing Betty

Hi there.  Today I am sharing a card I made after being inspired by a card made by my bloggy friend Betty...You can see her card here.  Betty was inspired by a card from Michelle Lupton
Michelle used some Alcohol ink to make some flowers.   My card is more of a CASE of Betty's  - loved her idea of the pop of colour of the flowers on a black base.

I had this piece if  alcohol inked Yupo paper sitting on my desk from a while back.  I recently brought a stamp and die set from Couture Creations (Peaceful Peony) I stamped the big flower onto the Yupo piece with some pigment ink (Obsidian from Altenew) and then wiped it off.  This is a way to do an alcohol lift process.  I then used the matching die to cut it out.  I added to the side of my card, and added some stripes of dark magenta card and some silver washi tape. A few white enamel dots.

Thanks Betty for inspiring me to use up some of my alcohol ink backgrounds and to CASE your card.

Sweet Stampin' Challenge - Journals/Albums/Frames/Keepsakes

Welcome to another challenge at Sweet Stampin' this week.

Our theme this weeks is Journals/Albums/Frames/Keepsakes - a real challenge for me as I don't do much of this type of papercrafting .

I have an art Journal but only have done a few pages.  I often use it to roll off paint from my brayer when I'm doing Gelli plate.  So have a number of pages that have some background paint.  I decided to do a page to celebrate 2020

My page had the blue paint.  I added some washi down one side, and some blue Nuvo embellishment mousse through an Altenew Plaid stencil.  Once that dried I added some Tim Holtz stamps from the Perspective stamp set and Hero Arts Happy New Year Stamp and Cut set.  I added some cut up strips of an Altenew Sentiment strip.

Do come and join us at Sweet Stampin' Challenge and share your Journals/Albums/Frames/Keepsakes projects.

WWC 254 Tristan's Challenge - All About Occasions.

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  Tristan is our hostess this week and her challenge is All About Occasions

My card today is a Thanks one.

My background was made by embossing in white the Hero Arts Flower Background (circa 2009)  An oldie but a goodie.  I then did some ombre blending with my blending brushes and Altenew inks - Sunray, Chamomile, Snapdragon and Marigold.   I then stamped another older Hero Arts flower and white embossed that.  I used the the darker of the inks to blend on the flower.  I fussy cut the flower and mounted it onto a bronze circle.  The sentiment is from Altenew's Sentiment Stripes.   I finished with some brown sequins.

As I have used Hero Arts goodies on this one, I am entering it into the Anything Goes Challenge at A Blog Named Hero

Impossible Card

Our NZ swap group had a great technique this month.  An impossible card...  Our hostess Jude gave us a tutorial to help  from Beccy's Place.  Plus the additional twist of making it a monochromatic card.

It took me a while to work it out... but here's my card

I used a pink tone (although it looks peachy) to make my card.  The silhouette stamps is from Hero Arts and the little Hello from Sizzix.    And I received this stunner from my friend Suna

It's stunning.  She did three pieces - very impressive.

Thanks for stopping by

Playing with Altenew Best Sentiments

I got two more cards made using Altenew products and the sweet gift of the Best Sentiment stamps.

First is a super quick one...

Literally a two minute card.   I used the amazing Vibrant Spray Die Cut Tape and the sentiment stamp set.  Most time was spent trimming evenly around the stamped sentiment - but all good thanks to My Sweet Petunia Cut-Align ruler

My second one took a bit longer

For this one I used the Floral Garden stencil - doing a bit of partial stenciling using Coral Bliss and Heart Beat inks for the flowers and Sweet Leaf and Just Green for the leaves.  I added some Lucy Little Things - Ice Cube jewels.  The green of the flowers was added with some Aqua Stickles.  I stamped the sentiment with the Heart Beat ink

I'm adding this one to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - Fun with Florals

I'm still home alone - hubby due back tomorrow but today is a superbly warm summer's day so I'm off to the the local beach for a swim and some sunbathing.

Have an awesome day and a great weekend.

Virginia Rose 3D flowers

Altenew recently has been sending out a little stamp set as a gift to customers.  I was super excited today to find out that I was lucky enough to get one... what fun it was to see the bright yellow envelope in my mail box today.

Isn't it so cute.  Well I couldn't wait to get started...and as Hubby is away on a boy's fishing trip, I got straight into it.  I decided I wanted to use one the the Altenew 3D flower dies.  I chose to use the Virginia Rose dies.

I went with a sort of cream colour way for my rose.  I started by die cutting all the flower parts in cream card stock and then used Altenew inks - Hazelnut, Almond Butter to colour the layers.  I die cut the leaves out some "watercoloured" patterned paper I had on hand.  I added the little sentiment directly to the white card base.  I used the Hazelnut ink to sponge some soft background where the roses went.  I layered the white panel to a cream card base.

I am entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge... "Fun with Florals" and Virginia's Show and Share for January

As this is my third post for the day, please scroll down if you wants to see more of my cards
Thanks for stopping by.

Hi there... welcome to the first challenge for the year at Southern Girls Challenge. We are changing to an Anything Goes theme.  We have three wonderful sponsor this fortnight...

I am using an Image from All Dressed up for my card today

I printed out the image and used Alcohol Markers to colour her in.  I used some Catherine Pooler Designs dies to cut out the panel and the scalloped layer.   I added the gorgeous Glitter ribbon that I received in my Secret Santa at work.  I got  rolls of ribbon.... someone knows me well!

WWC 253 Karen's Challenge : Anything Goes with a Feminine Twist.

Hello there, it’s time for another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  Karen is our hostess this week with an anything goes with a feminine challenge.

Getting back into the swing of the New Year and today I have a sweet floral card to share.

this card is made using some selective stamping of an Altenew stamp from "Happy Bloom
set.   I coloured with Altenew Alcohol markers and Spectrum Noir Alcohol markers.  I then fussy cut out the blooms.  Next I worked on the background.  I used an Altenew stencil to add some light grey and blue inks  (Silver Lane and Eastern Night)  I then created my vase using some PP and Altenew "Versatile Vases" which I fussy cut.  Added some grey marker to ground the vase.  I stuck down the vase and then the blooms.  I added some extra leaves with a fine Sharpie and some markers.   Finished with a white embossed stripe from "Sentiment Stripes"from Altenew.

Come and join the fun.  Check out the projects that the other artists at Watercooler Wednesday

Show us your new Stash at Sweet Stampin' challenge.

Hi there... our first challenge for the New Year here at Sweet Stampin' challenge.

And what's not better than to show us your new stash. Did you get lots of goodies for Christmas or did you spend up large on the Black Friday sales....

My card uses some new stash I got just a week before Christmas.  My friend Suna, had won a gift voucher from Altenew so she asked if I wanted her to include anything in with her order.  We often do this as it saves on postage costs.  So I ordered the Gentleman's Grey inks and the Fine Frames rectangle dies.   She gave me a price...and told me that the inks would be a present from her.... how generous... and then when we meet for lunch she told me she had got the large inks... So an early Christmas present for me, thanks Suna.

I started by using some foil card from Rosie's Studio with my Fine Frames die to cut a frame.  This die is incredible.  It die cuts many tiny thin frames.  I managed to stick some tape on the back of the thin frames to keep them together.  I used one of the lighter grey inks to stamp the dotted layer of the leaves around before adding the frame.  I stamped the flowers in Altenew Coral Bliss and Heart Beat and added some of the orange inks for the centres.  I fussy cut them out and stamped and fussy cut some leaves in the darker colours of the greys.  I used the darkest grey to stamp the sentiment from Altenew Sentiment Strips.

We would love to have you join us this week, using your new stash
.

Happy New Year from the Die Cut Divas

Happy New Year to you all.

Today I'm sharing my card for Die Cut Divas

The challenge is NEW THINGS
(new stamps, dies, stencils, embossing powders or folders, papers, digi images)

My card started as a trial of some watercolouring a background...

It turned out a bit bright and garish but once I matted it onto the bright pink card it started looking better.  Arlene had sent me some die cuts from Kat Scrapiness (Hello my crafty friend) in white so I added this to it.  Much better again!

I forgot to schedule this post for last evening, so I'm sitting here in my PJ's at 10.00am in the morning typing it up.  We are still camping on our friends backyard.  Had a lovely Christmas and an awesome New Year - our friend has a party New Year's Eve and we all had a great time.   New Year's Day was spent with our son and his partner, her parents, aunties and uncles and Grace, at the beach in Waipu Cove.

Wishing you all a Very Happy New Year and and Prosperous New Year.
